Is there any way, any way at all possible for you to put Fadi and the others on here who have shared their incredible stories, who are suffering from PTSD to put them in touch with Imperial College of London's David Nutt or Robin Carhart Harris they have done studies with Psilocybin and Ptsd it's helped some people tremendously, not sure if they're are doing any study trials right now but heart goes out to all these people and what they've been through. Exploring psilocybin therapy myself here in Canada and really seeing the benefits of it. Thank you for this series, truly have loved hearing everyone's stories.
I don’t wanna be a Debbie downer and I understand that I don’t exactly live in Beirut (I live in Liverpool, England)
However, I just couldn’t help point to the fact that by definition, didn’t I also survive the explosion. I’m not exactly in Russia , it easily could’ve affected me as it did with Fadi.
I just thought I should bring that up, it’s slightly confusing me to be honest haha.

I'm a lebanese that lives in lebanon.
This explosion didn't just affect the people who were around the explosion, it also affected nearly every lebanese citizen, like me for example, i lost a friend in there and nearly lost my mom.
That whole week, everything just felt like some psychological horror experience that's too surreal, i really hope no one ever has to go thru something like that.

I'd like to say to Fadi, about his survivor guilt - if you had not survived, Joe would almost certainly not have survived either, and all the people you helped while getting Joe to hospital might not have been helped by anyone else, and the girl who lost an eye, she might have sat next to someone who would have freaked out and said "Oh my God you've lost your eye, it's horrible!" Your survival has helped a bunch of people. You're a good man, and you did good.

@@michelletrimmer6750 it's because it was loud,really loud.At 350 meters away it may have reached 200 decibels (I was 5km away from the blast.despite taking 15 seconds to arrive to me,it was as loud as a thunderbolt striking right besides you,which is around 120 decibels)

His calmness with telling this story and describing what he saw and went through is amazing. He is disturbed by it but he knows it’s crucial that the world hears it. I salute this man

The world has to know this: 220 people have died ,more than 7000 were injured , a city was destroyed,kids still till this day can't sleep at night, people lost there hands and arms and eyes for what? Why? Justice needs to be made 🇱🇧❤

My family were two hours away from Beirut when the explosion happend some were even in Beirut luckily they all survived but with a hefty bill to pay for the glass

His narrative of survival sent a chill through my spine. To see someone with no eye or a cheek got off the face is frightening. I hope Lebanese people get justice for this explosion.

Unfortunatley, Lebanese people are hostages of a terror group. It is more likely than ever that this terror group will be blamed soon for the explosion. I hope Lebanon will be free. PEACE.
The government knew about the ammonium nitrate was stored near the fire, and instead of start evacuating people they did nothing. All the firefighters who were blown to pieces while doing their job, and didn't have a clue about the danger is heartbreaking.

I live 15km away from the port, i was outside with my siblings and there were clear skies, and the ground suddenly shook and we heard like thunder. I was like wtf happened and my neighbor told us to go home and take cover, because we didn't know if it was an attack. We turned on the TV to see, well everything.
If he's not a writer or a poet, he should give it a serious try. There's talent.
They were living their normal lives, everyone around this place. No one should have to experience this and all of a sudden thousands of people's lives changed, and I am inspired by Fadi and everyone who went through this. Amazing people and I only wish the best for everyone who has been through this tragedy.
this is exactly what the people of Yemen, Syria, Afghanistan, Palestine etc. go through almost every day. It's a sad world we live in
Unfortunately, we weren't and still not living a good life, the explosion was the cherry on top after a year of financial collapse which left more than 50% of the population below poverty rate.

I’m lebanese, fortunate enough to live in denmark. When i heard about the explosion my heart dropped for my family in lebanon, but thank god nothing happened to them physically because of the explosions. What a brave man, may god protect you and your family🙏

Think about that statement for a second. "the dust goes into the back of your eyes." Think about the physics of that. The pressure is so strong that when it hits you, your eyes being elastic actually go back further into your head and the dust flies in. Before it recoils back to normal. That's insane. Glad he made it out alive. Respect's to the firefighters & the others that didn't.

His description of the sound of the blast was on point...when I was first trying to make sense of it in the aftermath, I remember describing it as sounding like the skies themselves were charging in through my window, and like thousands of people were screaming out all at once.
His explanation captured me completely. It was shocking and depressing to hear what he observed, but it was a very good ending to hear that he, and all of his friends, survived and are thriving now.
that blast was absolutely insane, the shockwave was just like a small atomic bomb and there is so much footage of it. Seeing the wave hitting the buildings is wild. Glad he survived.
It was more powerful than a small nuke. The smallest nuke the US has, has a yield of 300 tons of tnt. That explosion had a yield of 500 - 1100 tons of tnt. Most of the power from the explosion went up in the sky and that's a good thing. If it had been an air burst, things would have been way worse.
It was an Israeli attack. Testing weapons on Lebanese and Palestinian civilians.

Fadi is a really good friend. I watched that explosion on TV like everyone else. I was shocked but a week later there was something else in the news and life goes on. It’s nice to hear this story so you can really see how people’s lives are impacted. It’s a lesson that life can change in a instant and helping one another is really all that matters.
I cried for this man. Even though his friend made it, just going through all that is a nightmare.
Honestly nothing has touched and shocked me this much in a long time like him telling his story and describing what happened...
I remember being next to ground zero in Manhattan back in 2001. This took me back there. The insanity that humans can do. This man is beyond strong.

I remember sitting in my bedroom in Scotland when the videos came out of the explosion. They took my breath away, I don't think I've ever had the air sucked out of my lungs like that. I'd heard that description before, but never experienced it myself. I called my dad back in Ireland straight away and asked him if he'd seen it, and we were just in total shock. He spent a brief period of time in Beirut quite a few years ago, just over a summer working with students, but he loved the place and the people. And of course, the food! I've always been told about the food. My heart aches for you all - those immediately impacted, and the people of Lebanon in general. I don’t know where the footage came from but it’s definitely not from his phone. He was filming from the ground and the footage we see is from high up.

There's lots of footage of the explosion.
One of thousands on ordinary people who did extraordinary things in the minutes, hours, days and weeks after the explosion. My heart goes out to all the souls that were either lost or damaged that day.
Hard to believe that was a year ago already.
It really shows how people coming together in crisis is what makes a difference, not people retreating to their bunkers to their ammo and MREs.
Another side of this (something Fadi touched on at the end) is something that most people are never tested enough to learn about themselves: your will gets you through things you would never imagine your body is capable of. It's different for everyone, but how you come through a crucible event like this can show you who you are today and shape who you become for the rest of your life.
I was born in Beirut during the war. Thankfully, we fled when I was just a baby. I have always wonder what kind of life I would've had if we stayed. A part of me feels guilty that I got to be the lucky one to leave. God bless Lebanon and the Lebanese people who have suffered so much. God damn their government for their corruption and greed! ahh i remember that day, i was lucky to be up in the mountains, but i still felt the force, but nothing compared to those in beirut and in so grateful that i’m fine, but i feel so sad for those who are gone

"Can you see me with this eye? Then that's all you need to worry about!" ok I laughed pretty hard at that one. Pretty sure he saved his friend Joe's life. Oh wow, this video just came out. I really appreciate that he shared his story with all of the details. I like that now he carries MORE first aid kits. What a boss this guy is, definitely a hero even if he doesn't feel like one.
It's mad that when people tell their stories the moments they break down. For this guy it was when he knew Joe was safe and going to be OK... It shows you the points at which true emotion takes over and when re-telling a story it floods back in that moment.
A very level headed guy, that coped well with the terrible situation.

What a remarkable person. Ignoring entirely the astonishing actions on that day, that surely saved several lives, just how he talks about his friends speaks volumes. The joy of being able to report his best friend is doing "amazing". The man has a big heart.

Survivor’s guilt is the price we pay for living beyond what we thought we should - life is such a fragile, wonderful thing amidst all the chaos. You did several amazing, wonderful things for people that day. It’s okay to hurt. It’s okay to be angry. It’s okay to feel vengeful. I hope you feel every moment of joy you can even fathom, for the rest of your life.

You are a hero! I wish to god there was someone out there when I was a kid and horrific things happened to me. Barely 1 month after I turned 15 I was abused in a group home I had just moved into because my Grandmum who raised me from 6 months old was put into a home for Alzheimer's.. I can't go further with those events that occurred but it was as bad as it gets THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING THERE FOR THE KIDS U SAVE TODAY. YOU TRULY ARE A HERO!
Have you tried therapy? Sometimes it does good to talk things through to help with past traumas. Either way, I hope you’re doing better now.
