Every band has influences. I think that's completely normal. What fascinates me most about Lovebites is this technical live perfection. I never thought something like this was possible. For me, next level and gold standard. The songwriting is phenomenal. All the drops and licks and transitions. Wtf...
I believe they took their name from Halestorm's Love Bites (so do I) because when they were getting Asami (vocals) to join the band they thought that the vocals from that Halestorm song would suit her. Couple of years later Asami joined Halestorm live on stage to do that song with them.
Thanks for giving Lovebites a second chance. To be honest, I'm not a metalhead, but I love really good music regardless of the genre and listen to all different types & sources. So I'm definitely a fan of Lovebites because they are such amazing musicians and craft wonderful compositions. I watch dozens of different reactors because I learn so much from the analysis and viewpoints from them all, so thank you for your insights!
If your first encounter to LOVEBITES was the MV version of Judgement Day, things would have been less of a bumpy road 😁 But I do agree. Some swear on live versions, but the latest tour videos (Knockin at Heaven's Gate) were becoming too Bloodstocky for me due to the sound mixing. The next two songs showed us though. 😊

You have just watched a video with a significant degree of audio compression. You can imagine how it sounds as a blu-ray and on good hardware. Not only every sound is audible, but all these sounds are full-fledged and very beautiful. The guitar timbres are just great, the Lovebites guitarists attach great importance to this and have achieved outstanding results. The vocals sound like live with all the overtones and in a good dynamic range, the whole process of sound production, the beginning of the sound and its fading is audible. The sound of the rhythm section (bass and drums) is just great. The low frequencies are well controlled, the high frequencies are very clean, without sand. Both studio and concert releases by Lovebites are made at the highest international level and, most importantly, they are made with the expectation of listening on good equipment. Because their music itself is such that it makes no sense to listen to it on mobile devices or in formats with a high degree of compression, which leads to losses and simplification of the sound. Surprisingly, everything released by Lovebites has been made with very high quality since the very beginning of their existence. All seven of their concert blu-ray (2018-2023) have excellent sound and video. They can be reviewed endlessly. This is the best investment in a music product. This is comparable to the four blu-ray Dream Theater I have.

You always hear something new when re-listening to a Lovebites song. So many intricacies in their music. Headphones are always the best to catch it all.
(Pincushion) indeed, and, as mentioned, there are albums out there (like dark side of the moon) that will not come across appropriately without headphones. Just be aware that we DO have about 2 months of upcoming videos where there will be majority listening on a speaker due to the change in listening happening after we recorded a bunch of material.
LOVEBITES declared early on their goal was to make music like IRON MAIDEN. But it’s their Thrash that thrills me (I’m and old Metalhead who bought a 100th-generation copy of METALLICA’s demo CD while waiting for KEA to come out.) And A FROZEN SERENADE is indeed a special song. One thing to understand about LOVEBITES fans and JUDGEMENT DAY, is that was the first song released (as an OMV), after a nearly two-year hiatus as the band reformed after the departure of MIHO. The song not only introduced a new bassist, FAMI, but a radically new sound. The studio recording and mix are spectacular. True fans listed to that countless times before hearing this KNOCKING AT HEAVEN’S GATE performance, which to be honest, doesn’t sound as good, audio quality wise. But as fans listen to it, they are also hearing the very familiar studio recording in their head at the same time. Also, this song has the longest section of M&M leads (not solos) in the LOVEBITES catalog. BTW, the twin lead guitarists of THE HELLACOPTERS do a similar trading off of lead and rhythm in their spectacular live performance of DISAPPOINTMENT BLUES on the bonus disk included on their PAYIN’ THE DUES CD.

If everything is good with the sound of LOVEBITES and the speaker, you should hear all 5 lines seperately (drums, bass, guitars, voice), there should nothing be hidden in the sound mesh...
In the case of LOVEBITES, they actually DO use the same team to mix the albums and the live shows. It is the same team that also mixes for Nightwish. However, during the 2023 shows, they changed the mix a little bit because they wanted to capture more of the crowd ambience and get more of a "live" sound, so more of the sound was ambient, whereas previous shows' sound was almost entirely through the board.
Regardless of the style you hear in metal, you always have to highlight the talent of the musicians, and here it is, lovebites does not focus on a single style, power, speed, trash, heavy or a mix, a lot of versatility. Please react to other songs live, they won't disappoint you. Live 2020, 2021 and/or 2023 with your new bassist. Ty.

It was composed by Miyako (piano on A Frozen Serenade), who studied Classical piano from age 3. She bought a guitar in high school and taught herself out of a book @ 18. She also has a degree in music composition. As a big Lovebites Fan i agree that people dont like them. Why not everybody has a different taste. So just stay true to yourself
