Grunge never took hold of Japan so Heavy Metal and Hard Rock never left. You're witnessing a golden renaissance in J-Metal and J-Rock that has been growing internationally for the last 14-18 years. Especially the all-female bands which Japan has the most in number and per capita than any nation. There are hundreds of all-female Japanese bands in many genres. Not to takeaway from the good and great Japanese male dominant bands but people tend to take more notice to the women.

Thank you for coming back to Lovebites. The Japanese girl bands are saving metal, and Lovebites are at the apex.
Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. She is self-taught on the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: ruclips.net/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/видео.html.

THAT WAS F AWESOME! They are untouchable at the BPMs (beets per minute) they play at and the complexity. It would be absolutely awesome if you did the following songs in this order. 😂
    - Break the Wall live 2020
    - A Frozen Serenade live 2021
    - Judgement Day live 2023
    - Swan song w/Chopin intro live 2020
    - Hammer of Wrath live 2023
    - Epilogue live 2019
    - Soldier Stands Solitarily livestream version with the ladies themselves
One word when you're done: DISORIENTED. 😂 If you hadn't seen it with your own eyes you would never believe it's one band doing all these songs...because of the diversity.
Great reaction you two! Yes, Japan is seething with talent but Lovebites are my favorite band period. 🤘

This June I'm going to do something I've never done before: follow a band round their tour! Got tickets to four of their gigs in Europe. All four tickets were criminally cheap for such elite musicians, and the venues where they will be playing are also ridiculously small for such an amazing band. It's great for the audience, as we'll be able to see and hear them really close. I'm sure it will be a fantastic experience! But it does feel a bit odd as Lovebites deserve so much better. And as soon as two other Japanese bands - Band-Maid and Nemophila - should come anywhere near to where I live, I'll be there too! (Nemophila is currently going through some troubled waters as one of their members has just left, but I'm sure they will be able to overcome this setback and continue to kick ass. As Lovebites does with Fami, who replaced Miho.)

Nice reaction...here's a sub! Japan is where it's at right now for rock and metal. The bassist in this video, Miho, left the band a couple years ago. They took a hiatus, two of them had babies, and they went through a long audition process which resulted in the hiring of Fami as the new bassist. At 21 years old, she is about 10 years younger than the rest of the band, and is something of a prodigy. Any songs suggested from Judgement Day and Knocking at Heaven's Gate I or II will be with Fami. The dark-haired guitarist, Miyako, is also a concert-level classical pianist and brings a classical influence into her compositions. Lovebites don't have a bad song, so you really can't go wrong.
I could suggest 30 other fantastic Japanese and Korean bands but long lists are boring to read :) Just know you are on the precipice of a rabbit hole that you will not want to find your way out of for a very long time! Try Band-Maid, Nemophila, and Hanabie for starters.

      @jawosammadennhier7062 4 месяца назад +4

"of our lifetime"? With all due respect: I even think that they play the best Metal _in music history_ . And I am not even getting emotional on this. I mean: They perform _everything_ you possibly can within the Metal genre. Asami can even _growl_ ("Dissonance", studio recording), Haruna is an unstoppable and precise top speed drummer, and take into account the _iconic_ "M&M" dual-shredding passages... And every one of these ladies is able to play at least one intrument (Miyako even plays _four_ - piano, guitar, bass, drums), and they all _can sing_ . Therefore, Lovebites i.m.h.o. is the most _skilled_ Metal band in _music history_ . No other Metal band unites so much creativity and so many individual skills - as far as I know.

    " A Frozen Serenade " live in Tokyo 2021
    &

@@1970Phoenix For Break the Wall, the instrumentals are good, but the vocals are lacking. Because of this, it might not hold the same appeal for some. Although, it still depends on the reactor.
From the first two songs, ultimately my comparison would go like: Set the World on Fire > Holy War > Break the Wall. So to me, that would be a decline in the watch order (particularly because of the vocals). Obviously, people have their own opinions.

      @hiawatha.g Месяц назад

@@user-ho6qk6xx7r It's too long to fit in one comment, so here it is in a few pieces:
Japan has had an active all-girl rock and metal scene since at least 1981. This is a starter list of all-female (or in eight cases, mixed gender) metal, punk, hard-rock and post-rock bands, with founding dates where I know them. It's alphabetical, except for the first three, which are at the top of the list for historical reasons. They set the table for the explosion of Japanese female hard-rock, punk and metal bands. Note: I have tried to pick clips that are high quality and are representative of the band's style.
If you put the question out there, you are likely to get suggestions mainly for Aldious, Band-Maid, Babymetal, Lovebites, Nemophila, Unlucky Morpheus and Wagakki Band. (If you area long-time listener or reviewer you have undoubtedly heard many of these). You can’t go wrong with any of them, but find time to check out more of the bands on this list. They are all worth the time and deserve the love, and many will really surprise you. My personal favorites include Asterism, Bridear, Doll$Boxx/Gacharic Spin, existTtrace, Hagane, Hanabie, Mary’s Blood, Sokoninaru and Tricot. Ok, the list:
Show-Ya (1981) The original female J-metal band, founded before Metallica-this is from their 24th (!) anniversary concert-and they are still touring. They have a strong Deep Purple vibe, and in my view they belong in any rock or music hall of fame. “I am the Storm” ruclips.net/video/oJ_5Gv3vFjQ/видео.html
Shonen Knife (1981) The world’s first bubblegum punk band. They have done several world tours, and opened for Nirvana, who were big fans. They also perform as a Ramones tribute band called Osaka Ramones. ruclips.net/video/w9LUlYzOiWs/видео.html
Destrose (2005) This band was never stable, but has become almost mythic in metal history, because they spun off so many great bands, including Lovebites--you will recognize the drummer and bassist. Here are two clips-a lot of them get taken down so please let me know if either of these is dead:
      ruclips.net/video/JpyzVlPJC2g/видео.html
      ruclips.net/video/e-CH-FLS2kM/видео.html
(This cuts off just after Narumi’s guitar solo-but they didn’t cut that, and it’s gorgeous.)
Aldious (2008) Glamorous and kick-ass rockers. One of the first generation all-girl metal bands, along with Destrose. ruclips.net/video/sfkJT0rra-8/видео.html
Asterism (2013) Power trio that will melt your face off. Guitarist Haruka Noma is off the charts talented and just turned 21. ruclips.net/video/IfxMi0Bx4x0/видео.html
Babymetal (2010) The flagship “Kawaii metal” band and the most well-known Japanese metal act outside of Japan. Combining “Kawaii” (cute) Japanese pop tropes over thunderous heavy metal backing from Kami Band. ruclips.net/video/cK3NMZAUKGw/видео.html
Band-Maid (2013) OK, there are 160+ great songs by them. Easily the best known band on this list other than Babymetal, they are more hard rock and prog than metal. Did a 14 city US tour in 2022 that sold out 48 hours after being listed, and a 2023 global 10th anniversary tour. There is a ton of fan footage of that tour up on youtube, a lot of which is great stuff. Here is a live clip: ruclips.net/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/видео.html
Bridear (2011) Heavy, technical, and their tiny bassist also growls. They are releasing a new album in June 2024 that is a real killer. This is from their original lineup: ruclips.net/video/LQIDqudG_DQ/видео.html
Cyntia (2011) Second wave, hard, heavy, but with prog and symphonic touches.
      ruclips.net/video/FnhObh5i_3U/видео.html
D-Drive (2009) Instrumental progressive metal and fusion; Mixed gender. Extraordinary, technical dual lead guitars featuring Yuki and Seiji) Here is a one of my favorites, a gorgeous, moody jazz-blues-prog fusion number: ruclips.net/video/m5G3nXJtSzQ/видео.html
Disqualia (2015) Destrose spin-out, featuring Narumi, one of the best guitarists of this generation, and Hazuki, then an up-and-coming talent who is now the lead guitarist of Nemophila. ruclips.net/video/-M5zBKrTJRg/видео.html
Doll$Boxx (2012) Wild mix of metal, electropop, and god-knows what else; a collaboration between Fuki, best-known as the co-founder of Unlucky Morpheus, and Gacharic Spin. ruclips.net/video/mu2z4Uf9Tgc/видео.html
East of Eden (2023) Supergroup assembled by Ayasa, the fabulous violinist whose day job is with Morphonica, one of the BangDream projects. Here, Sakura does a magical solo using a Phrygian scale at warp speed:

Hanabie (2019) Kawaii death metal, deathcore, thrash (they jokingly call it “Harajuku-core, after a district in Tokyo famous for exuberant youth culture). Technical. Most frequent comment is “That’s nuts.” One of the bands to watch over the next few years, they played three North American festivals in 2023 and are continuing to tour. ruclips.net/video/G18yyvPCiTM/видео.html

There are many more. Others that come to mind are BRATS (cofounded by one of the members of Ladybaby), Drop’s, Stereopony, Scandal (still touring globally), and Princess Princess, which all tend more in the pop direction. On the metal side, there are the Bang-Dream projects, which are live groups based on Manga series (there are 9 bands so far in Bang-Dream). And of course, there are other female-fronted Kawaii-metal groups like Ladybaby and Ironbunny, to name the two best-known after Babymetal. I have found listings of over 600 such bands dating back to 1980. The ones listed above are my picks as the most interesting for reasons of quality, longevity or historical impact. If you find others you think belong on this list, please let me know. And if you find a dead link, also please let me know so I can fix the list. Thank you!

    LOVEBITES - Holy War lyrics:
Look at those black clouds, it’s going to rain blood
People live in fear, covered in mud
Singing oh Gloria to change the prophecy
    We are the metal warriors
    Fighting the darkness for sisters
There is a thousand, a thousand of evils
Hush, do not wake up Satan’s devils
Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty
    We are the metal warriors
    Fighting the darkness for brothers
    Shining blade and burning heart
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Immortal soul, let there be light
    Into the Eye of Heaven
    Eagles at a holy war
    Fly higher than the sun
We are one for all and all for one forevermore
    SOLO: midori
Kingdom of Heaven, never shall we fall
    Reincarnation, wait for your call
Singing oh, Gloria to change the prophecy
    We are the metal warriors
    Fighting the darkness for sisters
    Morning star and dying moon
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Mighty soul, let there be hope
    Into the Eye of Heaven
    Eagles at a holy war
    Fly higher than the sun
Stand up in the name of the God of heavy metal
What do we live for? What do we fight for, tonight?
But the world is beautiful, worth fighting for
Only have one thing on our mind
    Facing the fate, holy war
SOLO: miyako / midori / both
Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty
    We are the metal warriors
    Fighting the darkness for brothers
    Shining blade and burning heart
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Immortal soul, let there be light
    Into the Eye of Heaven
    Eagles at a holy war
    Fly higher than the sun
We are one for all and all for one forevermore
What do we live for? What do we fight for, tonight?

So many great Metal and rock bands in Japan and lots of variety - Hanabie (metalcore / nu metal with elements of punk, hip hop and electronica), Glim Spanky (essentially blues rock, the vocalist Remi can sound awfully like Janis Joplin and they have covered some of her songs) and then my favourite progressive rock band, Band Maid (pretty much all sorts of rock from ballads to hard rock bordering on metal) as has been mentioned elsewhere Hate? live is the current goto song as a start.

This is one of their best songs and best performances. The guitar solos are not merely flashy, they are beautifully melodic. After listening a few times, you will be singing along with the solos.
There are many other amazing, currently active bands in Japan, but for my money BAND-MAID, another all-female five piece, are at the top of the heap. It’s hard to pigeon-hole this band, as they play with a greater diversity of musical styles, so it might take some time to fully appreciate the depth of their creativity and the other elements that make them so great. Because you like it hard and heavy, I would recommend getting started with these songs:
BLOOMING, one of their hardest-rocking and exciting songs - ruclips.net/video/uUt_JBMocKM/видео.htmlsi=GmctV9ORXW2s68jg
DOMINATION, a live performance captured just days before the Pandemic started shutting the world down, captures so many elements of their awesomeness in one video - ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.htmlsi=8omfNL3gTYNGt-8M
HATE?, a recent live performance of a recent song shows how than can fill an arena with a crushing sound - ruclips.net/video/yfORoQIqB3E/видео.htmlsi=0ZX4QNrPc5c-cgeZ
For more METAL, NEMOPHILA are another all-female five-piece (oops, now four-piece) with a twin-guitar attack. Try this performance of OIRAN - ruclips.net/video/5qABnfChpbk/видео.html
    Great hair, by the way.

Been watching them a lot-every day since seeing them for the first time about a month ago. Im a kid of the Woodstock generation and listened to Hendrix-Zeppelin-Who-Cream over and over {and luckily saw them all} and many other groups that ALL had kickass guitarists as well. I have heard and listened to some great groups since then but have never played a group this much over and over in MANY years. This might seem like hyperbole but they have a super group edge to them with the talent everywhere. I hear they are coming to the US-hope to see then sometime.

But I would recommend "Swan Song with Chopin intro" for your next one.
Also: "Lost In The Garden", "Frozen Serenade", "Under The Red Sky", "My Orion".

This is the original line up of Lovebites with bassist Miho, co founder of the band with drummer Haruna. Miho left for personal reasons toward the end of 2021 and the band went on hiatus for nearly 2 years until after a world wide search they recruited a new bass player in the form of 20 year old Fami. They played the first gig with Fami in Tokyo, March 2023 and this year are doing a tour of Europe kicking off in London in June and will play their first gig in the USA later in the year.
If you like high energy songs, try Thunder Vengeance.

Absolutely my favorite band with my absolute favorite drummer - Haruna! Haruna! Haruna! She is a power house and the Energizer Bunny has nothing on her.

The song that opened the show is the one right before this one. Thunder Vengeance. It was the second song I had heard from them after Set the World on Fire just over three years ago...my jaw hit the ground. Thunder Vengeance was how to open a show. WOW!😍

it's sooo hard not to listen to their entire catalog on a binge. but we thank you for saving all of the rest for true first time reactions. you have a long way to go and when you see some of the other styles of songs they play you will truly appreciate the immense talent possessed. power and thrash are some of their best but they do it all as you will soon find out.

Lovebites to me is the best metal band out of Japan. When it comes to best overall band from Japan playing so many different genres of rock, Band-Maid is by far my #1.

I've just found this band a few months ago when watching band maid another Japanese rock/metal band and I found band maid while watching the warning band videos they are from Monterey Mexico, 3 things I have learned watching these bands is #1 I have not heard a bad song yet from any of them #2 they are all excellent on there instruments and #3 if anyone thought rock is dead (I was starting to think that) is way wrong it's just moved to Japan and Mexico lol if you want to check out the other bands domination live by band maid would be an excellent place to start and the warning evolve live at MTV video music awards 2024 would be a good place to start with them they blew the roof off MTV did not know what hit them lol 🤟 great reaction guys 🤟
