Did you just clean the visible parts or somehow cleaned underneath the impeller as well? Cleaning the visible parts didn't do it for me. I still need to give the impeller a nudge to get it to working. I am almost there, but couldn't get it done. Pretty annoying. I already replaced the switch and I don't want to replace the whole thing...
Thank you! This saved me from buying a new pump! I could hear the motor hum when I plugged it in but the impeller wasn’t moving. I thought the motor or drive shaft was shot but after watching your video I opened mine up and it was just sediment and mineral buildup that was impeding the impeller. I didn’t know that was such a common issue.
Great little video with excellent step by step instruction. Gonna take mine apart tomorrow-hopefully it’s just an impeded impeller and I’ll save a couple hundred dollars!
Please pray for my uncle. I believe he may be in the sump pump reselling business and it’s getting pretty bad. He didn’t choose that life, that life chose him.
Hey! Dis is yo uncle! Why you be snitchin on my refurbished but sold as new pump binezz? Im looking for you now Neph Neph. You taking food outcha cousins mouth with dis one. lol
You told us 1000 times that you don’t resell the pump but when it came to the actual repair - the cleaning …you didn’t say how you cleaned it… water? PB blaster? What did you use?
I've had to actually pull one of those out of the pit, after unplugging it of course and sit it on a table and take a dental tool and actually pull strings of cloth that came from towels that were old and pick the string out of the pump, took maybe 45 minutes, and looked it over good afterwards and it ran for at least another 6 months by just taking the proper tools and patience to do the right thing for it.
I understand pumps don't need to run 24 hrs a day, but those hours would be a total of 225 continuous days running. Just a little bit of maintenance on a pump and will last for many many years...
It was the impeller. Must of been hanging up on the bushings. Put it back together and it works fine. But I’ll keep an eye on it, force it to work once in a while to check.
How do you know how many hours this pump has run ? I agree that pump doesn’t has much life left . Reinstalling problem pump is asking for problem . Flooding damage n return trip to fix is more expensive
Excellent video. Any thoughts on WHY the Float Switch is a double-pole switch? I'm don't understand why they are disconnecting the Neutral and the Hot lead with the switch? I'd rather hook both poles of the switch to the Hot lead so you have a redundant switch (Spare). Our Zoeller M53 had one side of the switch fail and of course the pump stopped. If I had wired it redundant, our Pump would have not stopped. Every Pump I have examined has both leads interrupted by the 2-pole switch.
I have a little giant sump pump. what is the black circle about the size of a penny with 4 small holes in it on the top of the pump. WHat kind of oil goes in the motor?
Question: I bought a pump at a store closing sale, 30 years ago. Used it about an hour once. I pulled it out to use it again and the box and pump were oily, so it is leaking oil somewhere. It runs for 10 minutes and then stops. 15 minutes later it restarts. Is it worth fixing?
Same happened to mine. Took the bottom off and gave it a nudge and it started spinning. Only problem is sometimes it spins and sometimes it doesnt. Is there a way to remove the impeller?
I have the same problem. I have a buzzing sound when I turn it on. If I assist it just a tiny bit, it works very powerfully. But every time I turn it off, it needs assistance to move again... I don't know how to clean. I even have put the whole pump in CLR to get rid of the gunk... I changed the switch. It still only makes humming noise and needs that tiny bit of assistance to work... Why did you not show the part where thats literally the title? You cut the part how you cleaned the underneath.
Is there a way to clean in between the impeller and cast iron part without taking the whole thing apart? Seems like cleaning the visible parts are not enough to get it work for me. Thanks for the video.
My pump is only 4 years old. Goes off a multiple times a day. I have orange sludge in my pit and it got into the bottom of pump. My pump is working slower now takes about 2 mins to fully get rid of water. I took pump out and cleaned it but still slow. What's wrong with it?
Honest man you could’ve made so much money selling these pumps. I heard you state 3 times seperately in the video that you aren’t selling them, almost 70% of the comment section is “are you re selling them” wow

guys, the building I work on, the builders put in the sump pump basin and then poured the concrete foundation lol the lid is bigger than the hole, I just had to cut a sump pump lid in half to get it off lol dammit
you touching the impellow with your pliers lol I was screaming at my computer, I think my pumps given up the ghost, I can't get the impeller to turn, I think iron bacteria got inside it. RIP
FINALLY, someone shows whats happening inside the impellor area. This is a great video . DOUBLE thumbs up!
Hello, I watched your video this morning and you saved me over $200 on a new pump. I did as you suggested and my pump now runs like a champ.
Thank you
I owe you a beer my friend. Cleaned all the black hardened sludge out of mine started turning faster and more quite than before.

aguyandhiscomputer it was the camera making it look as though it was spinning slower
@@BuildingWithZach ok, makes sense. Wasn't sure since the screwdriver clicking noise didn't sound that fast.
