As much of a joke as tabloid journalism is I think Shayne and Courtney aren't really famous enough to be able to convince People to help them lie about this in an article on the site and they are too smart to burn that bridge by not involving them in the lie and therfore giving comments on the situation that are false several days after the fact. Doing so could sour all other tabloids opinion of them forever and like it or not you want the people who write the news to like you

It's so much fun seeing Shane and Courtney playing everyone without even trying. I love the whole thing, either way. They either make a lovely couple, or they're just hilarious and dedicated to the bit. Both options make me smile. I've seen enough of both to know they definitely would go that far for a joke, but I also think if it was a joke they would have fessed up by now. I should point out too that other Smosh members have played quite elaborate pranks on each other that lasted weeks. Arasha lying about being cast in a Marvel movie, and Angela getting revenge on her by pretending to become best pals with her best pal... I still think it's genuine, but I won't be too surprised if they reveal it's a prank in a future video.
They've never been comfortable with people speculating on their relationship to this level before. If they're faking it it would be very out of character for both of them. It's real.

As a Smosh fan who got back on the train in early 2023, after not watching their vids for a while, this reveal was shocking, yet also somehow made a lot more sense than I was expecting. These two have just radiated incredible energy together throughout their time together at Smosh. Out of respect for their comfort, the ship (that I didn't care much for) started to wane a little bit over time, but seeing this first post, yeah at first we thought it was a prank. Then more stuff got posted... and then more stuff... It's real. At this point, if it weren't, it wouldn't be a prank, it'd just be cruel, which these two are not. The reason is because all the April Fools stuff is buggy and unbalanced, and the stuff in vanilla has to be polished and balanced and fit in with the game well.

When i was in middle school, I mustered up the courage to ask out this girl i had liked. She surprised me when she said yes. It felt amazing at the time. To be fair to the fanbase, shipping Courtney and Shayne was something that people did, got out of hand, and they both expressed their extreme frustration throughout the videos. We've always known they were good friends. Like eerily good friends, but nothing wrong with that. It would make sense they didn't post pictures together for fear of being shipped while they were in London, even if they went together as friends. I don't blame people for not catching on. They had gotten to a point where it was no longer a question of them just being really good friends. Hell, even Ian told us that they had to stop being in so many videos together because people were shipping them so much.

I know I’m late to this, but it just popped up on my feed. I also hate April Fools Day. April 1st is my Friday 13th. I got run over on my way to work on April 1st, and I fractured my ankle in two places and tore the ligaments. Someone who stopped to help me called my workplace and they didn’t know if it was a sick prank. Then work struggled to find cover for me because everyone they called thought it was a sick prank too. A few years later, I was working as an English teacher in Seoul. On April 1st, when I was almost ready for work, I spilled hot coffee all over myself so I had to treat the scald and change clothes which all made me late for work. I ran onto the train just as the doors were closing, and my keys flew out of my pocket and landed on the narrow ledge between the train and the subway platform. I reached out to grab my keys, and the doors closed on my arm. The train wouldn’t move whilst my arm was stuck in the doors, but the doors weren’t opening. They were just closing in tighter on my arm and I still couldn’t reach my keys. The other commuters seemed more concerned by the fact that I was delaying their journey than the fact that my arm was being crushed. Eventually, the doors flew open, and I was able to free my arm and grab my keys. Nothing was broken, but I had a nasty bruise on my arm for weeks, plus a scar on my chest from the scalding hot coffee. Of course, when I tried to explain why I was late to work to my boss, he thought it was an April Fools prank. So yeah, I hate April Fools.
5:25 It is important to mention - that April Fools updates are presumably used to test new mechanics or use stuff some of the staff has worked on through the year. Updates are also commonly unstable, which is why a lot of those features aren't just added to the game. Especially as they have to make stuff that works for all the versions. But some of the things has been either added or reused. Like copper blocks we recently got were to some extend within the update that added Moon. We could probably expect some boss fights alike to the potato boss, coming into the game at some point. Same with the cloud launcher that would work well with elevators and floating platforms for the base game.
The discord one was funny because it now has the record technically for the most viewed video in 24 hours and it’s never going to be beat unless Facebook does something similar

They successfully hid their relationship for probably like 4 years and announced it and their wedding on april fools. That's hilarious.

Even on both of their Wiki pages it says they are each other’s spouse. And People Magazine did a story on the wedding, so I don’t think this would be all for an April Fools joke.

When i was in middle school, I mustered up the courage to ask out this girl i had liked. She surprised me when she said yes. It felt amazing at the time. Then, she shouts "April Fool's" and laughed at me. It was one of the most humiliating things that ever happened to me.

Same. I'm also autistic. I'm at university and stressed and getting no sleep, and my little sister rang me way too early in the morning to tell me she'd destroyed my other sister's toy accidentally and what should she do about it. I believed her and gave her a bunch of advice and couldn't go back to sleep again. It was annoying. Plus they prank me all the time because they've worked out I just believe everything they say.

one of my favorite april fools jokes was when the devs of Payday 2 made an update saying they changed the weapon sounds to make them "more realistic".
and they did actually update the game with new sounds. all the sounds were just a gay going "pew pew pew pew", "rattatatatata", "woooooshhhh" and so on. brilliant.

To be fair to the fanbase, shipping Courtney and Shayne was something that people did, got out of hand, and they both expressed their extreme frustration throughout the videos. We've always known they were good friends. Like eerily good friends, but nothing wrong with that. It would make sense they didn't post pictures together for fear of being shipped while they were in London, even if they went together as friends. I don't blame people for not catching on. They had gotten to a point where it was no longer a question of them just being really good friends. Hell, even Ian told us that they had to stop being in so many videos together because people were shipping them so much.

Shayne and Courtney have known each other for YEARS, they have undeniable chemistry and they are in the age that people usually get married at like if you really look at it there's no way this is a joke. I think they posted it on april fools day to wind people up but also because its been a joke for so long that they are secretly in a relationship so for them to actually be in one, it just works perfectly. Also everyone is confirming its real and I extremally highly doubt anyone would ever put that much effort into an april fools joke especially when it comes to a wedding prank. I know I’m late to this, but it just popped up on my feed. I also hate April Fools Day. April 1st is my Friday 13th. I got run over on my way to work on April 1st, and I fractured my ankle in two places and tore the ligaments. Someone who stopped to help me called my workplace and they didn’t know if it was a sick prank. Then work struggled to find cover for me because everyone they called thought it was a sick prank too.
A few years later, I was working as an English teacher in Seoul. On April 1st, when I was almost ready for work, I spilled hot coffee all over myself so I had to treat the scald and change clothes which all made me late for work. I ran onto the train just as the doors were closing, and my keys flew out of my pocket and landed on the narrow ledge between the train and the subway platform. I reached out to grab my keys, and the doors closed on my arm. The train wouldn’t move whilst my arm was stuck in the doors, but the doors weren’t opening. They were just closing in tighter on my arm and I still couldn’t reach my keys. The other commuters seemed more concerned by the fact that I was delaying their journey than the fact that my arm was being crushed.
Eventually, the doors flew open, and I was able to free my arm and grab my keys. Nothing was broken, but I had a nasty bruise on my arm for weeks, plus a scar on my chest from the scalding hot coffee. Of course, when I tried to explain why I was late to work to my boss, he thought it was an April Fools prank.
So yeah, I hate April Fools.
5:25 It is important to mention - that April Fools updates are presumably used to test new mechanics or use stuff some of the staff has worked on through the year. Updates are also commonly unstable, which is why a lot of those features aren't just added to the game. Especially as they have to make stuff that works for all the versions. But some of the things has been either added or reused. Like copper blocks we recently got were to some extend within the update that added Moon. We could probably expect some boss fights alike to the potato boss, coming into the game at some point. Same with the cloud launcher that would work well with elevators and floating platforms for the base game.
The discord one was funny because it now has the record technically for the most viewed video in 24 hours and it’s never going to be beat unless Facebook does something similar
