Very helpful. My PC settings hid those export options 90% of the time so you saved me a lot of aggravation. Hat's off to your tutorial. hope you can make a good series with these.
I'm glad it was helpful, and thank you for the kind words!
You saved me hours of frustration =] hope you jump to the top of recommendations. Not everyone spends that much time CAD to CAM, so anyone bridging the gaps in expertise gets an applaud from me.
excelente video
Autodesk have removed it from the store but can be downloaded from here

I'm using this to create a racecar monocoque buck to create a mold out-of! Thank you.
Best tutorial I have seen about this so far.. Thank you
Wolfram Herzog, you're welcome! It's a pretty cool process.
Thank you, really helpful! Sounds is perfect! Image are readable and instruction are clear. Without to know about our result yet, I hope you make more. This is the kind of learning tutorial we like.
I’m glad you found it helpful! I’m working on ideas for new videos, but it’s hard to find time to make them. Thank you for the encouragement; I’ll try to put a new video up soon.
I just tried your tutorial, all work perfectly so far
I can understand that you are limited on time and this is why I take few minutes of my time to let you know my appreciation as you save me hour of work :) For that I will sponsor your next video whatever it is . Contact me at info@lezar3d.com (Robert)
Very cool. Thanks!
Thank you😍
You're very welcome. Unfortunately, it the software I used has been discontinued for a while now and is very hard to find.
thank you very much . your tutorial was very useful
Thank you for posting this. Really helped a lot.
Could you please show us how to make ( car bucks ) with this software.
Thank u for sharing!
Nice video Joel
Phil Todd, thanks!
gave you new link to >>> Link to Slicer for Fusion 360 ?
as of Jan 2021, it appears that Slicer for Fusion 360 is no longer supported or even available. This video is obsolete.
Your download link is dead. Sorry. It said: (The technology is deprecated and is no longer being maintained and supported by .)
Yes, it looks like the software is no longer available. I don’t know if there’s a good alternative.
How did you change the slice direction? I've been trying for weeks, but it only rotates the model (I can see the handles but cannot "grab" them to change slice direction) no matter if I click, don't click . I tried both mouse buttons, nothing moves the handles, only keeps rotating the model...
I was just playing with this again yesterday, and had trouble dragging the handles myself.
However, I was able to click on a rotation ring and then enter a rotation angle in the field at the bottom of the window.
I’ll try again today and see if I can get dragging to work.
I've taken another look, and it appears to be a little buggy, at least on my computer.
I imported a model, chose my material, chose a slicing method, and went to change the slicing direction. If I then clicked on a ring, I could grab the little cone and drag it (or enter a value in the field at the bottom of the screen). Then, if I reset it, I couldn't do it anymore. I exited Slicer and opened it again. Then I imported the same model again, and was successful in changing the direction again. Pressing reset didn't break it this time.
It's almost as if you need to launch it twice for it to work properly. I'll go submit a bug report.
very helpful video
Aditya Dhanerva I'm glad you found it useful!
Pretty sure I seen Bigfoot riding a unicorn watching this video! I do however wished you broke it down into single layers! Example a baseball bat broken down into horizontal layers for laser cutting! Sorry no sleep
The Bigfoot joke was a compliment and subscribed
You can select a different manufacturing technique for stacked layers.
Or you could, when the software was still officially available and supported.
thanks for this great video.
The Questio I still have and having problem finding online (maybe wrong search terms) is: when I design a puppet/Barbie House in Fusion360 and then want to Laser each wall and segment with a Laser out?
How to approach this and how to do it correct and effective?
Thanks in advance
That’s a much more involved process, and I’m not sure how to do it. There may be plugins available that can help with it.
@@HappyZentraedi thanks joel, much appreciate the reply from you :)
Da kine, you’re welcome! I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
Fusion 360 no longer supports this.
Great. Thank You.
Is there a good alternative to this?
I’ve head that FlatLab is an option but also that it’s pretty old.
There are some installers of SfF360 from August of last year (2020), but I don’t know if they work.
I’m trying to figure out if there are some more manual methods of doing the same thing in Fusion 360 itself, too.
I know there’s paid software that’ll do it, but I don’t remember the name of it.
@@HappyZentraedi it's a shame autodesk does this stuff. I downloaded the slicer but it just crashes. I also tried flatlab but it bogs horribly with basic obj files.
In fusion I sketched a flat rectangle below a solid model. Then duplicated it the right amount of times up through the model. Then used it to cut the model via bolean. It works but isn't exactly a smooth work flow that could be possible in fusion if autodesk would get their stuff together.
Thanks, nice video
ricardrim Thanks, I’m glad you found it helpful!
@@HappyZentraedi Any tips on a good nesting software (free or low cost)?
Slicer is terrible at nesting if it even qualifies as so. :)
ricardrin Sorry, I always just do it manually. I haven’t really looked into nesting software.
How to convert a 3D file into 2D FILE and work with CNC
FOR EX CABINET OR BED HOW Disassembling a cabinet
That's a more complex process, and involves using design software that can create those cut files for you.
NICE~
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words.
I was actually looking for a way to create layers so I can cut them out of particle board (2mm) with a Cricut Maker machine. Your setting was at 3mm. Is 2mm possible?
Absolutely! And you can choose how many slices there are and whether it’s slotted like this or just stacked with or without alignment pins.
Measure your material thickness and use the average of three measurements when creating your material profile.
You can use any thickness and dimensions to work with many different materials.
How do you like your Cricut Maker?
Ha ha ha...I haven't opened it yet because I've been watching a million videos to get comfortable with the ideas. I'm doing well with all that...I watched your video so I could learn to create a cardboard or particle board object....having troubles. I need to keep trying. I've bookmarked your video for reference as it is so easy to understand. It would be nice if you could show the next part where you use inkscape to rearrange. I have inkscape (prior video referred to it) so I plow on. I'd also like to create a stacked bunch of slices, not just a crosshatch as you did. Wow...so much to learn :)
I prefer Illustrator over Inkscape, since I’m more used to it. What specific problems are you having?
Choose the stacked sliced construction method, and it’ll slice it up in 2mm layers for you. It does take more material, but can create really cool results.
Well, I just learned that since I'm a teacher I can get Fusion 360 for 3 years! Yay, got it. I'm presently looking at flat packed furniture to spark my imagination. Can really make furniture on a Cricut but the principles are applicable. I wish there was a single resource/website to find already created layered projects. Any thoughts?
Even if you’re not a teacher, you can get Fusion 360 for free with a startup or hobbyist license.
I love Fusion 360.
can I use this for card making on my Cricut
I don’t see why not. You’ll have to measure your card thickness and create a custom material for it, but that’s not difficult.
And you’ll have to adjust that thickness upwards a little for pivoting if you’re going to have them pivot like Love-Pop cards.
@@HappyZentraedi why don't you do a video for us craft ladies ??
That’s a good idea. I’ll see about putting something together.
@@HappyZentraedi please please do I'm patiently waiting ......using a cricut so I will have to convert it into a SVG file
Are the red shapes with 'multiple notches' error an issue or is it okay?
Lydia Stott, those are shapes that it thinks don’t fit on the sheets. You can ignore it or resize the sheets a little, and rearrange them in your vector software (Illustrator, Inkscape, CorelDraw).
Thankyou! I have some of those, but I am also getting a note saying
Slice Errors: 'multiple notches'.
Is it just concerned that multiple notches in one piece will make it weak?
Lydia Stott, I haven’t run across that error, and I’m not finding a lot about it online. I’ll keep looking, though. At least one person thinks that it shouldn’t be a problem. Can you post a screenshot with your model and the error visible in it?
Ah-ha! I found it in the help file, page 44 (pages 42 and on are great for troubleshooting - click the question mark in the top-right corner of the screen): Part of a interlocked model has extra, unnecessary notches. In some cases, a notch becomes blocked. When printed, you can't lock the two slices together.
Take a close look at the part that's causing the problems, and see if there are notches that don't make sense or are inaccessible. Their suggestions:
-Change the slicing angle
-Drag the slice slightly in one direction
-Delete the affected slice
-Change the construction technique to Stacked Slices
-Resize your model slightly
ah thankyou so much for looking into this for me!! :) I really appreciate it! I have also realized I can pull individual pieces up and down the model and that usually gets rid of the error for me.
