This review is exactly what i was looking for. I wanted to see how to mount the fan as well as the info on the vent positioning. This should honestly be a video that Fireboard does for their site. So informational! The tips on the probe positioning were really helpful as well
I watched a bunch of videos in this unit and this one is, by far, the best and most detailed. Great job and thank you for doing this. Just ordered my Fireboard 2 Drive today!
Awesome review! I purchased this unit online from a local store just prior to watching this review because we need to smoke summer sausage tomorrow and I needed something to help control the temperature and monitor the meat. I'm actually waiting for my wife to bring it home from the store now and watching this video was icing on the cake for using this with my Big Green Egg. Like you, I have a Large and a Mini unit. We do a lot of cooking on the Mini unit since it's usually just my wife and I. I was planning to make an adapter, but from the sounds of it, I won't have to. Thanks for the effort and great content in this review! I look forward to using the product.
awesome video! now I know witch what I'm buying ! I don't know how no one hasn't picked you up as a speaker for there BBQ companies ! very impressed with this unit more then any other unit out there ! Thank you Brad , NJ
I have been a digi-q and cyber-q user for a long time. Recently, I've been looking at upgrading to an easier-to-use wifi/bluetooth connection. This was very helpful! Thanks!
I just purchased this unit mainly to come up to temp as fast as possible for weeknight chicken cooks on my uds thank you for sharing about the 50% fan speed
Great review, lots of good information. I used Ikamand very successfully right up until they stopped support, now it’s just a brick :(. Going out today to get a Fireboard 2 Pro, and will test it on my first 20 hour brisket cook on Dec 30. Your review gives me confidence that I am going to love the Fireboard, which is appreciated when spending $600.00 CAD on a smoker accessory. Keep up the great videos!
Thank you. Drive program is interesting… Similar to ramp mode on my unit… just more control. I’ve been using a DigiQ for 11 yrs… was looking to upgrade so I can have wireless control/notifications.
Great review! I bought the Drive 2 and fan right after Christmas and used it this weekend for the first time. I'm guessing that I need to shut the top vent a little more or relocate the probe, because it was drifting 20-30 degrees higher than where I set it. But I think there's some great potential and I'm looking forward to using it on a lot more cooks.
THANKS!!! I can't wait to fire up my Fireboard 2 soon! just got it. I am looking forward to not having to stay up all night babysitting my smoker! ;) I have a Weber Smokey Mountain, and I ordered the attachment accessory. Thanks for your review, it gave me confidence in my purchase!
The temp controls features and the battery power is nice. I just wished it didn’t protrude so much. I’m a sucker for aesthetics and to me the iKamand integrates into the grill a lot better (assuming you only want it for your kamado Joe). Fireboard trip/break hazard???
On the Masterbuilt Gravity, the BBQ HQ says 100% to get to temp, the back it down to 40% to maintain temp. I just got a Kettle Joe (for 150) and I plan on testing it while my Masterbuilt Gravity is out of commission waiting for new parts.
Thanks for doing this, I have my Big Joe III on order and was looking at different temp controllers and the FireBoard 2 was on the list. Been watching you for a few months now, great to have someone from the area doing this type of content, we are from River Ridge.
Thanks for this review, Fireboard 2 looks way ahead of the competition. I thought I'd have to wait for an iKammand or Billows update and rerelease for temp control on my Kamado Joe. Not anymore!
Been considering buying this. Hands down this is the best review on youtube. Shame I’m in the UK so don’t qualify for giveaway. Never mind thanks for the review 👍
I’ve been slowly researching that but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I will soon. I’ve heard Traeger’s new controller is doing well. I’ll need to research both
Looks like I need to change controllers as the one I have is difficult to connect to my phone. The worst part is I paid over $300.00 for it. My son who is great with phones and computers had a hard time connecting it. Excellent review.
I’ve followed you about the KJ ikommand. I’ve been interested when I get back from deployment am getting a KJ. I may now have to consider this fire board. I think the battery power sold me but certainly looking for more reviews from you and others.
I have a PartyQ with my Akorn. If I was to set at 225 and walk away, it would be over 300 and I'd be unable to get it back unless I waited hours. The Akorn does hold heat more than a typical kamado though. I usually set it to 140 now and go back outside in about 20 minutes and move it up.
I just ordered the Fireboard 2 to use with my PitBoss pellet grill/smoker. Looking forward to incorporating its functionality with what I already have with my Pitboss.
Great video! I'd love to see one of you sharing all your learnings and settings for hitting temps on the Kamado joe! Share some more details on different settings, how you build your fire! for different cooks!
Thanks for the kind words. It hasn’t gotten in my way at all and I’ve never even thought about it. Could just be the way that I interact with the grill but no issues so far.
Enjoyed the review , I've been wanting a temp controller for a long time for my kamado Joe. Been looking at the digiq brand some but I like this set up too! Enjoy your channel, keep up the good work!
Great video. Just received my big joe this week. I’ve been watching your videos and updates and was getting ready to pull the trigger on the ikamand 2 until I just saw this video. If I’m only using on the BJ, what would you say are the benefits of getting this over the ikamand? I might have to wait now and do more research.
Looks like a solid temp controller. I have a Kamado Joe Big Joe 2. Been using Meater Plus for over a year now. Love it but it does have small quirks such as losing signal when you sometimes close the lid or walk back into the house. Looking for a 2nd temp controller. Since you already own the Fireboard 2 Pro your answer may be a bit bias to my question, which is perfectly ok, but would you go with the Fireboard 2 Pro, the Tappecue Touch, or the Thermoworks ThermaQ WiFi High Temp Kit? Thanks for your help.
Thank you for the review. Actually helped me choose this over the Meater. Just got my first Smoker so I’ve been trying to find the best things to make my cooks successfully. Hopefully I can win one!!! Haha
I have a fire board 2 arriving with my LSG IVS. I'm planning on getting a second LSG cooker later this year ( I've started a catering business) Anyways, I'm curious if you can pair two fire boards at the same time to one device ( cell, tablet) so a person can be monitoring and controlling both cookers with just the one device. Thanks for your review, hope to hear a reply.
Hey, thank you for the video. Do you know if the fan set up works on the Weber Smokey Mountain? I purchased the Fireboard 2 Drive based on this great video, now I wonder if I can connect the fan to my WSM? Thanks so much.
Great video! My old BGE controller died and had zero features. I got the FireBoard on a whim, looks like it was a great buy. We just wrapped up a brisket and and I owe the success to the FireBoard.
Just used my fireboard 2 tonight on the big joe for the first time. Man, i should have got one a long time ago. I noticed its pretty hard to get a low temp like 250 on it. Any tips? Ive got my vents dang near closed, and i'm still too hot. It held 350 for 2 hours no problem, but coming down to 250 is taking forever. Thanks man, great video.
I’d start limiting the fan speed in the app. I think I have mine maxed at 40%. Next I’d try the damper on the fan itself. My top vent is about 1/3 between the 1st and 2nd white stripe.
Can you adjust the temperature from your phone when you’re not connected to your home WiFi? If I were to leave the house and want to adjust the temperature while away from home?
This review is exactly what i was looking for. I wanted to see how to mount the fan as well as the info on the vent positioning. This should honestly be a video that Fireboard does for their site. So informational! The tips on the probe positioning were really helpful as well

Best review I have seen so far for the Fireboard 2 drive, great work 👍🏻
awesome video! now I know witch what I'm buying ! I don't know how no one hasn't picked you up as a speaker for there BBQ companies !
very impressed with this unit more then any other unit out there !
Thank you

These reviews are always educational and spot on. Thanks for putting in all the effort!!
I have been a digi-q and cyber-q user for a long time. Recently, I've been looking at upgrading to an easier-to-use wifi/bluetooth connection. This was very helpful! Thanks!
I allways come back to this video - Thanks for sharing all your info!!
The quality of your video review is great - video clarity, b-roll and editing....all great.
Thanks for the kid words!
Thanks for the review. I have been looking into this device myself. My favorite aspect of this is its battery powered.
Same for me!
I just purchased this unit mainly to come up to temp as fast as possible for weeknight chicken cooks on my uds thank you for sharing about the 50% fan speed

Also don’t forget to play with limiting the fan speed. I never let my fan get above 40%. YMMV but definitely experiment with it.
And thank you for the kind words!
Using mine now for the first time I attached the ambient probe onto the Kamado Jo temp seems to be working fine

Just ordered a Joe classic and definitely looking at the temp controllers. Thanks for the review!

The versatility is nice, being able to use the tracker on different cookers is smart.
Thanks for doing this, I have my Big Joe III on order and was looking at different temp controllers and the FireBoard 2 was on the list. Been watching you for a few months now, great to have someone from the area doing this type of content, we are from River Ridge.
Did the adapter fit your big jo 3 or did you have to bend to make it fit
Fan speed control capability, baffle and battery operated. I’m conviced, will buy it. Excellent review. Thanks!
Thanks for this review, Fireboard 2 looks way ahead of the competition. I thought I'd have to wait for an iKammand or Billows update and rerelease for temp control on my Kamado Joe. Not anymore!
Thanks for the insight, I’m a firm believer in buy right, buy once .
Great review! Very thorough. I’ve been looking at temp controllers for a while and found this very helpful!
I second the comments about the detail, thanks for this! I was super curious about how startup would go. This thing looks so cool!
Been considering buying this. Hands down this is the best review on youtube. Shame I’m in the UK so don’t qualify for giveaway. Never mind thanks for the review 👍
Thank you for the super thorough review. Got me off the fence and into a fireboard 2 drive.
Thanks!
This review tipped the scales for me buying the FB2.
This is how you do a review, very informative. Been looking for something to replace the dreaded ikamand 2 and this seems to be the way.
Have you considered swapping the controller on your Treager for a Rec Tec controller? I made the swap recently and it hold temp so much better.
I’ve been slowly researching that but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I will soon. I’ve heard Traeger’s new controller is doing well. I’ll need to research both
@@BreakItYourself I look forward to the results of your research
Looks like I need to change controllers as the one I have is difficult to connect to my phone. The worst part is I paid over $300.00 for it. My son who is great with phones and computers had a hard time connecting it. Excellent review.
Great straight forward review that covered quite of bit of information in easy to understand instructions!
I’ve followed you about the KJ ikommand. I’ve been interested when I get back from deployment am getting a KJ. I may now have to consider this fire board. I think the battery power sold me but certainly looking for more reviews from you and others.
Good find on the temp probe location. That is very helpful and makes perfect sense.
I’m considering switching to this in place of the ikamand- thank you for the review!

I enjoyed this video a lot. Very detailed. I'm definitely interested in getting the Fireboard 2. Thanks a ton!
Great review! I just bought a Big Joe and have been researching controllers.
In the market, your superb review was exactly what I needed. Thank you!
Super review. Had been holding off on getting the original. Looks like they nailed it with the 2.
Is it worth it for a Kamado Joe Jr considering it's almost as expensive as the Kamado itself?
Great video! I'd love to see one of you sharing all your learnings and settings for hitting temps on the Kamado joe! Share some more details on different settings, how you build your fire! for different cooks!
Great video I just got a new kamado joe and this thermometer is what I’ve been looking for!
Perfect!
looks nice alerts and graphing would be a nice feature, is it cloud or network based wifi?
WOW! what a great review. Love your detail. If you want a great review on the Fireboard and a comparison with the iKamand you need to watch this.
Great video, your information was great as you hit on my areas with clear observations. Looks like a very well made and useful product.
I have been looking at this for a while, thanks for your review.
Here for the “How often does it really rain in Louisiana?” Comments.
Answer: a lot!
everyday from May to September haha and every other day all the other months
I’ve never been as impressed by how thorough someone is about a review. 🫡 Thank-You very much for your time & effort.
Great review! I've been putting some serious thought into the FireBoard 2. It really seems like the best way to go! Thanks for the insight!!
Just found your channel while researching Kamado grills. Great work and thanks for the tips!
Great review. I feel like this is the right controller for me!
Super thorough video. I ordered one for my joe 2 classic because of this vid. Do you find the comedically protruding dive fan gets in your way?
Thanks for the kind words. It hasn’t gotten in my way at all and I’ve never even thought about it. Could just be the way that I interact with the grill but no issues so far.
Enjoyed the review , I've been wanting a temp controller for a long time for my kamado Joe. Been looking at the digiq brand some but I like this set up too! Enjoy your channel, keep up the good work!

Great review. Probably the best one I have seen.
Hi , I have fireboard 1 and it’s doing great so far . I’ll like to try this new version on My DSS 48 smoker . Thanks for the details my friend
Great video, I wonder how this would work on a MB gravity smoker
Great concise video and helpful information regarding prob placement!
Looks like a solid temp controller. I have a Kamado Joe Big Joe 2. Been using Meater Plus for over a year now. I’m looking forward to purchasing this. I never could keep the ikam and to work right
Chris needs this
Thank you for the review. Actually helped me choose this over the Meater. Just got my first Smoker so I’ve been trying to find the best things to make my cooks successfully. Hopefully I can win one!!! Haha
I am going to have to look more into this!!! Great video thank you for the information!!!

That temp controller is just what I am looking for.
For my new Kamado Joe Classic 2
Hey, thank you for the video. Do you know if the fan set up works on the Weber Smokey Mountain? I purchased the Fireboard 2 Drive based on this great video, now I wonder if I can connect the fan to my WSM? Thanks so much.
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. Want to buy one
I was looking for a solid review. Thank you!
Great Review needed more info on controllers and this helps
This could be a dumb question, but is it best to go by the pit temp/ probe..... or the dome temp?
Great video! My old BGE controller died and had zero features. I got the FireBoard on a whim, looks like it was a great buy. We just wrapped up a brisket and and I owe the success to the FireBoard.
Having problems getting the probe temp and the temp gauge on my egg to match up , they’re like 20 degrees apart
Thanks for the unbiased review.
So is the only additional feature of the drive over the regular FireBoard 2 that it will power the fan as well?
Great vid! I needed to hear all of this. Count me in!
Love your channel. I found you during lock down. We love Disney also. And we live just down the road in Prairieville, LA.
Nice review I do like Fire board they do make excellent products.
Thats a sexy lil temp controller but so expensive in uk
Nice review. I’ve been considering one as my next purchase.
Great overview and initial review!

I have a pit boss ceramic grill. Would love to be able to use this to cook a brisket at the Temps I would like to use
You can kiss those sweet sweet Kamado Joe shillings goodbye after this 😂
Now I'll have to create a patreon to survive
Just bought a kamado big joe! Going to have to try out this thermometer, thanks!
Is the fan proprietory or can my pit viper 10cf fan from my old digiq 2 ?
Thanks! been watching a few videos of yours. Keep it up.
Can you adjust the temperature from your phone when you’re not connected to your home WiFi? If I were to leave the house and want to adjust the temperature while away from home?
Great review. Will look into this controller.
did you have to place the ambient sensor probe on a different place on the Joe Jr. ?
Excellent review. And impressive camera work.
Great video/review. Good to see you can hook it to the Joe jr as well!
Great review. I am really interested in this brand now.
Any opinion on the fireboard vs the flame boss 500?
Good job on on temp control recommendations.
This fireboard review was excellent...keep it up.
Ill take it! Ill be using it on my weber performer
