I believe she behaves this way because she is still grappling with feeling undesirable in our society. She seems to prefer men because she wants to be chosen by a Black man. I think her behavior is rooted in deeply ingrained childhood traumas stemming from her father, brother, and being sexually abused by her uncle, as well as her abusive marriage. Thank you! The show should've been called 'Iyanla Ruin my Life.' Remember how she treated Debbie Thompson? The woman was clearly struggling with addiction and mental health issues making her life a living hell and Iyanla was so awful to her. That mammymeisha had the nerve to tell Eboni K Williams (a millionaire!) to date a bus driver. And you're right about a certain generation. Kelly Price has entered the chat of screaming about God for another abuser's heinous actions. 😒
I'm sooooooo glad someone is finally addressing this. She has an overflowing amount of grace for men, especially Black men, but disdain and vitriol for Black women.
I am so glad someone is calling this woman out. She always says some of the most outlandish stuff about dating I'd EVER heard, she constantly seems to play a mammy, she puts down black women ALL THE TIME, while claiming to help them heal... I immediately stopped listening to anything she said or paying attention to anything she does YEARS ago. And it doesn't help she's part of the "Respectability Politics Crew" along with Oprah and Tyler and all them. Shoot, look at how those two run their sets, particularly the Color Purple remake, and then tried to quiet Taraji about it. Major side eye. They coddle certain folks (mostly disgraced men and white folks) WAY too much, and we as a community need to stop that. We need to stop encouraging it. Especially because you NEVER see them give this same grace to black women. I've literally never seen it. Shoot, Tyler's entire movie collection is black women being humbled in some way... that's not a good thing. I won't make this about him, but it's all getting old. I recently heard this saying, "We should respect our elders, but a lot of our elders don't even respect themselves, so be careful who you let shape your mind and heart" and man... it was a word. How can we rid our community of men like this, but we turn around and so many black women, especially, are ready to go to war for them for us all to "forgive" him. This man didn't even seem to mess with black women... UNTIL he got caught abusing a white woman. Forget him, lol.
Bw with sense need to walk away from "communitay " and find peace and REAL community with like-minded people. The BC will always uphold Bm over YOU. Accept this...then move on. Burn the cape. Put yourself FIRST❤
Tyler Perry's films were always a tell but when he said BW should be happy with a loser who can barely pay the light bill that was the obvious nail in the coffin. He really hates black women.
I agree with you Justin!!! I stopped watching Iyanla awhile ago due to her being so coddling to problematic BM! She never had the same grace for my BW and it is very disturbing and disgusting. She is from the generation that loves to coddle and worship problematic BM. My grandmother on my father’s side (may she RIP) was the exact same way. Iyanla, Vivica Fox, Taraji P. , and quite a few other older BW love to coddle problematic BM. Hollywood Unlocked contacted her because they know she is the Queen PickMe. I do not believe they are good friends because Jonathan Majors don’t really deal with BW. What impact has Jonathan done but be an actor???
My grandma was like that and she made my dad and uncle narcissists. All because she couldn’t make her husband act right. She did whatever to keep them around. Weak sauce!
What in the world? That video of them was cringy. I'm glad you're calling her out for her double standards. Watch once Jonathan gets on his feet again he'll be right back with a ww.
I swear, this is something I've noticed with certain types of black men, and some black women, too. But they don't be caring about us, at all, UNTIL they get into trouble, then they're calling on the community to help them, and it's usually aimed at black women, at that. Once they get out of that trouble, though, they go right back to crapping on us with the quickness. Megan is really Good out here being his "Coretta" until he's out of trouble, lol. Meanwhile, all this nonsense, people should have been done with him. I don't care if it was a white woman he abused or if he "saw the light" and got a black woman, he's an abuser, plain and simple.
No one is listing to sad mammy Playlist anymore. These ninjas are grown men who can deal with their consequences without " holdin a. Blk man down" bullshit

@@Thatdudekay2 This ain’t about crying and expressing emotions it’s about ACCOUNTABILITY! Something BM are clearly allergic to and shielded from by way of the mammy!
Iyanla is tied to Oprah soooo...I know Oprah would never but she is an elder pick me so I'm not surprised. The last I heard from her was telling black women to date bus drivers -- I'm pretty sure Millennials and Gen Z completely ignore her existence. As an aside, I can't look at Johnathon Majors without thinking of Katt Williams 😆😆😆

I know you feel uncomfortable saying it because you want to respect bw and you understand all of the systems and nuances that keep us docile, complacent, and even complicit, but I'll say it for you as a bw who has observed and grown up witnessing the conditioning. I grew up in a christian home where "Nana" has told me if my husband wants s3x, then I have to do it. I have grown up in a community where the bw in the community are so deprived of adequate love, treatment, and care from bm that they are willing to do anything to get them to see that we are on their side and willing to fight and therefore worthy of reciprocation. I've watched my sister perpetuate the cycle and contribute. It's no secret that in this community some mothers will even compete with their own daughters, offer them up to strange men, and treat their sons like kings, the list goes on. I'm not saying patriarchy, culture, and religion are soley at fault, or that bw are blameless, or that other groups women don't experience placating to the s3x that was, up until only a few decades ago (not even a century), were the dominate source of their protection and survival in one way or another. But I am saying bw are bl33ding out and no matter who caused it, it is up to us to heal ourselves. When we are on, we are the best and so unstoppable. So I'm off my soapbox now. take it easy on me yall. thank you for coming to my tedtalk.
Iyanla needs to have a seat.. Dorothy Dandrige was a dancer for men and she hung out with Marilyn Monhoe.. I thought the whole point was for black ppl to be free to do what they want.. she’s annoying
"Elder with a spoon" 💯 FINALLY someone said something about Iyanla!! I was outdone when she told Eboni to date a bus driver! It was just SICKENING to watch the CREEPY exchange between Iyanla and Johnathan Majors😢
Her book Peace from Broken Pieces really changed me. I will always give her props for that. But when you are right, you are right. I cringed a lot when listening to clips of her lately. I thought it was just me…..
I knew she was full of it after seeing the episode she had with a couple of black men talking about why they don’t date black women. Would’ve been way different if the men were actually talking about things like cultural differences or wtv, but they were literally just straight up listing every stereotype about black women in the book and she was agreeing with them….It was weird
If black women don't feel sorry for black men, who will. There are times when black women have to hold up the black community. I don't think he deserved an award, but he deserves sympathy. In the end, it's Meghan's problem.
I truly can’t stand our “community” sometimes. It was a black woman judge who told my ex she “respects” him for “at least telling the truth because a lot of men come in here and lie” when the ONLY reason my ex even budged to tell the truth was because of how much evidence and witness I had & probably his lawyer telling him it would be in his best interest to not try to say he’s not guilty knowing damn well he is!!!! I’m so sick of the coddling. I had people telling me I was trying to take a black man down WHEN HE WAS TAKING ME DOWN AND THATS THE REASON WE WERE IN COURT IN THE FIRST PLACE 😭 AINT I BLACK TOO WHERE’S MY PROTECTION
I don’t know what’s going on. But, I feel like if Johnathan Majors wasn’t talented and desirable to black women, he absolutely would NOT be getting this much grace. I’m not giving him any. And it is extremely weird to me how vocal Jill Scott and Iyanla have been caping for abusive men. Are we in the Twilight Zone because what the fuck????

But Kelly Price is not in Iyanla's generation. So, IMO, it's not about the generation. It's about the person and their internalized racism and sexism.
@@sereneamani1713 Then I guess it's an older generation thing because whew!
The Queen Pickmeisha!! Every time I think she can't climb any higher up Mammy Mountain, Sis def proves me wrong 🙄🙄
Not mammy mountain LMAO 😂😂😂
I think Sharazad Ali got her beat, but Iyanla is definitely high on the tier list
High up on Mammy Mountain. High!!!!
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
I'm sooooooo glad someone is finally addressing this. She has an overflowing amount of grace for men, especially Black men, but disdain and vitriol for Black women.
When he said Majors must’ve zelled Jason Lee, I lost it. 😩😮💨😭😂
Iyanla STAY twirling her cape in a dusty twilight zone phone booth. The check must have cleared before she got on the stage.
😂😂😂
The visual of this 😂😂
😂😅
Weak sauce!
When I tell you the disappointment, in her hurts. Could it be clout-chasing ?
Crying over an award from Jason Lee is crazy work
I stopped watching her show years ago, and I questioned some of her tactics back then.
Yes from the heal yourself days don’t see who’s she’s helped besides her bank account
So did I. And I'm slightly older than she is.
I literally was just saying how she called Neffe a guttersnipe but wont even let men she’d a tear on camera to “protect their dignity” 🙄
What in the world? That video of them was cringy. I'm glad you're calling her out for her double standards. Watch once Jonathan gets on his feet again he'll be right back with a ww.
and that’ll be the day when the comments revert back to hating him lol.
the black community (not me chile 😂) is confused and they switch up every day.
It’s only a matter of time at this point! ⏳
I have been saying this and Megan will be in the Wind 😅
@@yendaaaaexactly
Iylana is the ultimate pickme. She’s has made a career off of struggle love. She is not “role model “ for black women.

You are EXACTLY correct, and Iyanla has PLENTY COMPANY, just garbage, no support for black women, but treat the men like ROYALTY….get out of here with that, he is USING her👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾😟😟😟
Unfortunately my mom is in that generation of woman that protects “her” abusers/ men in general 🤦🏿♀️.. glad I shook loose of that mammy mess..
She has definitely routinely displayed a serious blind spot for Black men. It’s exasperating.
It's SO EXHAUSTING!!! Enough. I'm dropping folks from my life. No more
This was such an insane thing to witness
The entire “what landline phone are yall on with God” bit had me HOLLERINGGGG!!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was Funny!!!

And this is why BM will forever be the B’s of society!
I thought y’all wanted black men to cry and express their emotions?

I'm of the generation you speak of and I agree with you. Some aunties are delusional
I definitely see Iyanla upholding the patriarchy.
Not enough time has passed for him to have done any healing or atonement ma'am
Iyanla is tied to Oprah soooo...I know Oprah would never but she is an elder pick me so I'm not surprised. The last I heard from her was telling black women to date bus drivers -- I'm pretty sure Millennials and Gen Z completely ignore her existence. As an aside, I can't look at Johnathon Majors without thinking of Katt Williams 😆😆😆
Elder pick me is sending me!!!! 😂😂😂
This. All that respectability crew is a mess.
Every time someone in the black community does something y'all blame Oprah's name. It's weird.
Tyler Perry makes a bad movie. It's all Oprah's fault. Gayle King does an interview. It's Oprah. Diddy gets arrested.... folks claim Oprah knew. 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
❤
Iyanla needs to have a seat.. Dorothy Dandrige was a dancer for men and she hung out with Marilyn Monhoe.. I thought the whole point was for black ppl to be free to do what they want.. she’s annoying
Yeah, that was very strange.
"Elder with a spoon" 💯 FINALLY someone said something about Iyanla!! I was outdone when she told Eboni to date a bus driver! It was just SICKENING to watch the CREEPY exchange between Iyanla and Johnathan Majors😢
FINALLY someone said it 😩😩😩
Her book Peace from Broken Pieces really changed me.
I will always give her props for that.
But when you are right, you are right.
I cringed a lot when listening to clips of her lately. I thought it was just me…..
I thought it was just me too. She has been rubbing me the wrong way for a while.
@@cynthiahoward2285 You took the words out of my mouth. And I'm older than Iyanla.
Same.
You are absolutely right. I lost respect for her.
I really dislike iyanlas speech omg...
I knew she was full of it after seeing the episode she had with a couple of black men talking about why they don’t date black women. Would’ve been way different if the men were actually talking about things like cultural differences or wtv, but they were literally just straight up listing every stereotype about black women in the book and she was agreeing with them….It was weird
if his mama aint doing it-why is she????
☝🏽
She was hating on Ebony for having standards
I am upset with her over this I didn’t know she was like that but then again I stopped watching her show long ago.
I got off the exit ramp so fast of the video i was watching to get here!
If black women don't feel sorry for black men, who will. There are times when black women have to hold up the black community. I don't think he deserved an award, but he deserves sympathy. In the end, it's Meghan's problem.
I would feel like I was in The Twilight Zone being in the same room with Jonathan Majors, Tiffany Haddish and Jason Lee! Leave immediately!!!
I agree with your commentary 1000%!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

“We raise our daughters and coddle our sons.”
The way she talked to Nefateria was despicable. She constantly coddles these men.
I’ve read a few of her books. She’s had horrible relationships with men and strained relationship with her children.
Oh.. An your hair is definitely giving.. That style look so good on you.. ❤❤ Love this
Yes I love this look on him
Her relationship with her daughter was very problematic but look how she let her husband make a fool out of her.
Loving the hairstyle, love your content always ! ❤
I love that you consistently clock her internalized misogyny
I don’t know what’s going on. But, I feel like if Johnathan Majors wasn’t talented and desirable to black women, he absolutely would NOT be getting this much grace. I’m not giving him any. And it is extremely weird to me how vocal Jill Scott and Iyanla have been caping for abusive men. Are we in the Twilight Zone because what the fuck????
And wasn’t Iyanla in a toxic marriage? It baffles me how regardless of that she’s ready to go to war for these types of men 🤨
It’s definitely giving Twilight Zone… I was not here for what Iyanla did there.
I find it weird when people who clearly have a dark spirit use the Bible to make them look good.
You nailed it with your opening statement! Iyanla was always harder on women than she was on men. She never held them accountable for poor behavior.
From my understand she isn’t even a licensed therapist
Baby the difference in treatment between Neffe vs Evelyn Nozada told me everything I needed to know 😅
