    ❗ ☝❗ CORRECTION ❗👇❗
    At the time 5:50 I'm talking about the swingweight I measured. The number is wrong (I looked at the wrong column in my SW sheet) - it's from the version Blade 100 V9. For this Blade 98 16x19 V9 I measured 💪326 SW, which goes perfectly with the specs. Sorry for my mistake! 🖐

    I resisted getting a blade for years because it’s just too mainstream for me. Now I have two blade 98 v9’s because it was just so fun and instructive to play with. Hitting the sweet spot makes me happy

    • @CzechTennisGuy
      @CzechTennisGuy  11 месяцев назад

      Exactly that's why I'm not a big fan of Wilson rackets in general. They are everywhere. But in case like this, when the racket is so good, it's a joy to hit with the best one even if it is mainstream.

      I m about to be the same.. I ve been using the pro staff the past 6 months. Love everything except for the serve. It's so unforgiving on the serve. Hoping this blade is good on serve and still feels good on grounds strokes.

    • @CzechTennisGuy
      @CzechTennisGuy  11 месяцев назад

      @@tomk5238 The Blade 18x20 is excellent on serve. The 16x19 version is not that good, it's ok. But it's probably the only area where the Blade 16x19 struggles a little bit let's say.

    • @tomk5238
      @tomk5238 11 месяцев назад

      @@CzechTennisGuy why is 18x20 better? In my experience I m not good enough for a 18x20.
      The main reason I want to change from pro staff is that I have found every other racquet I can hit 100mph. With the pro staff I m 10-15mph less. Everything else I like. So I m looking for something that has the same ground stroke but just easier to hit power and sweet spot on the serve.

    I have to agree, flat out fantastic racquet. My first hit I had mixed feelings because I didn’t have my normal strings in there but once I cut those out and put my normal setup on the demo I fell in love. No complaints tbh. Best Blade right up there with V5. It is ripe for customization if that’s what you’re into but stock it is amazing/solid as well. 5.5+ level. The V8 was very good but I thought it was a little too flexy at times. This one gave not a stiffer feel but crisper. Highly recommend people give it a shot. I’m stuck between this and the Blade Pro. The V9 Blade is the most complete racquet out there right now and I’ve tried them all.

  • @nightowldickson
    @nightowldickson 11 месяцев назад +2

    Only thing that puts me off getting this is the Wilson quality control - the swing weight, balance varies a lot from frame to frame. To get a racquet probably need to get the shop to check the spec first and match if getting more than one.
    I sometimes play with a Wilson prostaff K factor 90 that's 385g as well, rallies are ok but it's tough playing sets with it given how heavy it is. Sometimes I feel a lighter racquet with head light balance would be better as I could get more racquet head speed instead of the plow.

    Thank you - your videos are brilliant and super informative. I'm interested to understand how you would compare the blades (18x20 + 16x19)to the prostaff 97 v14. I m demoing both the Blade v9 18x20 and the Prostaff at the moment and strangely feel that the blade feels more classic despite specs. I m moving from a prestige flexpoint mp 18x20 so that might be why? The Pro Staff feels like it is doing more to the ball vs what you are doing to the ball. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

    • @CzechTennisGuy
      @CzechTennisGuy  11 месяцев назад +1

      My personal observation is that you have to let go the Pro Staff rackets to do the job instead of the Blades, where you kind of play more with the racket. So if you don't have the great fluid technique for the PS, just get the Blade where you can use more power of your arm and stay in touch with the frame. I hope you get this idea.

      The magnets are there just as a weight - instead of lead tape. Each of the magnets is 10g so imagine how many lead tapes wou would have to put on the frame (throat section) to gain 20g of weight in total. Se he took magnets instead. And magicaly this works well.

    How is it for flat hitting compared to the speed mp? Is the 18x20 more difficult to use (less manoeuvrable) than a speed pro 2022, I really liked the 2022 speed pro but it was too slow for my game.

    • @CzechTennisGuy
      @CzechTennisGuy  10 месяцев назад

      The Blade 98 18x20 feels faster thanks to the 20.6 mm beam. But it's a beefy racket so it takes some effort to get the racket moving. But I think in the SW point of view the Blade 98 18x20 is very similar to Head Speed Pro so if you were able to play with the Speed Pro, you will master the Blade, too.

    I have been using the Luxilon Alu Power 1.25 in grey, according to one of your reviews do you think the lime colour plays better with the Wilson Blade 98? I notice that this V9 version lifts the ball a lot and has a lot of flight, I think I liked the V 77 version better, which was very stable and had a lower launch angle, what do you think of this? Thank you very much for your great help to Tennis, my friend!!!!

    • @CzechTennisGuy
      @CzechTennisGuy  3 месяца назад

      I'm the same opinion. Since the version 7, which was one of the most demanding Blades out there, the V8 and V9 have bigger sweetspot, bigger spin potential and they produce more free power. And that's why the ball sometimes fly too much, too high, without control. I think with the next Blade V10, they will have to come little bit back to more control, more feel for the flatter shots etc.
      Regarding the string - some say that the colour has a big impact on how the string plays. But I didn't observe that because I didn't test strings with different colours. So it's up to you to try them. Thank you for your support as always 🙌

      So the Blade V9 16x19 is in my opinion the best 98 on the market in 2024. Boom Pro 16x19 is for more fun and casula game. Blade is definitely more competitive and delicate in every aspect. Pro Staff 97 is more precise, but it lacks the spin potential and free power of the Blade. The Pure Aero 98 is more powerful and less feel oriented. Great feel, great touch, superb manooovrlbity, big sweetspot, impressive top spin. It has all 99% of intermediate and advanced players need in todays modern game. Go for it. Now, for this old 4.0 singles player, who needs racquet help on serve, etc. Should I go for the V9 16x19, or wait for the 100 Blade? Also, how does the V9 16x19 Blade match up with the Ezone 98? All the best, and have a great weekend! Ciao, John

      Hey John! Great to see you and hear from you. Yes. Blades V8 were great, I really enjoyed them, too. But they were somehow specific in the flex, which was too low for my taste and the racket felt like a chewing gum in some situations. This V9 is complete - it's not stiff, it's just stable from the buttcap to the tip of the head. It reminds me the Percept, but it has more power and more spin potential. The feel is outstanding. I think the Ezone 98 is less control oriented with less precision and less spin potential. This 20,6 mm beam goes like a knife through a butter. It's fast, responsive, has great power and spin potential and it's super friendly to use. At least this is the one worth demoing at all costs. And then you will see for yourself. Enjoy the weekend John and let your tennis racket dream come true!

      Blade v8 is not a blade to carry the blade heritage. V9 is back to its roots. V8 had inconsistent stringbed that could launch the ball and it couldn’t produce a heavy ball even after lead. You mention that you find the new Blade 98 16x19 overall better than the Percept 97. Is it because of the extra free power or other major differences? • @CzechTennisGuy
      @CzechTennisGuy  11 месяцев назад +2

      It's definitely the free power and also the spin potential and bigger sweetspot. You need to get used to the Percept 97 and that's what most people don't like to do - they want to buy a tennis racket that works for them right from the start. And the Blade is that racket. The Percept is specific with the Isometric headshape and a quite low powered frame. I would say you have to be a better player to get the most of the Percept 97.
      The ALU Power can definitely be a big part of the overall success of this racket. Strings are 50% of the performance of a tennis racket. But I would not just "blaim" the strings. I tested the Percept with Yonex PolyTour REV recommended string so both of the rackets were played with the best possible setup recommended by the manufacturer.

      Ahoj, co se týče kontroly a přesnosti, tak v tom je jednoznačně lepší verze 98 16x19. Od verze 100 to zase více letí zadarmo, člověk se tolik nenadře a má výraznější spinový potenciál (široká hlava rakety). Stovková verze má taky mnohem větší sweetspot a odpouští nečisté zásahy. Je to hodně pohodová raketa, přitom dost výkonná na to, aby uspokojila i náročnější tenisty. Stabilní a komfortní jsou obě verze podobně. Zásadní je tedy švihová hmotnost - u verze 100 jsem naměřil jen 313 a u verze 98 16x19 326. To už je výrazný skok nahoru. Záleží tedy jak moc dobře hraješ a jakou máš celkovou zkušenost s tenisem. Pro slušné turnajové a vynikající klubové hráče co mají tenis jako hlavní sport a mají chuť se pořád zlepšovat bude lepší verze 98. Pro nadšené amatéry, co nejezdí po turnajích a chodí si zahrát dvakrát týdně bude bohatě stačit verze 100. Ono takhle rozhodovat naslepo je hrozně těžký. Musel bych vidět jak hraješ. Za mě tedy bohatě bude stačit verze 100 naprosté většině tenistů. Někdo možná ocení ještě lehčí model 100L nebo 100UL. Záleží na výkonnosti.

    This V9 would have to be a gargantuan step forward over the V7 and V8, both of which were two of most unpleasant racquets I've ever had the misfortune to play with; they're dead like a plank of wood.
    V9 is much nicer looking though.

      The V9 feels more alive. It's because it's overall stiffer/stable and it has generates more free power. The racket is more alive.

      Oh man, I wish I had a chance to play with Blade Pro one day. Not sure how to get it here. Maybe I will ask directly Wilson representative.

      @@CzechTennisGuy I have one v7 pro 16x19 G2 , what Grip size you play with?

    • @CzechTennisGuy
      @CzechTennisGuy  11 месяцев назад

      @@bushmenaa Now I play with grip size 3 + 1 overgrip 0.4 mm. But I will switch 1 size down in the future, because I want more feel. And I will start using once again overgrip 0,5-0,6 mm to compensate the smaller grip size.

      For me, this Emerald Green looks better with a tiny red Wilson logo on 1 side that I can always use it to hold my racket also when I swing I can see it passes my eyes, which would improve my forehand to hit sweetpot more often.

      At that time I wasn't interested in switching to that brand. But with the RF 01 I found something unique and special.
