When will you have data ready on wilson balde v9 in TWU? Thanks

I notice the V8 18x20 can feel a little jarring on off centered shots. My stringer also strung it a little higher than I asked. I use cyclone 18g yellow, when I had it restrung, I lowered the tension to 50 mains, 48 crosses. Felt better, but not totally comfortable.
I also have the V9 16x19, extremely comfortable, and a great blend of power and control. The 18x20 definitely offers better control and precision, but noticeably less power.
With the slightly higher swingweight of the V9 18x20 compared to the V8, is there a little more power/plough through on offer from the V9? The flex is still 60, but does it feel any stiffer than the previous model, or a little more comfortable, or just about the same?

Ulrikke Eikeri is the player Troy mention about The United Cup, with Wilson Ultra and 4g string at 88 lb

Yep - she was stringing crazy high, with a pre-stretch in the desert! Stay tuned, we have a pod or 2 where she comes up with her requests from the stringers at BNP! :)

Haha, nice to see you guys!!
Troy you mentioned that compared to the v8...
the Blade v9 has a bit stiffer hoop in the higher parts of 9 and 3...
Is the throat a bit more flexible then to compensate?

I loved my 18x20 v9 demo and ordered 3 and had them matched by TW. They sent me 3 in the 10.9-10.95 oz range even though spec is 10.8 and I haven't been able to dial in on these for some reason. Strangely I like one stick more than the others even though the specs are pretty tight and close. Had a hard time finding a string to match (using diadem impulse 17 right now) and as a blade user since the KBlade these seem 'off'. The stringbed stability is inconsistent which always has been a strength of these racquets. (Impulse 16 is more uniform with less feel). Not sure but maybe it's time for me to move on. (Most of my strokes, BH, slice, serve, volleys can groove for a while but these sticks are not becoming automatic like previous gens, and FH is really sensitive to contact point)

The Blade V9 100 is getting a lot of love from European and Australian
play-testers. Are you guys going to review this racquet? And when will the Blade V9 100 become available? Ciao, John

Hey guys, just a quick question - inspite of being a very popular racket at college n club level, why is the pure strike not seen that much on the top tour? Will pure strike vs change that?
    N u guys rock!
    Cheers,

Maybe because Babolat are not offering contracts to those players but it’s weird…

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  5 месяцев назад +1

Yeah, could be a number of reasons for this. Could be how easy the access is to the Blade for some of these college players and the deals they have with the college or clubs that they developed in as juniors. Also, the history isn't quite as long with the Strike, 2014 versus the Blade which goes back around 2008 and has had pretty deep representation on the tours compared to that of the Strike. I do recall some college players in California who were Strike users, from USC there have been Stafan Dostanic (ATP#580), Daniel Cukierman (ATP High#182), Danielle Lao (WTA HIgh#152), UCLA player Austin Rapp (ATP High #672), and Gonzaga player Sophia Whittle (WTA High#376). Just some of the players I know of who either played college in CA or are from CA, but yes the Wilson Blade does seem to be much more prevalent for college players. Troy, TW

Maybe another thing to think about, just a thought I had, is that the Blade has also been on average a bit softer or more flexible over the years throughout the generations, and that might be something college players like about it. You can string them up with just about any stiff poly and the result will still be fairly comfortable on the arms, which based on how many hours these players train and put in on the court, it could help the arm health in the long run. Not to say all of these players know that when they go for a racquet, but a little more comfort and feel could be the attraction to these Blades. Troy, TW

Looking back at the archives, I found the first Blade review that we posted back in March of 2008, The KBlade 98 and KBlade Tour. www.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/racquet_reviews/kbld98review.html. Also this was the first racquet review I was a part of here at TW, haha takes me back...Troy, TW

@@tenniswarehouseis there a reason we see so many 16x19 blades in college but barely ever any on tour? Was counting the strings on the Stamford tennis page and noticed most of them used 16x19 patterns on their blades
