Agree with everything besides casting further that's just bs. On a spinning reel when you cast the line just flies off the reel without any friction, when casting you do a full swing having the rod pointed behind you and then swinging meanwhile on a baitcast you literally have a break which prevents the line from
unwinding at full speed and also with the baitcast you can't put the rod all the way behind you and then do a full swing, instead you use the power of the rod bending by quickly swinging the rod barely behind where your head is and then you send it forward, if you did a full swing with a baitcast like you'd do on a spinning reel you'd get a bird nest. No friction, no break and a full swing will give more power to the cast than having friction a break that slows the throw and not even a half swing compared to a spinning reel. If you have a spinning setup and a baitcast setup and use the same lure on both you'll always cast further with the spinning reel, even if you were the best in the world at baitcast you'd never be able to put more energy to the throw than a guy that just got his fishing license and learned how to cast with a spinning reel 5 minutes ago. That's just the way it is.

False. Just proved it today. Same line, same lure. Baitcaster sent it a mile with ease, spinning rod I gotta heave it to get even close and never got there. Was also my first day ever using my new baitcaster. It's possible with a smaller line on the spinning reel, my daughter's spinning reel runs 8lb and it does cast Hella far, but it's a small whippy rod and the 8lb is obviously less strong than the 12lb I use on my rod. I still have more I cam get out of the baitcaster, brake was on 4 and spool was on the more tense side of things. Maybe it's because I'm still using the zebco reel that was on the rod I got initially amd it's pretty damn beat up but man the baitcaster was butter casting

@@anthonysantos3629 If you can't cast a spinning rod further than baitcast then you're casting it wrong. No resistance combined with a longer rod will always cast further than having some resistence from the break and having a shorter rod. Also with a spinning rod you can full swing while casting meanwhile with baitcast if you did a full swing the spool would start rotating to fast you would just get a really bad bird nest. If you actually know how to cast with a spinning reel you'll always cast further.

@xtherealest rods are both 7' . Both medium action. I understand the concept you're explaining amd ot makes sense, it just didn't play out like that at all. And as I said I can my daughter's pole a country mile, I know how to cast. My spinning rod just doesn't do it, the baitcaster was just a flick and it was sending relatively light crankbaits amd weighted texas rigs beyond anywhere I've ever reached at my usual spots at the lake. I will be testing this theory more now after what you've said though for sure. Thanks man!🤙🏼

@@anthonysantos3629 I mean whatever works for you, if you're more comfortable using the baitcaster and it casts further than your spinning rod then use the baitcaster. I don't know what spinning rod you using but I'd obviously use the baitcaster too if it would cast further. The length of the rod does a lot. 7' spinning rod is pretty short I'd say. I use an 8' spinning rod and it can cast solid distances, the baitcast rods are usually shorter than spinning rods. Baitcast rods are usually at 7' and spinning rods at 8 or 9 ft but not gonna lie sometimes it would be pretty nice to have a shorter rod, it all depends on where you fish but that longer rod with a spinning reel is gonna cast further for sure. Happy new year and good luck with fishing brother

I don't have any trouble throwing big lures with my spinning reel. And I use braid so I don't need a reel that handles thicker line. I do really like the reel position though. Casting with your thumb is more convenient than the bail mechanism on a spinning reel. I'll try one if I ever get a chance but I'm not interested enough to buy one yet.

Spinning reals will always cast further with the same lure and line applications, however for most people who are more experienced with a baitcaster will say that baitcaster have more precision and control but that’s just comfortability with the pole I have accurately thrown baits with both but I will say distance control is easier with baitcaster but not accuracy in my experience. To make a point my spinning set ups do jot back lash or birdsnest and I don’t lose 100s in line and lures. I think the only plus to baitcaster is comfortability while fishing and reeling and strength while fighting through thick vegetation. spinner Excels in distance and finnesse.

Whoever says baitcasters cast further are coping because their masculinity is threatened. Ever world record for every weight category except fly fishing categories are held by a spinning reel.

I agree with fresh water but saltwater I believe spinning is better because of huge wind differences. You're telling me they cast further I disagree, prove it to me don't tell me!

I agree with precision and accuracy, but as a saltwater fisherman where casting in the open ocean precision is less important, baitcasters do not have a big advantage. With larger reels and thinner braided lines, you can cast just as far and with more ease with a spinner and with heavier rods pulling in monsters out of the water is no big deal.

Been fishing my whole life. Learned bait casters a few years back and I’ve owned quite a few of them and I gotta say.. they’re pointless. Spinning real and a light rod can catch big fish in small streams, small fish in big lakes and anything in between. No adjustment, no concern for bait weight or anything else except enjoying the experience. (Obviously a light rod isn’t catching a 40 pounder but you know what I’m sayin)

everyone I know who surf fish doesn't like using bait caster/conventional reel. They say that they can't grip the rod properly with a bait casters so they can't cast very far on the other hand they said that it's faster to cast, more accurate and more durable than a spinning reel

A large population of fisherman have to set the brakes to the point that you’re better off with a spinning reel.

  • @timmychurros

Actually baitcasters are known to cast shorter but be more precise. The fact that a spinning reel has 0% friction when casting as the line flies off the spool freely as opposed to a spinning gear that has a brake on it.

  • @raiderswish

Baitcasters do not cast farther. Its basic. Spinning reels allow the line the come of with less friction. Baitcaster have drag slowing them down. You are completely wong on this. You actually said baitcasters have less line friction 😂. If thats true then why arent they more dominate in saltwater fishing? Spinning is KING in distance

  • @jmp216

Apparently you haven’t seen saltwater spinners. They can handle 100 lb test. Not one baitcaster you showed can do that. Too small for catfish or saltwater line. Spinners do everything better except accuracy.
