I Turned 80 In August 2024, I'm Going Out With A Pole In One Hand And A BIG Mouth BASS In The Other! Remember, a bad day fishing is better then a good day at work! LOL🐟🐠🚤
❤❤ you legend! I couldn’t figure out why our 3 new reels kept unspooling line when a weight was on the end, and it’s because the little switch (I didn’t even know existed!) was on manual!! Thank you so much!!
Honestly, the best way to learn is to go to the dock and try. There are sometimes other anglers who are willing to teach new anglers. Just don't get nervous to ask one of them for help. I love helping new anglers. That is why I am currently working on all my certifications to guide.
Two years old but still good info. I will tell my new fishing buddy to watch this. I fish a local city pond here on occasion. Usually if I don't have long to fish I go there because easy and quick access. I have been running into a young man the last few weeks. He was fascinated by my spinning reels. He had never seen one before in person undoubtedly. I asked him about what he used and he said "baitcaster" I said ah you mean spincaster. He very much said "no I mean the open face reel". Sure enough the next week I saw him again and he was using a baitcaster. He wanted to try a spinner but said he was worried he wouldn't be able to can't with it. I said well surely if you can master a baitcaster you can certainly use a spinner. I was wrong. I watched and tried to teach him for an hour. He absolutely couldn't cast it. Even super bird nested it twice. I can't understand at all how he can be a wizard with a baitcaster and completely fail at a spinner. Had a old timer even come over and try to help him. He couldn't be helped. It's just baffling to me that anyone would have trouble with a spinning reel and ace a baitcaster. I guess I take for granted growing up using both.
Thank you so much!! I just tried today finish with my girl for the first time and it was a disaster!! Tomorrow I will give it a try again by myself and hopefully I will finally get it, thanks man!!
1:21 Why is my line loose and yours is very tight ? Any tips would be amazing .. every time I cast the string is super loose instead of stiff and hard to tell if I get a bite
Its been about 12 years since i last fished, and all i could find was a spinner as far as combos went, for an affordable entry level price. So this works out as a tutorial.
Why does my reel continue to turn and the line peel off after the cast is complete (unless I put my hand on it to stop the line from coming off?) And the line gets all tangled in a mess). Hope someone can help me with this.
I don't fish very often. I tried using a baitcaster a few years back and never really got good at it. I always got it tangled up. It was too much of a hassle. My friend wants to start fishing and wants me to do some fishing with him. I'll probably get a Zebco33 but would like to try a spinner reel too.

I'm right handed but I reel in with my right hand to, I don't know why but I do. I cast with my right hand then switch it to my left and reel in with my right
I was able to figure this all out on my own today. But the one part I didn't figure out he didn't touch on lol. I never figured out how to properly run my line from the reel to the end of the rod that I can reel it back with the handle without it coming off of that bearing that its ran through.
A problem I’m running into is when I cast out and let’s say I get a fish and begin reeling in, the line gets caught on the metal part of the reel below where it’s supposed to because the reel is bobbing up and down. This is creating tangles, loops, and many naughts. Does anyone know how to prevent this please?
@@SlimeDawgy so I’ve figured it out but I don’t think it’s a universal problem, I had a small piece of line hanging out from a spot where I had originally cut the line when I first bought it,and that’s where it was getting caught on
So I'm right handed but I hold the rod with my left and reel in with my right is that opposite for a traditional righty? Just thought that was funny and confused some.
Hi, both myself and one other have used 3 reels each similar to yours, as beginners. Each reel is set up the same as yours but why is it that both of us end up unable to reel in? The line also gets all looped and twisted. We do manually put the metal clip over the line to reel it in, but neither of us knows what we are doing wrong. 4 fishing trips later with new reels again, it's the same all over again. Also, what is that little rectangle eyelet to be used for, on the rod itself. I used that as the first eyelet but you don't seem to use it? Thanks.
Always used spinning reels as a kid but never learned how to deal with tangling and stuff. Doesn't help in left-handed and haven't fished in 10+ years lol
Angling With Alex well I just respooled and the spool is sitting in warm water right now to get some memory for the line but when I tried before, it was very loose when I tried puttin it through the guides and well it just wasn’t working properly it was coming off the line very easily and didn’t seem like it would cast right if I were to cast it. I have yet to cast one of these rods and reels but it just didn’t seem right so I restarted. I also don’t know what to put on the end of my line while I’m not fishing and how to keep it manageable when I’m not fishing. I’m mostly going to be fishing for bass and have some ideas on what to use but I can see it being a real struggle when I have to change bait in and out or when I’m grabbing my pole to go fish.
@@runofthemillz When your spooling up your reel - make sure to keep solid tension on the line so you dont get that loose feeling - feel free to watch my video on spooling spinning reels. To answer your other problem of when your not fishing and what to do: There is a little tab on the spool shaped like a triangle usually.. It will hold the end piece of the line so it doesn't come unraveled when there is nothing there. Either that or keep a lure on your rod to keep it ready to go.
Cannot keep my line from coming loose and ending up under the back of the reel when I cast and start to reel in. . Could somebody please offer what I am doing wrong. Thank you
@@kamarijackson1918 yes, I took the spool with line on it and soaked in hot water not boiling, for 15 min. Let it cool, then put it back on … works like a champ!
- [ ] Your finger should never touch the line. The bail (as mentioned) is down when you open it. Your finger should be touching the edge of the spool to keep it from moving. You release your finger from the spool to control line feed, put you finger back on the spool to stop line feed, very similar to a bait casting reel. Your finger should never touch the line. Try this I think you will like it.
