- I screwed up and didn't put my wife's mazda cx5 into maintenance mode before attempting the rear brakes. The piston completely wound off the shaft and the tiny c clip was found floating inside the piston assembly. This is the rebuild, MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE CX5 INTO MAINTENANCE MODE before you do the rear brakes so you don't have to rethread the piston! The hardest part was getting the c clip back onto the shaft and carefully winding it back on the piston assembly. The other hard part is getting the rubber skirt back on the piston and getting it seated.
You can also compress the brake piston without being in maintenance mode but I would not recommend it. You will have to remove the brake motor to accomplish this.
xelente video me pasa que me cambiaron las balatas y queda encendida la luz de EBP me genera codigo de error deve ser que giraron el piston.
I did rear brakes on CX5 today. Driver side cylinder would not go back, so I just turn it clockwise all the way back and so far the brakes work fine. Will see if it holds up in a long run.
Thank you for making this video…I could have figured it out eventually, but that little spiral clip that comes off when the piston unscrews threw me for a loop. This saved me.
Like others have said, thanks for making this. Me and my buddy just rebuilt my left piston after “starting the process” and entering maintenance mode late 😅🙌🏾
Great video but what is the purpose of the clip?
The end part of the clip is pointy and it fits into a groove on that piston. It must put some sort of pressure on it but I'm not sure.
It works like a lock from the experience have had
