This dose not always work, the battery just needs to have a little live to activate the charger.

My 40 kobalt battery would not change ,was dead for 2 years.
I jumped it with a fully charged 40 v kobalt battery +to+. -to- put it in the charger and it charged it is as good as new.i guess that the voltage was to low for the charger

I have one of the kolbalt batteries and it had some oil spilled into it. Any suggestions on how to clean it out. I WON'T charge. Thanks a lot

Wow? umm well I would start with isopropyl alcohol first because it dry's out so fast.

How can you charge a 40V battery with a 12V charger? I thought that you had to supply a higher voltage than the rated voltage of the battery in order to charge it?

No you have to use the right charger.

@@channelron3593This does actually work. I tried it, and it fixed my battery. I think since the battery was so drained, it’s voltage was lower than 12V, so the car battery charger was able to charge it. It raised the voltage in my Kobalt battery enough to be charged by its charger, so I’m happy.
