After decades of successfully keeping freshwater aquariums, I just received my first ever saltwater aquarium as a gift from my family for my 48th birthday back in September. They thought it was time I just "took the plunge" instead of being so afraid of trying to keep a marine aquarium and I am so glad they did! My first saltwater fishies are two captive-bred misbar ocellaris clownfish -- one orange and one black -- from ORA and I couldn't be happier! They are wonderful and so full of personality! They even hang out (not sure if they're "hosting" it per se) in the faux-nemome (a soft silicone one) I put in there for them since I wasn't sure I was/am quite ready for coral or anemones yet. Both ORA and their livestock are simply amazing! P.S. They are also getting an upgrade to their tank tomorrow in the form of a @Current-USA eFlux Wave Maker Pump Kit! I'm so excited!
I used to work at an lfs. Unfortunately, some of these will tell you anything to make a sale. I used to tell my customers to NOT rely on stores to educate them. There's so much info thats not biased on the internet. My boss eventually fired me, because my honesty cost him too much money. But I was the one that had to face irrate customers that he lied to. So, he didn't last long after because a lot of "his" customers only came there because they knew I wouldn't lie to them.
He’s right about the last one the clown fish that don’t host Anemone because there are tank raised I just recently purchased a long tentacles anemone and my clown fish is within couple of hours started to show behaviours of wanting to host it and after three days they’re hosting it now
the 5th myth is actually dependent on how drastically the clownfishe's natural behavior is changed through breeding, plus if their around any anemones or not. also, all these other myths aren't even real myths, no one has ever said or asked these myths and is easy to know that because this is the only channel that uses these as myths, while others have many many other real myths.
OMG! Thats why I have become so attached to my captive breed clownfish! He literally eats from my hand! My percula captive bred is not quite as sweeet as my orange oscellaris and both are captive bred! I thought the difference was because they wont pair like all my others and that why the one is affectionate it seems but I am sure it just about food! lol I have had lots of fish bit shes my fave!
When you was saying about clown fish getting attach to your owners my fire clowns like a dog every time I come in my room he comes out of his cave and sits there and watches me and soon as I get the turkey baster out to feed them they get proper excited my normal clown don’t have a worry in the would they just do there own thing
hello..i have two black storm captive bred clowns i got them 2 months ago as babies... they are still not paired... is it possible for them to still become a pair ? one of them has become bigger so it looks like i do have a male and female but they are staying away from each other right now
think a captive bred gold stripe maroon clown would behave itself in a 180 filled with passive/shy tankmates in a 180? they are so beautiful but i've read so many horror stories on their temperment.
#4 is crap you can only keep one pair per tank...i've added an odd number before and they beat the odd one to death...#5 is also crap when it comes to ocellaris clowns...if you do get an ocellaris to host consider yourself extremely lucky the majority of them want nothing to do with nems
brett harvey Ocellaris do and will host. My pair hosted in a bubble tip. I got rid of it and disregarded my maintenance algae got long and they hosted in the algea. I got rid of the algae and they hosted in my thermometer. Got rid of that too and they hosted my seaweed clip.
where they wild caught?.....ever captive bred ocellaris i have had and everyone i know who has had them could not get them to host.....there are the rare cases where they will host but the majority of them want nothing to do with nems
Captive bred means that the parents were not from the wild and the babies are there for raised in a tank...and tank raised means that the parents are wild and mate and have eggs in captivity or eggs were found and caught then they will hatch and be raised in a tank. Hope this helps!

I mean I've heard these myths. Of course, those are usually the same people who will tell you that beta do better in small cups than a large tank.

I love my ocellaris clownfish
CoMplEtley rAndum have they bitten you viciously?
@@kathleenmonsegue9700 yes but i love them still
I just got mine last weekend
Will they be agressive and bite their owners? I want a different looking pair of A. Ocellaris. But don't want to be painfully bitten. Lol
Kathleen Monsegue I have been bitten by a clownfish. It’s doesn’t hurt and they don’t have teeth.
A Master 505 yes they do have teeth I've seen their teeth.
Hahahaha
1:57 I know someone that have a breeding pair of wild caught that is 30+ years old @Robert King Clownfish
Love the videos I subbed
Is it illegal to release them in the wild captive ones will they survive
will the clown fish breed and lay eggs in the anenome?
this video is the first time Ive heard any of these myths... ya'll make them up for the video? lol, j/k
Captive bread ocellaris will not host with an anemone unless you train them to. This one is definitely not a myth.
What kind of clownfish is the white one @ 1:20?
Hi Josh - those are ORA Gold Nugget Maroon clownfish: www.orafarm.com/product/gold-nugget-maroon-clownfish/

brett harvey captive bred. Yup.
your one of the lucky few whose captive ocellaris host....the majority of them won't
My ocellaris hosted in both my zoas and a toadstool coral
Why are you using the terms ‘captive bred’ and ‘tank raised’ like they are the same thing??
Captive bred means that the parents were not from the wild and the babies are there for raised in a tank...and tank raised means that the parents are wild and mate and have eggs in captivity or eggs were found and caught then they will hatch and be raised in a tank. Hope this helps!
Darn it! Another "expert" cannot pronounce AneMone!! It's NOT AneNoMe. It's AneMoNe... Think Ana+money. Easy!!
Cool didn’t know that thanks 🙏🏽
