The pipe is probably sized only good up to a 120. I'm using a X90, my field is the runway at Shearwater in NS. The issues: 1) the rudder has next to no clearance to the fuse. I had to remove at least 1/8" from the bottom and make a new end cap. 2) you will need to grind the exhaust former in order to fit the pipe. 3) for the wing wiring, make sure you use the front hole of the wing root. 4) even with a Pilot (from Warbird Pilots) the jet's initial cg is tail heavy. I have my turbine as far forward as I can make it. Fuel tank is positioned right on the cg. 5) for your main struts, the wheels will go in the wheel well with the strut part on top, otherwise the wheels will stick out too far and look like crap. 6) all the servos are mini sized. I used HV Bluebird A920+ servos. 7) when doing the anti-rotation pins of the wings, install them, then cut off so you only have what you need for the clamps to grab, otherwise it will be very difficult to get the wings on, same for the stabs. 8) to strengthen the fin, I gooped it to the fuse. If I need to remove it, I can later. 9) treat the wing tanks with care. They are easily damaged as they are like plastic, not made of glass. 10) blue loctite EVERY screw off the retracts.
Nice video mate. From the turbines Iv flown, I wouldn’t go less than a 100! An 85 in my view would struggle with that to fly in a nice scale vertical for example, look forward to seeing it built and flying mate.
If this is still available in a couple of weeks, I am going to snag one. Thanks for sharing. Loving the carbon-fiber lining on the inside as well. Lookiing forward to more of your vids on it. Also, I am sorry about the Viper, and the two tears haha Cheers man. -Che
It's available right now. This is where I pick mine up from www.turbines-rc.com/en/jets-turbine/3054-black-horse-l-39-albatros-jet-turbine-172m-arf.html
@@ghoustanable yes sir that is where I found it also. I can’t snag it for another week though with the additional shipping costs. Hopefully it will still be available! I’ve got a good EDF plan for this bird already. It’s too bad you live in Canada or we could hangout and fly together. Love your channel. Crooked hat cam and all 🤙🏽💯
That's fantastic, I have so many questions...LoL. Did you use the stock fuel tank, and if so, what was your flight time, and what fuel was remaining at the end of the flight? Do you also have a link to a video of the flight? Any build suggestions or recommendations that you'd like to share, would be welcomed. Cheers.
@Garfield Houstan - Good Morning, We used the standard tank. We in South Africa, altitude 5100ft ASL. We fly between 50 - 70% power for 4min. Then we have about 30% fuel left. We used Du Bro 4-40. Savox servos used. I will upload the video to my channel.
Nice presentation. I like the size, but not a fan of dark color hard for me to see sometime but really its a military plane. Wonder if it could be repainted? I bought a unpainted one from Banana Hobby couple months ago haven't started working of it yet. I'd go with a 100 size engine and add a second tank for fuel if you want a little longer flight time.
Good point regarding the color... planning on installing high wattage led unilight system to help with the orientation. Cheers and thanks for watching.
Excellent video. I have the older blue black horse l39 on 90mm edf and love it. This looks like an awesome upgrade. Keep the videos coming. My winter project is to put my x90 in a black horse viper
Sweet let me know how it works out. I'm on the fence as to whether or not I should make my new Viper EDF or turbine so l'm interesting to hear how yours turns out and to get your thoughts. Cheers and thanks for watching.

The black horse, seagull, and phoenix model company is near my home in Vietnam, they specialize in producing very good wooden models, I produce composite models😊
Hey man, thanks for the video. I love the Black Horse L39. A friend and myself have been waiting for Motion to get it in stock for over a year like you. We live in Ohio. That will be my next turbine jet period! This winter I will be building the Black Horse turbine Viper. I see on your EDF viper you put a clear coat on it to make it shine. What did you use? I would like mine to shine like that. Did you have any trouble with the sticky covering wrinkling when your jet set out in the sun at the field? If it did, was it easy to iron it back out? One other question on your viper jet. How did you drill the holes and screw in the screws for the servo's in the main wing? I see they screw inside the wing from the side. What tools did you use? Thanks, Dennis
It was a two-stage automotive urethane clear coat. The clear coat does not have any issues in the Sun. Prep the surfaces with Scotch Brite abrasive sponge just to scuff up the surface so that the clear coat has something to bind to. Regarding the servos installations, I just used basic drill bit and just made sure that I wicked thin CA into the wood for additional reinforcement. Hope that answers your questions. Additionally, if you look under my black horse Viper playlist on RUclips there's a number of build videos and updates that I did with regards to the model it will be the same thing for the turbine version as well as far as servos and the installation piece goes. I would also strongly recommend that you replace the control arms and push rods that come with the kit they're not the best. Cheers, and thanks for watching.ruclips.net/p/PLa4CEb0Q6xj6haHS8PgvMFGRjBMpn8t_D
Nice jet...I wouldn't fly that jet with a 80N turbine unless it's a fomie jet lol...Guys will say there's flew fine but always look at the field and flying area they're flying from....Get one engine that can fly any 120 size turbine jet..Its better to have more power than limited power on takeoff lol My Predator 2.2 have a 210N engine 👍🏾
Nice..planning on doing just that. I just need to confirm if my pipe diameter of 57mm and bell mount can accommodate a 120. Funny enough, I'm also picking up a Predator 2.2 as well next year with a jetcat 160 in it. It's the green and black scheme, and I'm thinking of maybe doing a Jamaican theme.
@@ghoustanable Nice man I wish I put the same consideration into the color scheme because my predator I can't see mine even in good condition🤦🏾♂️ But the predator 2.2 is the best flying sport jet I've ever flown....My airfield runway is short and the predator comes in at walking pace, you can't go wrong 👍🏾

Watch the full video and I explain why this probably will not be a good platform for EDF without extensive modification for the intake and the thrust tube in order to get a large enough FSA area to produce the necessary thrust to fly this pane adequately.
