      That's exactly what I was thinking. And as long as the doll was fully clothed and not displayed in a sexual manner, what is there to talk about. It's more concerning that there are people walking around, able to tell that a dressed mannequin is actually a love doll. It would be a waste of money if they could have bought a similar, realistic looking mannequin for a lot less. But then, no one would be talking about it, and maybe that's exactly what they were going for.

    Genuinely don't see the problem with this. Noone would even know without being informed about it first so why would it matter? It having realistic genitals doesn't make any difference if it's all covered up anyways and aside from that it's literally just a different kind of mannequin. The only people who can recognize it are people who own one themselves, which completely voids the issue for those people too. They wanted to obtain a realistic doll and they found an industry which is completely focused on achieving that goal so it makes a lot of sense that they would consider it as an option. The only issue i can see would be the investment cost since the dolls probably aren't exactly cheap for the simple purpose they have to fulfill and maybe the dolls were just an excuse for the government employee to get his hands on the doll once the project is over, although that still wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't the main reason for the purchase imo, better than throwing it away.

    I really think it depends on the type of doll that was used. In this price range they are usually highly customizable (that might also be a reason why it was picked up in person). A possibility might be, that as a customization all potential openings were removed. In this case the only thing that was left would be something mannequin like. Without a question this was way to much money for such a project, but it may not be as inappropriate as it seems.

      Subjective. It may be taxes used but the Japanese gov is a democratic gov which means they have the right to spend taxes as they see fit if agreed/voted by fellow gov members, thats how a democracy works. Your opinion is just that as a citizen to that democratic country. 3k usd is cheap compared to the amount our governments spends on the same things we buy for a fraction of the price which is like below 1% so again 3k for a doll that costs 3k for everyone isnt unreasonable and w/e their goal was with this doll was im sure met. You do know sex dolls made in Japan and in the US costs up to 20k usd, you do know this, right? They could of bought one of the humanlike robots for $50k and up that talk. $3k is chump change compared to what governments spends for pointless things.

    I think also, in terms of real life character promotion for things like animated series and even for traditional and historical characters, this medium of like ‘real life dolls’ is actually a virtually unexplored area… I mean, can you imagine for instance a real life, life like 7ft tall Sephiroth ‘doll’ for instance… I feel like, cost is prohibitive based upon demand and maybe there is ways that this can actually become an above board industry… equally in robots for instance… it’s a unique maniform expression of sculpting excellence… so, like I say, if they did the thing the right way, it seems like it is less likely to be wrong doing and more likely to be a misunderstood exercise in calculated risk…

    It does look better then a mannequin and in the long run cheaper then models. It has genitals under it's clothing which will be odd to the person who will have to redress it out of site, but the general public wouldn't see. If having genitals under clothing is inappropriate then we are all in trouble. Might have been a cheaper alternative if using tax money though.

    I'm gonna be the outlier and say this wasn't a bad move. There's no way to know the "model" is a love doll unless you know about love dolls. To the average person, it's just a very good looking mannequin. And I don't think I've ever seen a mannequin that looks half as good as one of those dolls.
    If the intention was to make the clothes "come to life" by presenting a love doll, which is meant to look as human as possible, as opposed to using standard mannequins... I think it was not a bad idea.
    Love dolls are an increasing market in Japan. Some people even treat them as non-"sus" items and merely love them for their aesthetic value, much like a Ball Jointed Doll. To many, they're not just an oversized "sus" toy but a work of art, an outlet for creativity or even a canvas to project their feelings on. So I think the stigma around them is kinda silly since it's not like the doll was displayed in provocative poses or anything.

    Honestly, except for it maybe being more expensive than a simple mannequin and the decision in the first place, their is nothing wrong with it being a love doll, nobody is gonna know unless you tell them, and even then, what is wrong for children to see it. It's indistinguishable for pretty much everyone from a regular high quality doll/mannequin, unless you or your kids are gonna rip the clothes off, nobody is gonna know and without this article nobody would care.

    I dunno Jo Jo, that love doll is pretty striking. I suppose there are two questions, was the love doll used for any other purpose which I suspect can be ascertained forensically and did they do any other source search for similar ‘life like’ mannequins… because outside of the sex toy market, the life like qualities of this doll are super striking… is there a version that does not have the sex elements? Could be a growth market? Maybe like a general wireframe with lifelike head and arms and legs… something? I think, personally, there is a striking difference and frankly if there is no practical wrongdoing and they followed a genuine protocol to seriously pursue this idea that the man says he had, including procedural research… could be a nothing burger…

      Do we know that for a fact that you can get a more realistic mannequin than a silicon doll for cheaper?

    • @stuart3712
      @stuart3712 4 месяца назад +4

      This isnt correct. Most realistic mannequins do not articulate and they do not look near as realistic and they are hollow plastic or fiberglass. Mannequins that do articulate and mostly the unrealistic ones, they can go up to 1k if they are quality. The realistic ones that do articulate but they can run up to 5k. Also keep in mind, prices in Japan are just dumb high so even the prices i said is lower than what is in Japan to order. Sex/love dolls are cheaper for what you get which is silicone, no exposed joints and overall far more realistic. And no, that purchese says nothing about the employee other than he can think outside of a narrow mind like you.
