This plaintiff is a TOTAL opportunist! If he "works in tech", he SHOULD be aware that solid state electronics (unless there's actually power running through them at the time) can be TOTALLY SUBMERGED in water, and, as long as they're completely dried before being powered up, will suffer NO damage - so his "boxed Avaya IP500 PRI card" will be FINE once it dries off.
I have cleaned computer motherboards in an ultrasonic cleaner under 2½ gallons of water (after removing the CMOS battery) for YEARS and all of them are still working to this day. Moreover, I have a friend who regularly cleans his computer keyboards using a dishwasher.
The basic rule for solid-state circuitry exposed to water is: as long as it's dry before you power it up, it'll be just fine.

That doesn't make any sense. Why would you sue your landlord because your neighbor ruined your stuff?

@@DavidKen878 it doesn’t make sense to me either, but I’ve seen many cases where the landlord never fixed the problem that was their responsibility to fix & as a result, the tenant sustained damages to their property. Don’t ask me, I don’t make the laws but that’s the way it is. There are plenty of cases on this same very show that show those types of judgments. I’m not shooting blanks. All you gotta do is go look it up if you care that much

@@GreenChronicles561 However, that doesn't pertain to this case. The defendant made a mistake, he didn't have any preexisting problems with his dishwasher. Back in the day my upstairs neighbor flooded her bathroom and the water leaked into my bathroom. She had to pay for her floors and the ceiling leak in my bathroom.

It was driving me crazy that he kept talking instead of grabbing one of the supposedly damaged pieces and showed that it didn't work. Didn't turn on, display was weird, whatever. No proof, no judgement. A few pictures with water drops don't mean things won't work. I dropped my phone into a friend's pool once (with all of the cleaning chemicals, not just water). Turned it off, let it dry, still works 4 years later. PROVE that the stuff is broken

😂😂😂😂 this happened when my ex knew more than me and suggested dishwashing liquid could be used in place of the proper dishwashing liquid for dishwashers. After he poured it in, I put my popcorn in the microwave and when the bubbles started oozing out of the dishwasher, I grab my popcorn and put my feet up in the chair and watched the mayhem. Needless to say, I was NOT a part of the clean up team!

This guy is a jerk! Trying to sue for $4k in damage from a kitchen leak? It’s not like it was pouring rain in his apartment. He even got an Insurance check. Come on dude. The poor kid didn’t know how to use the dishwasher. He should be a little more empathetic.

Glad he got zero. Looks like he had a thermostat and two cameras that had water blotches on them but who knows if he's lying on those since he was clearly lying on everything else. Credibility shot.
