@Lq32332 Yeah except for reliability and durability, also if the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 is so good then why did Ford use the 6.8L and 7.3L Godzilla V8s in the Super Duty as base gas engines and not the 3.5L EcoBoost V6?

The dual turbos on the straight six has no noticeable turbo lag which confused as I gave it the beans. The truck only had 30 miles when I test drove it. It has start stop as well which is so smooth that you can't tell the engine is off. The smoothness of rhe straight six is very impressive. Most manufacturers implement a dual system with port injection washing away the deposits. Dodge did not do this. Finally, PLASTIC! This engine is built with waaaaay too many plastic components. the con is that it requires 91 oct. and the results it gives don't surpass the hemi by much ...
would have made more sense to add low end torque, loose the e-torque + auto start / stop n just offered the hemi for $2k hell even at $4k more.
I'm sure if stocked evenly on lot most would jump into Hemi vs this new motor ...

I have a ‘21 hemi with etorque I bought a few months ago, and have been driving BMW inline 6 TT’s for years (N54 & N55) in several different models. I agree that the hemi is smooth and linear and the power is there, but it doesn’t like to be rushed. The abundance of low-end turbo torque in the BMW engines makes them more playful. Really curious to test drive a Hurricane Ram, as the hemi and the N55 really add to the different driving experience of my 1500 vs. my 740i, which I value a lot.
In regards to fuel economy, the more you spin up the turbos the more your fuel economy suffers. If you drive sedately and leverage the torque wave at low revs, you can take advantage of the smaller displacement. I notice that the Hemi stays down at the same rev levels when I drive it sedately, but you still can’t escape the displacement.
One other comment-if this Hurricane turns out to be a solid engine, it’s easy to add 40% power with a simple tune and some bolt-ons. Just look at the N54/55 fanboys and coal rollers for that. 😉

It's kind of a waste of time trying to explain this concept to people such as yourself. Some of us want vehicles that are reliable and that just work. I would dare to say most of the population are like that. You obviously have a little bit of fuck around money which means you can afford the cost of repairs. Lets not sit there and act like your BMW is anything relating to reliable, you know it's not I know it's not let's just not do this bullshit where you pretend. Pickup trucks need to be reliable. Turbos are the antithesis to that. You can easily make a hemi 100% more powerful than what it is in stock form. Pickups are tools. They may have become luxury monstrosities. But at their heart they are tools. And I just need my tool to work.

If it was just an inline 6 I would agree with you. However it is a dual turbo..... Let me correct that it is an Italian dual turbo setup. Guaranteed to fail. Like all Italian car products it is not made for anything close to reliability.

That issue only presents itself in the hemis if you consistently idle it. It needs enough pressure for the oil to reach the heads. I'm not talking about idling at a stoplight I'm talking about people that get to a job and will keep the engine running for over an hour because they're too lazy to wait 20 seconds for the AC to get the truck cold again.

A straight 6 has always been a solid choice for a light duty truck. The concern I would have is on durability. I have read articles and see others discuss that they have maxed capability (especially the HO version) in the Hurricane as opposed to the Hemi. Could result in reduced engine life, especially if towing. And speaking about towing, MPG is more negatively impacted in a turbo vs a naturally aspirated engine. Got a couple of buddies with the ford twin turbo F150. Great around town, but boy does it take a hit when towing (especially something like a travel trailer). Worse millage than their old V8s.

There has been a huge misconception between N/A v8s vs turbo 6s . 1: Old school people tend to think the V8 produces more torque at lower rpm and that’s just not true. 2: they tend to think there’s a lot of turbo lag and that not true for modern turbo engines. 3: turbo engines don’t last and that’s just not true as they are actually built to handle the extra stress . I can’t assess to the rams but can the 5.0 Ford vs Ecoboost . The 5.0 has the noticeable v8 sound and isn’t slow by any means but the 3.5 ecoboost is faster, it builds more torque at lower rpm, not just on the spec sheet either. When accelerating with the 5.0 you’ll find you have to get it the downshift to bring the rpm’s up to make power whereas the ecoboost will likely hold the gear when you fell the boost come in . I found myself only needing part throttle to accelerate under boost when I’d have to give it more throttle to get the 5.0s transmission to downshift , it has power but it’s not as low in the rpm
