    on the peddle. food for thought. take the plastic mounting metal piece and weld it to the metal pedal. then you can bend the new metal pedal so it looks factory.

    • @democratsuck
      @democratsuck 3 года назад

      I was thinking somewhat the same thing. Just cut the spline "nut" out of the VW pedal & weld it to the Toyota pedal arm & call it done. Maybe reinforce it with some small plating "just in case".

    • @jimbote1968
      @jimbote1968 3 года назад +3

      @@democratsuck I tried that on my taco. The insert was some kind of weird alloy and did not weld to the steel at all.

    • @abpsd73
      @abpsd73 3 года назад

      @@jimbote1968 Is the insert splined or just tapered? If it just has a taper, a guy could bang a mild steel one out on a lathe. I'm curious since I will be doing a similar BHW swap soon.

    • @jimbote1968
      @jimbote1968 3 года назад +1

      @@abpsd73 tapered, it's easy enough to just bolt the toy pedal to the plastic. And if you reuse the pedal bracket you keep the factory stop.

  • @garymallard4699
    @garymallard4699 3 года назад

    To get that piece out of the fuel pipe...take 2 locking needle nose pliers...lock them 90 to 180 degrees apart on the piece or as far apart as you can )..and twist them towards each other ( using tools if manpower is not enough to bend them ) ..repeat as needed till it is smaller in size and can be pulled out easily...

  • @plus790
    @plus790 3 года назад

    Get rid of ALL plastic in the pedal. Salvage the tapered and splined metal insert from the plastic pedal and press fit/weld/mount THAT into an all metal pedal.

    a 1uz would have been a nice swap

    • @tannerbean3801
      @tannerbean3801 3 года назад

      Aside from fuel pump/filler neck/lines, I think this is a much easier swap.
      The UZ engines really are a shoe horn swap into the Tacoma/4Runner. I put a non vvti 1UZ into a 87 4runner, and much of the work required was just making it fit. Moved radiator forward, body lift for diff/ steering rack/sway bar clearance, custom exhaust around the steering.
      Anyway it turned out amazing but it is a lot of extra work just to make it fit in that little engine bay...

    Dude, you are doing the tanks the hardest possible way. You take all the bolts out of the bed, start the back 2 in a few threads, and flip the bed up and block it with jack stands. Literally change a fuel pump in a hour doing it that way.

    Nice. So what are the differences between the BHW block and the ALH block externally? Like would the same motor mounts work between the two or are the bosses totally different? if it is similar, I might trade the ALH I threw in my samurai for a PD motor. I ended up going with a fully mechanical landrover pump on the ALH, and its in canada right now getting rebuilt. But some commonrail goodness would be sweeeet.

    I love how clean your solutions to "making stuff fit/work" always look. I kind of cringed at that twisted wire around the fuel pump though. I came across this gizmo at a boat show while I was living on a boat:
    clamptitetools.com/
    I'm amazed at how many times I've used it since the for all sorts of stuff like this.
