Had the CLP-545 four days now and it truly is a whole lot better than I expected! I thought it would be good but to say I am pleased with it is an understatement. I live in Scotland so had to assemble it myself and found it no problem at all. However, it is heavy and it takes two people to lift the keyboard into place. The service and advice from epianos I found to be excellent. So thanks to all concerned.
a week ago i thought i would go for a Arius ydp-143 or ydp-163.... now i got the clp-535 in my mind. I never had anything to do with music - im 20 now and i wish to learn piano as my hobby. I heard, if im sure i will stick with it i should go for a Clavinover. Thanks for your videos, if i would live in the UK i would totally visit your store.
Great videos - very much appreciate you taking the time to do these comparisons, but it's quite difficult to gage the sound quality differences as your recording levels appear to be clipping on the mic quite badly - reducing the input levels on your recording device when playing would be super!
+Alan McDermott Thanks Alan, I'm aware it clips every now and then which is not ideal, I'll be using a more suitable mic from now on for comparisons. I think it's important for authenticity to use the 'live' sound and not a direct input as you hear on most demonstration videos. All the best!
+ePianos.co.uk Agree that room mics are the way to go. Impossible to hear how the resonance of the wood affects the sound if you take a direct line. Keep up the great and useful work!
Thank you very much for this informative review. I've noticed that 535 is slightly heavier to the touch, which is just what I need to perfect my technique.
Thank you for the review. I have tested side by side the 535 and 545. However, I noticed that the 545 was not more crispy or clear, instead it was more dull. 535 was brighter. I couldnt decide if the wooden keys were better, but it seemed softer. I would like to ask something. White keys are wood but the blacks are not. Their action is different, So wouldnt this make imbalance while playing? Isnt it better if they are all wood or plastic? Thank you!
Hello! Thanks for all the wonderful reviews. Does help me clear up some important questions about the different Yamaha digital pianos. Would you, by any chance, have a video on 545 vs 575, or 545 vs 585?
I am a beginner and owner of the Yamaha psr e353 keyboard, but after a lot of researching and trying out in stores i will invest buying the clp 545! the heavy weighted wooden keys feels amazing and somehow soft to my hands, now i just don't know if i should get the regular one or the polished one for my living room!
hey! Im also purchasing the 545 soon. I was wondering what you think about it so far. Any notching cons? Sounds? And polished ebony is also on my mind. Thank you.
Hi, thanks you for videos. Could you please do a comparison song piano of clavinova clp 545 vs 575 also? And a comparison clp 575 vs cvp 701 for listen piano song with amplifer 2x20W of cvp 701.
Hi I am not an advanced player but I also do not consider myself as a beginner. I'd just like to hear and feel the real acoustic piano sound and touch. I don't want to spend too much money though. I just cannot decide on. If I'd buy CLP 535, would I get what I want and play it with joy. I want to be happy and do not regret for my new piano. Will 535 help me? Thank you.
Hey Efe Did you end up purchasing the clp 535? I personally am leaning towards the 545 for my purchase but i would like to know your experience with the 535
Well, 535 is an amazing piano which is enough for me. I liked its sound, touch and all other features. It'll help me until I become an experienced piano player. It helped me improve myself a lot. It also helped me double my success on the piano. Thanks to Yamaha my love on piano is getting doubled everyday I touch the keyboard and feel the happiness of playing the piano. Thank you.
Hi! I know the CLP 500-series has different speaker setups depending on what model, but is there any difference in the actual samples? I assume you will get a better sound through the speakers, but if you were to record a wav file on the CLP 535 and the CLP 585 and play them through the same speakers, would there be any difference, or are the samples of equal size and quality? Also, I currently play the CLP-535, and I'm contemplating upgrading to either the 575 or 585 to get the better keys, and because at higher volumes the 535 can sound a bit muddy. Are there any good reasons to move all the way up to the 585 instead of the 575 if my motivation is mainly the better keys and to get a less muddy sound at higher volumes? Thanks in advance.
I can't seem to find this listed anywhere. Are either of these cabinets real wood? I've played the YDP163 and it sounded great but I hated the particle board feel.
All of the YDP series are veneer covered wood. And the Clavinova series are too except the polished ebony finishes which are a high quality lacquer top. (and are also approx £300 more expensive, but look really great).
Once again, thanks for these videos! Do you know how the clp 545 compares to a stage piano like the CP4 in terms of the key action and sounds? I can't quite decide whether to go with a stage type keyboard that has more features (that I may or may not use), or an aesthetically more living room-friendly Clavinova. Either way, the most important thing is the action.
+Universe Spec-wise and sound-wise the CLP545 is far superior having 256 polyphony (CP4 has 128). Also the key mechanism on CLP545 is better, they both have wooden white keys but CLP545 used the NWX which includes the escapement mechanism too, it's closer to the real feel of a grand piano without doubt. CP4 is awesome for a stage piano though! but I agree it may not look so nice in the living room. Hope that helps.
+Playa Z P255 is really designed to be portable and lightweight, the Clavinovas are designed to stay put in one place like a traditional piano (although not as heavy!). So they're difficult to compare. If you need to travel or gig with it then P255 is the one, if it's staying at home and you have space then a Clavinova would probably be better for you.
Cok arastirdim. kesinlikle clp545.... farklarını anlatayım. oncelikle 535 modelinde plastik tuş uzerine fildisi kaplama var. 545 modelinde ise tuslar tahta. tahtanin uzerine fildisi kaplama yapilmis. tahta tuslar size akustik piyano hissini fazlasiyla veriyor. tustan elinizi kaldirdiginizda rozenansin devam ettigini hissedebiliyorsunuz. Şimdi sıkı durun... 545 in en önemli farkından bahsedecegim.

Thank you for the wonderful review! It was extremely helpful and you convinced me to get the CLP-545.
You're welcome, glad to help, enjoy it.
You convinced me, I am taking delivery tomorrow (Fri). Many thanks. Will let you know what I think of it later.
Thanks Richard, nice to chat with you and I hope you enjoy it.
Great review! Thanks!
Thank you for sharing the compare. It's really help for choosing between the two E-pianos.
Thank you! This helped me a lot.

+David Cooper the wood key is definitely feel heavy like real piano, I just try it but forgot to try the black key( ´ ▽ ` )ノ
brilliant review, thanks
Hello! Thanks for all the wonderful reviews. Does help me clear up some important questions about the different Yamaha digital pianos. Would you, by any chance, have a video on 545 vs 575, or 545 vs 585?
Thanks Valerie, those videos are on the way. So subscribe for updates.
That's superb! Thank you!
Hi, I really enjoy your videos. Could you please do a comparison of clavinova clp 575 and 585 also? I'm trying to compare both...

Ghesquiere David Hopefully we have a CLP545 v CLP575 video coming soon.
+Ghesquiere David Yes!!! Please make it!
I'm tearing between two, leaning more to the 575 side. Will the video be done any time soon? Thank you!
I didn't know Bear Grylls played the piano that well :)
I am using it for more than 5 years. CLP-545 is a still nice piano.

And now, how much for this.? Are u still new product
Thanks for the video it is really helpful. Do you have a video comparing the 545 with any other similar priced pianos please?
+Nathan Harrison Not yet, but I'me working on doing 545 vs 575 soon.
"Soon" :'p
Thank you very much!
Why can I no longer find the 535 anywhere??
It's been superseded by a new version called the Yamaha CLP635 which you can read about here: www.epianos.co.uk/yamaha-clp635-clavinova-piano/
Hi, I am looking to buy either the CLP-545 or 575 and was wondering if you could give me some advice or maybe make a comparison video about it?
Thanks
Did you end up picking one? Im still on the fence idk if the 575 is worth the 1k more
+David Garcia Yeah, found the 575 for an excellent price from a dealer in Scotland (key player) very happy with it!
+theverygoodpiano do you happen to know if the black Keys are wooden? Thanks for the quick response btw.
+David Garcia unfortunately only the white keys are wooden on the 545 and 575
Why so much cheaper in the UK compared to the US?

Would be a great thing if you'd have such a video where you show all these models in their color variations^^
can you run an amplifier speaker out of the CLP 545? e.g. to increase the volume if playing live in a band?
Yes
Hi, Is the yamaha clavinova clp-550 better than these two models?
Thanks
I think the CLP550 is about 7 years old now. So way out of date.
+ePianos.co.uk i feel that you are a Yamaha fan. Could you convince me to get one of these models instead of a Roland HP-603 or 605 ?
which one is a better buy, Yamaha YDP 163 or CLP-535 ? Thanks.
CLP535

ePianos.co.uk Thank you! This really helps!
What is the name of that sample your'e always playing? I like it.
+Barak Bk It doesn't have a name, I just improvise each time. It changes every month or so!

+Playa Z CLP525
+ePianos.co.uk Thanks! :)

can one play these e-pianos 'silent' via headphones, or muted? thanks
Yes
thanks!

Had a question about how do I clean this digital piano?
Should i used some feather duster keys or should i buy some vacuum cleaner?
What abt the cleaning of the enclosed structure?

Ur advice is much appreciated.
Thanks a ton !!!
Just a regular duster is ok. But keep the lid closed in between playing as this is most effective at keeping dust off.
