    Detailed and useful comparison video. I was planning for Auris YDP164 or the CLP 725 due to budget reasons, but CLP 735 seems better suited for the long run. Design and size wise, I prefer the YDP S54 though. Please keep on posting such videos, you have a real love for the trade and the piano. Too bad I'm not located in the UK, would drop by the shop.

    My husband and I are keen pianists and we both love the ambience that the cathedral reverb effect gives, however in recent times we really prefer to carry our pianos off to our local cathedral in Durham just to get that "Real Deal Feel" - yes, lugging a Steinway Grand through the streets of Durham everyday is a bit tedious, but the sound is amazing.

    According to this review, any acoustic piano has zero value and the fun factor is minimal. I returned P-515 mostly because I only need two piano sounds, USB MIDI to my computer and a good piano action. Everything else has zero value for me. I will choose CLP-725 over CLP-735 without any doubt. I do not need features, I will not even check once.

    This is a great comparison. I would like to add that getting MIDI data from the 725 is not that big of a deal. For $99 or so, you could buy an Arturia MK-3 MIDI controller or similar, which will come with a demo DAW and a piano VST. I got the Model-D UVI software for free, and the sounds that come out of that will beat almost all digital piano samples from around this price range. Don't let that be a hindrance to you related to saving the $800 between these two. It won't be for me.

    Great detailed review of exactly the two models im trying to decide on. The binaural hearing on headphones sounds like a fantastic feature, and you point out its heavily favoured for 735. But yet they both have this, only that the 735 has it for the bosendorfer too not just CFX. Is that a big upgrade over the 725?

      Definitly getting the 725. Same (binaural) sound in the headphones; same touch (yeah 6 sens instead of 4 on the 735 lol…). The main differences are recording and pc features, for which I have absolutely no interest. I already have everything I need in terms of pc and recording at home. Just want a great keyboard and 725 is perfect. Review is interesting but a bit biased imo 😉

    As I watched this video it suddenly struck me. hilarious thought of a Monty Python skit. The more he talked about the 725 the more he developed an almost hatred for that model in lieu of the 735. I suddenly burst into laughter envisioning a Monty Python skit where perhaps he would take the 725 out back and smash it with a sledgehammer like a rockstar, then returning inside to give the 735 a big hug. I'm joking of course just a funny thought. Monty Python would have been proud. By the way I recently purchased the 735 and agree with his points 100%.

    Came here looking for the difference in features between the two models but the the reviewer turned out to be a master pianist. So I have a question here, is clp735 a good investment for a beginner who knows nothing about piano but wants to learn it.

    • @MrSupernova111
      @MrSupernova111 2 года назад

      I'm a beginner and I'm considering the 735 because 1) I'll be happier with the sound and quality over time as I improve and my expectations go up and 2) because the 735 is also a complementary piece of furniture that even if I don't play it I'll be happy to showcase it where it can be seen in the house. I wouldn't be so keen to display a cheap piano on a plastic stand with wires hanging out - it just looks tacky. So, I think for someone who is serious about learning and playing the piano as a lifetime hobby the 735 is absolutely worth it.

    • @go-away-5555
      @go-away-5555 Год назад +1

      The 735 speakers are a little over an inch larger than the 725, and the amplifiers for the 735 are dual 30w while the 725 is dual 20w. On paper the 735 should be better when it comes to the bass region and also be able to get louder overall.
      However I'll say in many reviews I've seen, neither of these models speakers will compare to a decent set of external speakers. Probably a big reason is because the internal speakers are, well... Internal. The piano body blocks the sound a bit. But also doesn't "help" the sound resonate the way a real piano body does.
      The bosendorfer samples on the 735 are also higher quality than the 725. The Yamaha CFX Grand samples are identical in both the 725/735

      @dvegan314 2 года назад +6

      That's... literally what I'm trying to figure out right now lol. Being about the same price, I think the CLP-725 is probably a better bet. Though they are very similar, the main 2 reasons (from the whole specifications details on Yamaha's site) that I can find are that the CLP has a 2nd tone sampling, of the Bosendorf Imperial, AND it has "GrandTouch-S™ keyboard: synthetic ebony and ivory keytops, escapement," which the YDP does not. The YDP has "GH3 keyboard with synthetic ebony and ivory keytops" which is an advanced GHS system, but presumably not as good as the "GrandTouch." Nevertheless, how it FEELS and sounds for you to play is the most important thing by far (assuming roughly the same price), so go based on that imho
      ALSO: the 725 has "Virtual Resonance Modeling," which the YDP does not

  • @richardgraham65
    @richardgraham65 Год назад

    Nice review, thanks. I am a bit confused about the recording functions of these pianos. You state that the MIDI information sent to the PC will not replicate the piano sounds in the same way as recording via WAV format. Surely the MIDI record will be far superior to any LINE / Headphone out or WAV format as it is stored exactly as played at the time and the only limiting factor would be the quality of the audio set up of the PC? If you have a pretty modern PC, the audio available from the Motherboard should be near perfect and if connected to a suitable external sound device, then there should be excellent results. I have a Roland FP-30X that is hooked up to my PC and via a DAW records via MIDI and when played back through a pair of JBL 710's is pretty earth shaking for home use. If the sound was fed through a decent amp and into some reasonable quality monitor speakers, it should be near perfect representation of the original instrument as MIDI should (correct me if I am wrong here) be a near perfect?
    Again, correct me if I am wrong here, but the CLP-725 has the USB connection for the PC, surely this is via a built in MIDI interface (which was available on the earlier 125 model that was removed on the 2nd generation) which should allow excellent interface with a DAW running on the PC.

    Thank you so much. I wasn't sure which one to buy and you explained it so good and detailed, that I decided to buy the 735.. Unfortunately I don't live in UK. Absolutely helpful content, presented by a very pleasant speaker.
