    Hello fellow Heepster! I agree with your assessment of this record. Favorite tracks are Waters Flowing & Rocks in the Road. Waters indeed has the essence of what made me love this band so many years ago. I saw Heep last night on the Priest tour, and as luck would have it, I met Mick and then the rest of UH in the lobby of our hotel before the show. I have a public photo post on Facebook of me and the band. Gypsy is so great live!

    48 years, that is incredible. This is a band I have yet to invest anytime with but very much enjoyed your commentary and analysis of the band. There is an awesome magazine in the UK called Rock Candy in issue #3 (sep'17) they printed an a great article about their dark days in the 80s. To have ridden through the dark days 30 years ago and still be releasing albums today is a fantastic achievement.

      Hi Andy, That sounds like an awesome article. Thanks! Heep's rebirth in the 80's was legendary, they escaped death! haha Metal Mickey picked up Uriah Heep's compilation "Your Turn To Remember" and digs it. Definitely a great setlist.
      I think they are playing in your neck of the woods before the end of the year, worth seeing if you get the chance. Probably a cheap gig too, I think you'd be..."well chuffed?" hahah Cheers, Chris

    Living The Dream caught me off guard a couple of Fridays ago. It was at the top of new recommend releases on my TIDAL feed. I gotta say it totally blew me away. It's in my heavy rotation.

      Thanks! I am sure Heep will be back in the US in 2019 to support it. They opened for Judas Priest this summer in Europe just like they did when I saw them in 1982.AND They both put out great records in 2018! Amazing!

    Hey Chris good evening my friend I just left for a moment to go sample this so I could understand the review better, oh and let me say this sounded energetic and like it was made in the 70s!! They were on it and still had that melodic sound that only Heep can do, so I’m gonna be still and listen now .... I loved rocks in the road ..... need to sample again ...... great video C and always happy to see you, take care - Lis

      Hey Lis! You got great ears for those guitars and sweet spot seventies sounds! What do you think of Mick Box's guitar tone? It reminds me a little of Montrose with some Pretenders shine on it! Rocks on the Road is probably the longest song they've done in decades, back to the 70's! So great to share with you this music, Lis! Have a great evening and week! Cheers, Chris

    Hi Chris, your knowledge on Heep is pretty impressive. I have some of the early 70s stuff but not much after that (as I've probably mentioned to you before). I checked out the Grazed Heaven video clip and it sounds like old Heep but with modern production....I must admit, it is a bit blight on me that I do not have more Heep in my collection, I'll try and rectify that in the future, really good album review as always my friend, cheers, leo

      @vinyltransmission  6 лет назад

      Hi Leo, That's a great description of the production on the album, you definitely have an ear for production as I know from your videos! Heep's 70's is no doubt the classic era but they have maintained their identity with admitted dips in quality or consistency through the years. Somehow they usually make me happier no matter what they do. Hope your having great weekend! Cheers Chris

    Ok now that is a review , well done Chris . Honestly I’ll need to go check that out , on my list now ✔️. If you had to pick only one Bernie Shaw era album , what would it be 🥁 drum roll plz

      Hi Darcy! Thanks for checking this out brother! If I had to pick one Bernie Shaw album it would be the "Unplugged" Heep album/dvd called "Acoustically Driven". I think my fav studio album from Bernie era is Sonic Origami, the material is perfect for his voice. Stoked you picked up Living The Dream, I've spun it ten times at least already! Cheers, Chris

    To my mind, the best UH album in 23 years. Great songwriting. Very heavy, very epic and progressive, very melodic. Great voice, fantastic operatic backing vocals (as usual), niceguitar and keyboards solos. But I really miss the rhythm section of Trevor Bolder and Lee Kerslake on this one. It also last a couple of Bolder songs to give more diversity. It could have been a killer but it's just an excellent album. For me the second best of the Shaw era, after "Sea Of Light".

      Trevor added something that can never be replaced, no doubt!

      @@vinyltransmission The opener "Grazed By Heaven" has been written by the new bass player Dave Rimmer in a typical UH vein.

    Stellar review!! Too bad you weren’t getting paid for this stuff. I feel like I should be earning college credits for attending your Heep video lectures. So funny how they were written off around 77- 78, and yet they lasted another 40 years, while all the critics’ darlings were left in the dust years ago. Good stuff!! Cheers

      Who would have thought in 1982 when I first saw Uriah Heep and Judas Priest live that 36 years later I would see them both play live again only weeks apart and that they would both put out high quality VINYL RECORDS in 2018??? Like you say, people were slagging Heep back in 82! I guess he who lasts laugh..Hope you're doing well! Cheers, Chris

      Nasty Metal Productions I think you might like Wake The Sleeper, it was 10 years since the previous release and they rocked it out. Sonic Origami is great too, just the more acoustic side of the band. Take care, Chris

    I listened you review but I haven't listened album except 'Waters flowin''. It was ok. It is really hard for me to get into this "new" Heep.

    • @vinyltransmission
      @vinyltransmission  6 лет назад

      Hello! "Water's Flowin" is kind of a quiet song to represent the album. Listen to the whole album if you can, even in sections if you have to. It really has a variety and flow to it that makes each song more impactful. The production is top notch as well, I can hear every player in the mix. Cheers, Chris
