The 5D classic! It's still relevant for sure. Beautiful full frame imaging for next to nothing💰
Absolutely. Here you can get one easily for around £100 and pair it with some nice canon glass and you’re good to go!
Thanks for watching, mate🖖
Funny little guy in the intro... Autumn is my favourite time of year. I am getting some rolls of Ektar 100 ready. Thanks for the inspiration David!
Yeah he’s an odd one alright 😂
Thanks for watching 🖖😁
I enjoy your videos more and more. Great landscape, amazing colors, and yes the mushrooms are always beautiful when they are poisonous or something like that 😂
Still a capable camera after all these years.
Indeed and it feels near indestructible 😂
nice job 🙌
Thanks for watching 🖖
Haven't really touched my 60D in a while. Tomorrow, I'm gonna go out there and take some photos. I really needed to see this today. Everything is really going so fast, I honestly need to slow down and take life with appreciation. Thanks, mate. Cheers to Chris as well.
I was always a Nikon shooter for my first decade of photography, but since using a variety of Canon dslrs since I can honestly say I love them, even the old clunky ones.
Thanks for watching, mate🖖
I love 5d classic colour rendering and fact that you see through real prism. I have it paired with cheap 50mm 1.8 Stm and its simply amazing 😁
I actually just bought the Angle finder C for it to allow for a bit more flexibility and less lying in the dirt 😂
I have the nifty fifty too and it’s a great af option, but I’m a sucker for the old glass 😁
Thanks for watching mate🖖
@@DavidFlowerOfficial I was really hoping that it'll work with my Takumar 50mm 1.4 but it's catching mirror when focus to infinity 😕
@siemalondyn ah yeah that’s one of the main reasons I bought a Sony A7 again so I could adapt anything to it, but it doesn’t have the look of the 5D
@@DavidFlowerOfficial and colour rendering from canon. Anyway I'll try my helios with canon maybe I'll find what I'm looking for. Thanks for inspiring video.
I miss my 5d classic 😢 I have a 40d though that has less than 5k clicks which I love.
Yes! The 40D and 400D both have a similar look to the 5D and the 40D is built like a tank😂
Thanks for watching 🖖
Nice shots man
Well today I was doing some nature shots with my Canon 20D & Canon 35 mm 2.0 usm lens
It’s always good for a street photographer to do these type of shots between time to time so he can feel refreshed…
Well contrary to how it looks on RUclips, I’m not actually a street photographer. I only started doing street photography videos because I enjoyed making the POVs and people seemed to enjoy watching them.
Nature though is where I actually started in photography around 15 years ago and so there are gonna be more videos like this🖖😁
It's true what they say about the 5D. There is a lovely quality to the images.
Yes indeed. It’s a wonderful beast🖖😁
Nice excursion - good to take a step back from all the bells and whistles and rediscover what we've forgotten. Have a good one!
Yeah I find myself not using more than half of what modern mirrorless cameras offer so this old, beauty is quite refreshing 🖖
@@DavidFlowerOfficial In my fantasy world I'd like to be able to order my camera bespoke - only what I want and none of what I don't. Sort of specify a base configuration and then add paid options. It's doable... we used to have it with cars... get the auto option, the vinyl roof... the GT stripes an extra carb and alloys instead of steels (Cortina😐). I've been shooting the E-M1X for a month now with my original 4/3 glass - it's a stunning camera, but still loaded with things I will never want to use. Cheers.
Very pleasant nice video - yes the screen sucks on the original 5D, probably the most frustrating thing about the camera for me. But it is a unique trail-blazing camera, historic in some sense. One wonders how long they will function, mine is still fine and I bought it new, glued the mirror once years ago, fine ever since.
Personally I can overlook the screen quality given the nature of the camera and I just bought the Angle Finder C for it to make those macro shots just a little bit easier. My model is the one that came a bit later with the new mirror mechanism so hopefully it’ll keep ticking for a long while yet😁
Thanks for watching 🖖
Awesome images 👏 great video as always !!!
Thanks, Alex. I’m looking forward to giving this a good workout this autumn 🖖
@@DavidFlowerOfficial can’t wait !!!
Absolutely! second that!
Thanks for the inspiring video 🤙
Thanks for watching!
Have a great weekend 🖖
Lovely work, as ever. I really must try and get a 5Dc someday… :)
I don’t think you’d regret it🖖😁
hey David , can you make a vid comparing the canon 5D classic vs Sony A7s Mark I . image quality . etc cheers
That would be a great video to make, but I no longer have my A7s. If I can find one for a good price I’ll make that video for sure🖖
👍👍
I'd like to know how you focus these old lenses without any kind of assistance from the camera. I've done what you're doing here and found I need to take a few shots varying the focus manually and then choosing the best one. Close-ups are little easier because one uses the highest f-stop possible and can measure the distance but you don't mention these approaches.
Manual focusing is something I always forget to talk about because after so many years I just eyeball it and don’t even think about it.
My usual approach to static subjects is just to dial in the focus to somewhere close and then just roll the focus back and forth to fine tune it.
Of course you’re not going to be 100% all the time, but with practice you get a pretty good keeper rate. Also as it’s digital you can always review the image and go again if necessary on these kinds of subjects.
For moving subjects using manual focus, I usually have the lens pre set to a specific hyper focal distance based on the environment and then just make minor adjustments to suit.
There are accessories like the Angle Finder C that I bought for canon that allows a 2x magnification through the view finder for finer focusing, but I didn’t use that here🖖
Cheers for another great episode (i really love how brilliantly you match the video with a music). I enjoy watching and learning about cameras. I have a few myself (photo) and was wondering what would you say about very old Canon 350 D? I dumped it a while ago but maybe I was too harsh to my still beloved camera? 😅 Cheers in advance
I’ve not used the 350D but my dad gave me his 400D and I absolutely love it. To me it feels very much like a tiny 5d and on comparison the images are quite similar. I’d definitely recommend giving the 350D another chance 🖖😁
@@DavidFlowerOfficial thanks very much :)
Great video! Any suggestion for noise reduction with these older cameras?
With the 5D it seems like they capped the iso long before it becomes a problem unlike modern cameras where they push the iso into the hundreds of thousands because it looks good on paper despite being mostly unusable.
Modern NR is fantastic but when I use it, I use it sparingly since over doing it can make the image look weird so in Lightroom I rarely use it past about 30% and often more like 15-20%.
I think the key to avoiding excess noise with older cameras is to nail the exposure in camera so you don’t have to push the files too much🖖
@@DavidFlowerOfficial thanks! That’s what I’ve found as well with my Sony a99 though for that I cap it at 3200
I started to pay closer attention to iso after owning the Sony A7s. Whilst it’s no slouch at higher iso, it’s pretty much unusable after 40k iso despite going all the way to almost 500k iso and below 6400 it’s not all that different to any other camera.
Seeing these older bodies made me wonder if they just put the higher iso capabilities in there because they can now and not because it’s all that useful lol
@@DavidFlowerOfficial very true. For various reasons I want a DSLR in my collection but Sony only made one full frame the a900 which is still 24mp but is old and noisy … also considering either of the 6D models which are obviously newer but I don’t have as much canon glass as I have Sony/Minolta
I have the 6D mark 1 and it’s a fantastic camera. The af system isn’t a whole lot better than the 5D, but it’s something I don’t mind as someone who shoots with old manual glass.
cuanta memoria cf soporta?
The card I use in it is an 8gb but I believe it can hold 32gb with firmware 1.1 update.
8gb will allow around 500 raw files 🖖
