New here to MJ lineup of sunglasses, how can you tell when customizing a model which lens material are you getting or does it always depend on the color you choose? Thanks again for the help! 🙌
Unfortunately with the new customization part of the site you can’t. We can see it and spec our custom orders as a wholesale account, but that feature ain’t available on the Maui Jim retail website.
@ThatGlassesGuy03 thanks for the reply! I see, that is weird!! So then you could have lets say hcl bronze with brilliant lenses? Do we know what is the difference between them materials wise? I might need to check fit and call you guys for the customization! Much appreciated for the info 👏
@rockodrilo6841 the Maui brilliant is much more resistant to scratch, failing mirror coatings, and overall provides a better optical experience (vision). The pure is lighter weight. As far as what you can have it varies by frame, but yes this one is available to be ordered with bronze HCL in brilliant (pretty sure I even have one that way in the shop 😂)
I am ruling Maui Jim out altogether, but i am still sticking with the rectangular style of shades. Currently on the fence between the Revo Descend Z (rimless, much like this MJ) and the Serengeti San Remo (older model, still available though). Technically i am also considering the Serengeti Dante wire flex (again, older model but still atttainable) which is very similar, if not downright identical to the San Remo, just slightly different lens shape and different frame tech. Of the three, which one would you select Matt? Help me decide and you won't regret it ;-)
Man that’s tough, you know I love the Serengeti lenses!! The descend Z was never a favorite and felt flimsy and cheap in the hand. I didn’t stock those at all while we worked with Revo (and still nothing against them in that regard just too many discounters and sales direct from Revo). Their H20 lens is something worth experiencing as well. From a style standpoint I like the look of that Dante quite a bit! A little. Ore intriguing visually than the other options, and we all knew that’s where I was going to go 😂🥂
I didn't like original Ho'okipa given their upper bridge kinda thing and nerrow hight Pure lens. I opted Banyans black frames with Maui Rose brillient. I won't like their 4 base frames, rather i go for their 8 base wrap to get protected all around. 6 base curv is also fine like in Pokowai Arch, Red sands and Huelo etc. One question I have in my mind, which frame would you suggest for formal occasions and office use in 8 base or at least 6 base wrap???
Full transparency the level of what “formal” is matters here. I would generally say there is no true formal 6 or 8 base these are much more sport focused. Wiki wiki is about as close as you’re going to get to filling that specific niche. T Henri Rossi if you have budget to burn offers tons of coverage in a Very formal package. Otherwise when I think formal I think Leisure Society or Blake Kuwahara… maybe Tom Ford and Persol for lower price points.
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 thanks four your input. What do you think about Maui Jim Black Coral? Are these office friendly? Black coral H249_19M comes in 8 base wrap in simple metal frame
These look so sick! Thanks for the review. Leaning towards black frame with rose lens
That would be a sick combo no doubt!!
Def good to have pairs for coverage and activity and pairs for style - flat is stylish but so much light enters
Right?! I love a fashion pair as much as anyone but they’re so impractical. Not a fan of this super flat trend lately 😂

These remind me of the Matrix
Interesting. I would actually say the older hookipa is closer to that look.
