  • A LANDMARK MISSION: A Long March 2C lifted off from Xichang at 0700 UTC today, successfully sending the Sino-French SVOM space science satellite into orbit to study Gamma-Ray Bursts. A #LongMarch2C rocket carrying the Space Variable Objects Monitor (#SVOM)Satellite, has been launched from the #Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan Province.
A French-Chinese satellite mission, Space Variable Objects Monitor (SVOM), will launch to study gamma-ray bursts, the universe's most powerful explosions.
These bursts stem from events like neutron star collisions or supernovae and provide insights into the early universe and the formation of stars and galaxies.
This mission illustrates ongoing scientific collaboration between China and European countries, despite existing political tensions.
This mission also involves ground observatories from both countries putting up follow-up observations within hours of detecting gamma ray bursts & transients such that their true natures can be more actively hunted down:

An observatory built by Chinese and French researchers will hunt for the universe’s most powerful explosions, gamma ray bursts, after being launched into a low-Earth orbit in another landmark space mission between the two countries. #chinaspace #SVOM #LongMarch2C

The 930kg (2,050-pound) probe, which took hundreds of scientists and engineers nearly two decades to develop, will orbit Earth at 625km (450 miles) above the ground to accurately measure the location and energy of distant, violent explosions known as gamma-ray bursts.

What, 5 years of fortnightly launches and NO Methane Gas leakage? USA launched their first Astronaut launch the other week, after 15 paying Russia and a South African to send their Astronauts to Russia's ISS and USA's rocket is stranded on Russia's ISS ... begging the South African Rocket to send his rock up to rescue their Astronauts.

@@JoseMaria-dj6pc Oh, you're one of those that keep telling us that Elon Musk is American because he is given Tax Free rights to run his company in USA. Then in that case, Elon Musk is not South African, he must be Chinese, because his biggest production of Tesla EV's are in China. Hang on ... no ...
