All joking aside I really wish things would have worked out for Coach O and LSU. He does love LSU, the players, and the fans. He was one of the best recruiters in the nation and that comes from sincerely loving the players. He coached the only college football team in history to go 15 - 0 and beat 6 top 10 ranked schools and won the National Championship. Joe Burrow had 60 passing touchdowns, 5 rushing touchdowns. Joe threw a FBS record of 5,671 yards in 2019. First ever in FBS history responsible for 392 points in 2019.
Fr he was a great coach colleges are so quick to fire a head coach. It’d be smarter and cheaper to go find a recruiting coach. Billy Napier would have been a great fit for this role at florida he’s done amazing recruiting. But that’s about it he can’t call plays or develop an offense or defense which simply just won’t work in the sec. If they would have kept Dan Mullen and somehow got billy on as a GM to worry about recruiting they would be in a lot better if a spot

Being able to swallow the bullet of paying O 17.1 million then immediately turning around and offering Brian Kelly 10 million a year to come here is absolutely insane, that alone is larger than a lot of schools’ entire athletic budget being used to pay 2 coaches in the same sport.
He won a NC at the place he loves and calls home and got so much money in his buyout he could decide to retire and enjoy his family. Sounds like a win to me
