I have only opened up batch 2. I have 3 and 6 on deck and would definitely buy 10 if I see it for no more than $90.
This bottle really epitomizes my feelings on sherry bombs and I would recommend to anyone to lookup Chris TheGoodDram Shows GlenAllachie episode from a few years ago to get that appreciation of malt matured in bourbon barrels. He only had 2&3 at the time and preferred 2 which was less sherried.
Soon after I started drinking batch 2, I dove into sherry. I was drinking A'bunadh tonight. Sometimes it just scratches that itch. I find some sherried drams to be as vibrant as big peat, sometimes it's actually spicy enough to make me think it is peat. Bourbon is just a whole different thing. Being more revealing I want to prefer simple bourbon matured malts but they are harder to find and less represented on my bar.
I'm a fan of these 10 year olds in theory, but not to the point where I needed to collect them all. 10 sounds good but I'm also waiting for Billy's own juice!!
Greetings Jack,
I am a subscriber to Chris’s Good Dram and I’m usually in alignment with his pallet.
I have batch 1,2,3… but only opened 3 and now the 10. I gravitate towards more inter grated sherry than a full blown bomb but appreciate the quality.
Also looking forward to their mature juice in time.
Cheers 🥃
I'm just glad I didn't bother collecting every batch. I collect Laphroaig Cairdeas and 10 and ECBP ( SB 12 &LR Red as I've been very lucky last few years) but not GA 10. I am giving up on ECBP too. Can't buy everything can we?
@@jackthepickledhound agree… always a sucker for the Cairdeas…
On you recommendation I'm tempted to pick up another White Port....but I found Warehouse 1 for $50.
Whisky problems!!!
@@jackthepickledhound I wasn’t impressed with W1…but for $50 I could learn..😅
Im not GA fan. Have tried core range and 8yo was ok for me. Had a chance to buy sample of batch 9 and decided to get it. Just wanted to see what the rave is about. Must say i really liked it. Lovely juice very easy to sip. Alcohol very well integrated. Robust and quite balance whisky. Im tempted now to buy full bottle. Cheers John 🤠🥂🙋🏻♂️
This would be right up your street then.
Cheers 🥃
@@justwhiskyhi again John, there is some kind of coincidence. I just reading a review of Glenallachie batch...10 at Words of Whisky 🤠 so recommend it for you for compare your thoughts cheers 🥂🙋🏻♂️
@@peatbull3426 just read it… kinda aligned with my take…
@@justwhisky 👍👍👍 well designed whisky but so yummy 🥂 🙋🏻♂️
So great to have these comparisons to the prior batches. (I just did Batch 8, and I'm still on the look out for Batch 9 ...)
Thanks for tuning in…
Cheers 🥃
Great video. I had hoped you would pick batch 10, as a friend just gave me that bottle to try. Still. These both sound really good, though 7 is low in my books. Cheers!
Yeah I heard a couple of those late batches were questionable…looking forward to their 10-12 year old original juice someday.
Cheers 🥃
Hey John, timely review of GA 10 CS batch 10. I have enjoyed the core GA 12, and GA 15 has been my favorite. I have GA 10 CS batches 7 & 8. I am so tempted to get the batch 10 if I see one based on the fact that I have enjoyed a couple of bottles of Aberlour A'bunadh which are big sherry bombs. Top that with your grapefruit and french toast note 😄😸 I think I will consider grabbing a batch 10 when it shows up.
Sounds right up your alley!
Cheers 🥃
I'm a fan of batch 8, but have not had other batches. I'm starting to get board with sherry aged or finished whisk(e)y. A lot of them are too saturated and the taste of the whisk(e)y is lost. Palates change all the time so maybe my sherry phase is coming to a close or at least slowing down.
Agree Peter…
Cheers 🥃
