    Hi everyone. Thanks for the amazing response to the video in the last couple of days, it’s really blown us away.
    Some people have also made some really good points about the diversity of the acts involved and raised questions about what’s been included vs what hasn’t etc. There are tons of hugely influential artists and sub-genres that we haven’t included in this and our main aim was to create a mashup that was foremost entertaining to watch, contain it to around 15mins, for it to primarily work well musically (and in the form of a Facebook feed) and have examples of the evolution of mainstream rock over the decades rather than create a kind of definitive documentary of rock. We really hope that comes across and you guys enjoy the video for what it is. It would have been great for us to start earlier on and explore more of the influence of the early pioneers before Elvis, which we picked mainly because musically it makes a great sounding intro with The Yardbirds. As you guys can probably tell, more hours than we’d like to think about now went into working out this giant musical jigsaw and getting it to work harmonically at the same time, but in hindsight we’d have loved to have tried to get some of the incredible women in rock to sit within the mix and feature a few videos rather than just noting their influence. Thanks for all the love so far and the interesting points that people are making too - it’s all great to hear.

    Bands/Artists that should've at least made an appearance:
    KISS
    Sex Pistols
    Motorhead
    Judas Priest
    The Ramones
    Van Halen
    Ozzy Osbourne
    Motley Crue
    Bon Jovi

    Green Day
    Bands that should've gotten more time:
    The Beatles
    David Bowie

    best video of rock evolution

    • @thebrazilianatlantis165
      @thebrazilianatlantis165 7 лет назад

      Great music, but certainly not a video of rock "evolution": Duran Duran followed by AC/DC followed by the Doors means _nothing_ about rock evolution. And speaking as a real Duran Duran fan, the idea that they are as important as e.g. Little Richard is silly.

    • @thebrazilianatlantis165
      @thebrazilianatlantis165 7 лет назад

      Depeche Mode were important but they were not the "first," they were influenced by e.g. Gary Numan, Ultravox, O.M.D., and the Human League.

    • @ashcoffman1831
      @ashcoffman1831 6 лет назад

      Boris Nikitin I have to respectfully disagree. Duran Duran and Depeche Mode both started at the same time in different areas of the UK. Both are influential but Duran Duran actually play rock instruments and incorporate synthesizers. And yes, they do play their own instruments live and they do it well. Very misunderstood band. Check out their full body of work and not just the radio hits. The non singles are the best.

      Ann Wilson of Heart commented on a video, too. But it would've been nice to see Heart actually PLAYING. Maybe "Barracuda"--I think that song would fit the rest of the video quite well. Maybe some Jefferson Airplane, with Grace Slick belting "DON'T YOU WANT SOMEBODY TO LOVE?", or some Pat Benatar "Heartbreaker", or Tina Weymouth on drums with the Talking Heads...

    OMFG I actually had to watch it twice, The first time I tried to keep reading but the headbanging was so intense that I just stopped reading and just concentrated on the music. Thank you for that!

    You could do one of these every few months and still not explore all that rock has to offer - but, what fun to try!! Thanks for the great kick-off!!

    The best part of all this is seeing the mutual appreciation all these artists had for one another
