I stayed in a Goshiwon the month I was in Seoul in 2019 and I loved it. It was 400 for a month in Hongdae. It wasn't anywhere near as nice as that one but it was a really awesome concept that I wish we had here in the states.
400 a month sounds way more reasonable hahah, still expensive to me tho but I am remembering prices from 5 to 10 years ago XD
Is it a short-term stay? I’m looking for a short-term stay of 2 months. I’ve found atleast 3 already. Could you tell me where you stayed at?
@@lasvegasnevada7514 All goshiwons are short term stays! They go on a monthly basis. Usually paid upfront for the first month, then pro-rata for the following months if you leave partway through a month.
@@lasvegasnevada7514 yes they are short term! I was there for 1 month and my room was a little bigger than average and had a double bed with a full bathroom in. There are cheaper ones that don't include the bathroom in the room as there are community showers and toilets. I think the cheaper ones were around 200-300 for a month but I'm not entirely sure because I asked for the room with all the extras from the start. The place I stayed at was called Living Castle Hongdae next to the Ryse hotel. Absolutely not the nicest but it was exactly where I wanted to be. So I wasn't looking for anything super nice as long as it was good enough for me to comfortably stay in for the month because I was planning on spending most of my time out exploring.
@@MirandaTessI totally did the same thing. I’ve stayed in Seoul for 2 months. I had goshitel (full bathroom) at Korea university area. It was very small but like you mention, it Was exactly what I needed since all I have to do is explore around and have a comfortable place to stay in to sleep and shower. It’s Closer to the subway Anam station. Since it’s a university town, it was full of restaurants, cafe and pocha (pub restaurants), daiso, etc. I really love the place I’ve stayed at because it was clean and quiet except for the vehicles noise but it was all great to me.
I’m loving the consistency! Nice to see Faust again too.

This place (goshiwon) can only exist in Korea or Japan. In any other country, the users would destroy it!!! Most people in the world won't behave or clean up after themselves.😂
I lived their when I was exchange student, he renovated and changed name of the place. Real good spot, there's an elevator from street directly down to metro.

Beggars can't be choosers, amirite? hahahaha At this point in my life, I wouldn't be able to stay in one either, but back when I was a student only here for 11 months, it was really only a place to live. I'd be out pretty much the other 16 hours of the day

Thanks for the compliments! And yes but also no. Things got more expensive across the board, but not by this much. A shitty goshiwon should cost at most 400K. 650 for that closet of a room is outrageous

He does video production for his own company. They were not making it financially. And we’re already supporting the channel with outside resources. I’m not sure if they took out that video where they mentioned it a few years back.

I wouldn’t recommend h-stay at all lived there for a semester abroad in Seoul. Loved the people I meet but the host was not friendly at all. Many students was in a lot of conflict with him.
This kind of review is EXACTLY what's needed. It boggled my mind how expensive those rooms were too... considering how shitty the location is. It is very clearly preying on young foreigners who don't know any better.
The rooms look nice though. Maybe worth the money.
You could get a lot better rooms for that price tho, especially as a student. Unfortunately, a lot of the places that are properly priced aren't English/Foreigner friendly languagewise :(
