As a buyer, it's great to see all of these prices trending downwards.
As a seller, NO-O-O-O!!!!!
Make sense copper age dropping most. It was the era that went the most ridiculous. It was an affordable entry era for people jumping in but many of those keys exists in the hundreds of thousands so they are very ver obtainable
But that is good, the next silver age is the bronze age because of the affordability
I’m waiting for your likes after you check out this real money train, I’m on my second round with over +300% profits. This is what you should be talking about Elizzarda!
I always learn stuff about comics when I watch Dave’s channel. It’s good stuff Dave 👍
All the books comic tom tries to push every week lmao 😂
I would say yes. It is like the stock market. If the entire market is in a downturn, even a solid investment might lose value. I think this is a great time to accumlate all those books you jonesed for and now you can buy at a discount compared to market highs. Pretty much anything you buy can;t loose because everything has already tanked. There is only upside. It may take a while but it's coming. Comic books are pop art that provide content to film and tv. They are important. How many artist and creatives out there were inspired to learn how to draw, make films or write because of comic books?
No Marvel comic from 1964 onwards is particularly rare. People were buying boxloads of them off the back of distributors' trucks; that's how all of the big dealers got their start. Racketeering, basically.
More like late 60s.
@@Boxingbear No, it was from Daredevil #1 onwards.
@DocReasonable
Correct about Daredevil #1 also along with Hawkman #1 1964. This old time dealer I knew said he got his big stash because of The Beatles. Beatles Mania had just started in 1964 and people were selling or trading their comics to get the Beatles records.
@@teetoo3790 Interesting... I sold most of my comics around 1984 so I could buy '60s records instead.
Thank you for all your efforts! It is much appreciated.
I love to hear the worst is behind us...I've been buying like a madman at the low.
I had marvels collectible classics #1 sent off for grading in November. It wasn’t in the best shape tho after moving a few times and some of my books got damaged. I’m still hoping for a 9.2 :/ thought I better slab it now to preserve it while I can
To all those who bought their comics back in the sixties and seventies for 12 cents to 25 like me it doesn't matter how they go up or down .
appreciate the hard work
Better sell now before you get holding the bag.
Great breakdown Dave! Thanks and happy new year!
Thanks. Happy new year to you too
Great breakdown💪
Please turn your microphone up some, thank you.
Thanks for that David, top stuff
yea I waiting for some of the bigger books I sold to go back to precovid prices to rebuy them. Hopefully in higher grades. People just made offers you can't refuse for X-men #1, TMNT #1 and my Hulk #181. Finding the 1st two are a bit harder than the wolverine thats pretty much a UF4 from the 70s haha
I mean this all makes sense to me - prices got way outta whack and should continue to come down I think.
First hellverine has been steady.
Cool analysis Dave
Thanks
Based on this video, my conclusion is that Comic Books provide a poor ROI, put your money into something else people!
Did you make a bunch of videos in one sitting because you have had the same shirt in the past 4 videos posted 😀
The autoplay on You Tube is automatically lining up your vids. The algorithms never done that before For me.
It's interesting that GSX 1 is doing better than X-Men 94. It used to be that they were sort of co-keys as the beginning of the new X-Men. In fact, if I'm reading numbers correctly, 94 used to be priced higher for quite awhile. Now, it seems that GSX 1 is being treated as the true key and 94 as a tier down -- as a first in ongoing series and 2nd/3rd appearances key.
I wonder if this will be a lesson for X-Men Ann 14 vs X-Men 266. Ann 14 is the first appearance of Gambit and 266 is his first cover. However, because fans like the cover for 266 so much better, they told themselves that Ann 14 was the first appearance. Today, 266 is currently categorized as first "full appearance" and Ann 14 as a "cameo". Objectively, that makes no sense, because Gambit appears on 7 different pages of 14 -- quite a bit more than the usual standard for a "cameo". LOL. Let's be honest, people sometimes rationalize, especially when they like the cover (266).
Which makes me wonder ... if collectors eventually realized that GSX 1 was the real key, when will they recognize Ann 14 is the real key? In 20 years will the price of Ann 14 be double or triple the price of 266? (Note: there are 4K 9.8 of 266 vs 2K 9.8 of Ann 14).
Same with Hill 180 & 181. Clesrly 180 is 1st app but 181 is a better cover -- the collecting community & OSPG deemed it as such. Same with XM 266.
I own three of these and all were losses. ASM 300, XM 94, and DD1.
Great analysis and insight. 2025 will probably be another great buyer’s market especially around Fall/Winter after all these terrible upcoming movies break even or tank. Cheers to collecting books again. Thank you. Appreciate the video keep them coming.
Hey, I have a really strange request but usually when I’m showering I watch you videos so could you turn up your voice? I feel like it’s so low at my max volume. I also have an iPhone 13 pro. I also realized I wasn’t subbed so I made sure to do that
That is a very odd request for sure. But my mic is maxed out already. There is some clipping occasionally. And I can hear buzzing in the background because my mic is so high. So not sure what I can do
@ Ok thank you! Maybe I need to invest in a speaker for my bathroom 😂. Love your videos and i’ve been watching for a couple months. I mostly collect FF and Doctor Doom so I love seeing them do well in the market.
You do like a good graph
The first Miles Morales and first Spider-Gwen will likely shoot up a bit of the movie comes out this year.
But It seems every Tom Dick and Harry has a copy of these two books.
Ya they had a high print run. So lots of copies everywhere
Too many people in credit card debt when you look at the numbers. That needs to change for any rebound to come into effect. I could imagine many people cringing when they look at their PayPal bill. To say comics are dead is the biggest fallacy. The desire does not fade for most collectors. It's in the blood. It's all about the exposable cash. If you have it you buy. If you don't you complain. That's how you can tell who has cash and who does not. Right now we have way to many complainers.
That’s a very good way to look at it
@@ComicBookInvestments If you think about it the younger collector is more likely to have debt. So what is he going to do he's going to have to curb his spending and sell off his collection to cover the debt he incurred while buying. This causes books to enter the market without any repurchases from that individual. He'll be back though once the debt is cleared. The current older collector may start to panic because he didn't sell during the pandemic and feels he missed the golden opportunity to cash out and he's not getting any younger. More books into the market without any purchases. It's a really bad cycle that has to play itself out. The silver lining is if you have cash I don't feel there will be a better time than right now or that may have passed to accumulate commodities in the comic market. Right now has to be one of the greatest shifting of wealth going on and most people are missing the boat crying. I may be wrong but I feel it's worth the risk to stock up. The plus is you love your books so it's a win win.
Please do this same analysis with Veve comics. 🤣🤣🤣
LOL how often can he repeat "down 99.9%?"
😂
@@runamuck316 Savage. Lmao! 🤣
New readers can't pay for the key back issues, so comic lore dies.
Almost no one under 40 years old HAS EVER READ the greatest DC and Marvel stories.
No new readers = dead comic book industry.
Marvel books will continue dropping as they are tied into terrible Disney releases.
Can someone explain to me the concept of buying an old book for a lot of money like a Hulk 181 vs. Something is Killing the Children, which we all know once the TV Show comes out it will skyrocket? Or can you explain buying a Spiderman 300 vs an Absolute Batman every variant for cover price? Just seems to me buying modern books or cover price books that you know 15 years from now will be big is how to collect. I have Ultimate Fallout, New Mutants 98...but I got them at cover price. Why people are buying these books in the hopes they would go up even further is crazy to me. Buy cover or newer hot books that you know will bigger is the way to go!
The odds of a newer book going up in value is about 1/1000
@@ComicBookInvestments Not if you buy books that you know will increase in value. Absolute Batman, we knew would increase in value. You are taking just random books, that's not what I said, I said book we knew were going to be hot! We all knew the Ultimates Year One Spoiler was going to be hot. We all know Ultimate Wolverine is going to be hot. You buy cover price and you can't go wrong!!!! It's how it has always been and I've been collecting since 1979!
@@lamareaton Absolute batman, i will give you that, although if the book wasn't well received it wouldn't have spiked price wise like that. Ultimate year one is a $20 book. I doubt Ultimate wolverine will go for more than $10 if that. No telling how most modern books will do 15years from now. I'd put money down most of those books you mentioned won't be worth much 15years from now.
@@bandoogiemanz I can't help anyone thatt doesn't realize buying a book you know will increase in value for cover price is better than buying a $2000 book that if you don't sell at the right moment, will decrease in value or give minimal return. This is why for the last 3-4 years people have lost money on key books, they don't know investing. Comic book investing is much the same as buying stocks, you get in early you make a profit, you buy later, you more than likely break even or make a small profit. I hope you guys start looking at things differently and I wish the best for you. And remember this isn't about ego, some of us have done this for decades, just trying to help you. Buy big books at cover price and buy multiple copies!!!!!! Every yeary there are several! That's the key!!! Good luck.
@@lamareaton Dude, nobody knows which modern books will gain in value. You keep speaking like it's common knowledge. You don't know. I don't know. Nobody knows.
Hulk 182 is Wolverines second (full) appearance not Giant Size 1
That’s another cameo
After you said "... and then we got" for the umpteenth time I checked out. NO SUB!!
In other words comics are dying! If X-men 94 went down,it’s all going down?
😮😮😮
I'm just patiently waiting for DarkHawk #1 to take off. Sky's the limit baby!
Turns out comics are more than cool covers and the writing inside sucks ass!
2025 needs to be a rebound year.
Eh not really, maybe we should drop again!
I have 17 out of the 40 books
Fantastic four 48 prices is nothing compared to 2021. I’m not sure if it’s because of the number of 9.8 added to the census.
