A little about me and this channel:
My name is James Aubrey IV and I just recently graduated college from Iowa State University. After college I decided to take a leap of faith. So I moved to San Diego California to pursue my passion for videography/ RUclips. Overall I'm a pretty chill person, outside of RUclips I like to longboard, dance, play video games, lift weights and hangout with my friends. I know that success on RUclips won't happen overnight but I'm willing to stay patient and put in the work to try to prefect my craft daily. This RUclips channel will be centered around my life after college. You will be able to see all of the ups and downs on my journey to success. So if you like the content make sure you subscribe so you can be apart of the Rome Life Family. (Let's build our own personal Rome's together.)
What is the Rome Life ? And What does it mean to be apart of it?
Rome Life is something I started during my Sophomore year of high school (one of the worst times in my life) it started off as me documenting my journey to recovery from my shoulder surgery but eventually it turned into a platform that I could use to encourage myself as well as others to chase our dreams.
Rome Life isn't just a saying it's a way of life and for the people who want to be apart of it have to realize that. Rome wasn't built in a day it took a lot of handwork time and most importantly patience. So you can't expect your dreams to be any different
This is a reaction video used to educated and give my feedback on the song and artist

Check Out their Song: Rich Girl
You've gone too far.
You know it don’t matter anyway.
That whole album that features Rich Girl is a masterpiece..
@@VinzClorthokeymasterofGozer - Lol
Like everyone is suggesting, "Sara's Smile"
A small suggestion, react to this with your wife. She's gonna dig it.
YES ABSOLUTELY THEIR BEST SONG!
*Sara smile
Say it isn't so Hall and Oates!
Next recommended Hall & Oates song: “Sara Smile”
He will love this for damn sure ! All time banger ! Soul for real
Whole heartedly seconded. Watching your musical journey is so dope, Rome.
Yayyy!! OK here you go ... I Can't Go For That, One On One, Out Of Touch, Private Eyes, Rich Girl.....
Yeah, we didn’t know what we had 40 years ago on our radio.
Exactly!
The 1970s AM and FM radio airwaves were a veritable cornucopia of musical styles and genres! Such a wonderful time.
I knew!!! Saw them live in a small venue, right after Abandoned Luncheonette was released (I think that was the time period). Simply amazing!
Recording technology was so different then, you had to be a good musician. You couldn't just punch in and correct mistakes. All the Motown hits were recorded on FOUR tracks with a series of mixers.
improvements in technology allowed for lesser musicians to start recording. Then the video age came and what sold records was how people looked over how they sounded.
That's such a good point. I liked Hall & Oates (for example) in those days but did not realize how all-time brilliant they were.
So RIGHT👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿 We sure didn't!😃
I was playing this CD and this song in my car years ago and pulled into a parking space to go grocery shopping. This song was playing when a young dude in the car parked next to me rolled down his window and asked me who was singing? I told him it was Hall and Oates and he said I need to buy it today...... He didn’t have to buy it because I gave it to him. He said thank you Ma’am! I told him, you’re welcome and I’m sure you’ll play it over and over. That made me very happy that day because I knew he would become a fan of Hall and Oates greatness!
Cool move.
Oh heck yeah! Well played. That dude will never forget that moment. I’ve done the same thing myself (from both ends) and there is nothing better than finding new music!
@DaisyAnnabelle65 : A magnanimous gesture, for sure.
Add my vote for Sara Smile. They’ve got R&B roots and a deep catalog of great songs.
Another one they did that has a different sound is "Rich Girl."
The blue eyed soul will get us every time, try Sara Smile next....🙏🔥
There's no "blue-eyed soul." There's just soul music.
@@lipby very true
Do "Sara Smile"! 😍 Great reaction!!
J, You'll love their "I Can't Go For That", "Kiss On My List" and "You Make My Dreams Come True". The last one has a great pace for a bike or stepper workout!
"I cant go for that" Apparently Michael Jackson asked if he could use a similar intro for one of his songs. That song was Billy Jean.
If it's the 80's songs, "Out of Touch" is a great one too.
You’re eventually going to have to take a trip to Daryl’s House. Where Daryl Hall collaborates w/other well known artist & talents, in a good old fashion jam session. With unbelievably gifted musician.
So, in the past 10 years or so, Darryl Hall did a series called "Live At Darryl's House" where he has a group of the best musicians he can find, and every episode he invites some other musician to sit in and jam for a day. The series is straight FIRE. You can pick any song from any episode and it's AMAZING. If you want to hear more from Darryl Hall, you really should check it out.
Live at Darryl's House ROCKS. Great music with every single guest he hosts!
yeah i love darryl's house too but i don't think that there are new episodes - most of them seem to be 2013 - thru 2016. saw zz top's billy gibbons the other nite. he's still great
@@thedocofrock1890 I heard that there are new episodes but can't find them. I was a big fan of his show. Once he left the house it seemed to power down. Excellent house band! That guitarist who came up from NO and took over as musical director: 5*
@@palacerevolution2000 got my dvr recording the whole series so i am looking for newer episodes.saw hall and oates in '82 at a rundown little bar in the western mass. tobacco fields. one of the best live shows i've seen.
His duet with Cee-Lo Green :O
You like this try boz scaggs “ low down” album or video version....

Yes yes! Love that tune

" Sarah Smile" ( another great song from Hall & Oates)
Their best.
I
Named my daughter after Sara Smile .
When I was little I hated that song. Now that I'm grown, I appreciate it. My friends think of me when they hear it and it's just kinda nice to know I randomly pop in to someones head... unless they don't like me ..lol.. ☺☺😁
That is a master class in storytelling of love, pain etc. etc.
My favorite song of all time ❤ The lyrics, instrumentals, vocals, the whole composition is perfect in every way.
From them i would suggest :
You Make My Dreams Come True
I Cant Go For That
and
Sarah Smile
Private Eyes
Kiss on my list
And the first two songs in Eduardo's list are part of their Rock and Roll HOF set! :)
Check out the band - Bread - everything I own, If, Diary, Audbry, Make it with you, guitar man........all amazing
My favorites by them that I'd love to see: Sweet Surrender and It Don't Matter to Me
I love Bread!!😊
Sara Smile next Please! My favorite from them! All of their songs are great!♥️ In fact their song I Cant Go For That, Rich Girl, You Make My Dreams Come True and many more!
Philadelphia just had a unique sound that artists from this time captured. Even Elton John referenced it.
One of the most meticulously arranged pop songs ever. Three key changes at the bridge. And the vocals are some of the best I’ve ever heard.
I bought this on a 45 when I was 12!
Check out "I Can't Go For That" Live at Darryl's House, ft. CeeLo Green. The groove is ridiculous!
The extended jam at the end is so good.
Awesome
Daryl had just got divorced and John got stood up by his new years eve date so they wrote this song.
Daryl Hall toured with The Temps back in the day and retired immediately after saying he had lived the fantasy.. Im done..
Sara Smile and Out of Touch are a couple of my favorites of theirs. Such a great group.
Daryl Hall & John Oates - I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)
Glad you did there early stuff. These guys were bad ass back in the day. I could tell by your reaction. So much good music back then. 👍🎧🎤🎙
Bye the way, you have to look up Daryl's House. He got together with different artist and basically jammed to some great music!!
Sara Smile should be next!
Sarah Smile will put a smile on your face. Great under appreciated band that was decades ahead of their time
Rome!! Listen to Daryl Hall and Cee Lo Green do, "I can't go for that". They jam it at Daryl's house and it's super funky!
Sara smile by them is going to break your heart. Your reaction to she's gone was priceless. Loved it.
Geez....I forgot how amazing they were in the 1970s!
WOW!
Please play DARYL HALL & JOHN OATES [SARA SMILE]. Love, love the lyrics to this song!
This song has so much emotion to it...you feel that pain of a love lost!
“I can’t go for that”
DEFINITELY!!! This is the ONE! @James- you asked about them doing independent stuff. Darryl Hall’s show “Darryl’s House” is awesome. Check out “I Can’t Go For That” with Cee Lo Green here: ruclips.net/video/GoXxdObGKuI/видео.html
@@gsparkman Check out the version with Chromeo at Darryl’s house. Better than the version lo green version
@@anthonyf8121 I haven't seen that one. Will have to check out.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaas! I was waiting for him to listen to this!
The best of of “Philly Blue-eyed Soul”
This song is 9 years before Maneater. Originally recorded in '73 not famous until '76, then in '82 Maneater came around.
Oooo your reaction Special please do them live one on one (2003) live Sara Smile thank you. Luv watching you ❤.
I Can't Go For That & Sara Smile are great ones to react to. You'll be dancing!
SIMPLY,
THE BEST DUO IN MUSIC HISTORY,
AMAZING GUYS 🔝💯🔝
Back in the 80’s they were one of my favorite groups. I have seen them about 8-10 times in concert. Never missed them when they came around!! ❤️❤️❤️
Maybe the best example of how those two voices worked together. Seamless transitions!
Sara Smile my absolute FAVORITE!
And THIS RIGHT HERE was considered 'pop' music. That's how good the 70's were that the popular top 40 were BANGERS like this!
"Possession Obsession" ..... one of my Hall and Oats favorites!
Yep. I also like Say It Isn't So and Did It In A Minute. Those are two great songs that still sound excellent today. Hall & Oates also wrote Everytime You Go Away (and Paul Young recorded a version of it that became a huge hit). The original Hall & Oates version of it is fantastic, though.
Yah! Already know! This the blued eyed soul Philly Boy's!. This is 70s & 80s music at it's best! 👍❤
One of the best songs I've ever heard. Not just one of the best Hall and Oates songs, but one of the best songs ever. The singing, the lyrics, the musical arrangements, the production. Amazing.
Please check out on YT “ Live From Daryl’s House” ( Daryl Hall). He jams his songs and all of his famous guests with his band.
CeeLo singing I Can’t Go for That at Daryl’s is a must watch and listen! The best groove ever!
Hall and Oates are pure Philly soul.
Yeahhhh... you're in for a ride baby!! Thumbs up to every suggestion.
They are so versatile. Their influences are rooted mostly in OG Philly Soul, but that's not the "lane" they're stuck in. For more of their "Philly" sound, "Sara Smile", "One On One"; for more of the pop-dominant, "Maneater"-style grooves, you want songs like "Out Of Touch", "You Make My Dreams", "Kiss On My List", "Private Eyes, "Family Man", "Did It In A Minute'...this is a rabbit hole that it's truly a pleasure to fall into.
Hall and Oates is the most commercially successful duet in pop music history.
The most successful duo in Rock history actually. Great songs and better reaction
This is their best song. No doubt about it
I've been listening to this music for many years definitely need to take a listen to Sara Smile also I Can't Go For That keep up the good work l enjoy your show😊
Whole album reaction. Abandoned Luncheon was a real break through for them, from which this song emerged.
Not saying every tune is this much of a banger, but it's nice to hear what they were doing at the time. Solid album.
I love watching young people hearing real music. Just voices and instruments
Sarah Smile!
Hall and Oates "One on One" bra It's gonge trust me PEACE'
Yo, those horns get you hyped everytime..I see ya really getting into it when they come in. LOL
"Your kiss is on my Lips" is a foot tapper.
"One on One", "I Can't Go For That", "Sara Smile".
They're Philly boys, raised on that sweet Philly sound.
I'm 75 years old and still remember the first time I heard this gem.
This is my favorite of theirs, I have loved them since they 1st started. When I saw them in concert last year they still have the same saxophone player.
They are FANTASTIC...PERIOD!!!! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 next up Sara Smile!
I remember my dad turned me onto this band. He came home with a record album to put on his turntable. I’ve been hooked ever since.
My first Hall and Oates was their ( which I had on cassette so long, the label was falling off!) Along the red ledge! Spent my allowance on that cassette, never regretted the purchase - been a huge fan ever since!!!
Blue-eyed soul rocked in the 80s! Like most everyone else says, try "Sarah Smile" - you haven't lived until you've heard it. Soooo soulful!
“Sara Smile” if you want to hear a song as great as “She’s Gone”.
Oh jeez this takes me back to some of the best times of my life!!!!! ❤️
H&O's "One on One" is a great basketball analogy for a love song..
The music of the 70's and 80's will Never come again..Pure gold and I miss the hell out of it!!
"Possession Obsession" ..... one of my Hall and Oats favorites!
you got to hear sara smile
i grew up to songs like this on the radio and we think our gen made some of the best music. i am glad to see you guys starting to enjoy it
I’m a lifelong fan of Hall and Oates. Seen them 3 times in concert!! So happy you’ve discovered them!! Their songs are all so different, but the “Blue-Eyed Soul” ones are the best..like this one. If you get a chance, listen to their (the original) version of “Every Time You Go Away.” Paul Young had a hit with it, but he doesn’t even come close to their version. ❤️💋
Reminds me of "Baby Come Back" by Player.......Hall and Oates got me through a few boyfriends...lol. 🎵🎼🎶💜
This, and Sara Smile are still my favorites by them. That great Philly sound...
Philly soul.... ✌🏻😎 Daryl Hall is a National Treasure....
I've never heard this version before I like it!!!
The LEGENDARY Iconic Hall and Oates ❤❤❤❤
"Sara Smile" is my favorite...
"Everytime You Go Away" by Hall & Oates. It's so good.
One of my old favorites!!!
Please react to: Sanford Townsend Band: -Smoke From a Distant Fire (studio version) -Lots of saxophone in this song too -Thanks!!!
Great suggestion
'I can't go for that' is good too
Ain't got the words every time I hear this song..They are so great aren't they?👏👏👏💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯🎶🎶🎶
"Sarah Smile."
Blue-eyed soul at its finest!
"Possession Obsession" ..... one of my Hall and Oats favorites!
This is the GREATEST H&O song ever.. My favorite thank you so much!! I grew up on this music and I love seeing your reactions.
“Out of touch” was their biggest hit
I love love love love Out of Touch but I think I Can’t Go For That is their biggest
That's our Blue Eyed Soul brothers, a great band song writers and musician. You gotta check out Daryl's House so many people show up to sing with him. They are both cool guys❤️ Sara smile was for Daryl's girlfriend and collaborator of 28 years, she passed away, they were all very close. I just love them❤️❤️❤️
I haven't heard this in years.. I first heard this in the 70s on the radio in the car with my dad trying to sing along,, so it Brought back some old memories..
LOL! ' I did not know they had that in their Bag' ! Soo funny...bro, these guys were funk/ soul/ blued before they went 80s pop..they hits the tricks to please!
It's always so wonderful to see young people react to music from a different time. I loved this song. There's so much good music that's just been forgotten. Thanks for keeping it alive.
Hall & Oates, Wait For Me, and Every Time You Go Away (you take the biggest part of me)
Yes, H&O wrote that one.
"Rebel yell" by Billy Idol
It does my heart great to see that people can enjoy music like this from MY youth - BRAVO!
Sara Smile is my personal favorite! Another suggestion, Lindsey Buckingham, Countdown! Well done, thanks!! 😀
Dude, like I watched this Like five times, hands down best reaction ever
