It's the Hamilton Sputnik, comrades! Deet doot.

In this video, we blast off into space with the 1955 Hamilton Automatic K-454, otherwise known as The Sputnik. In the mid, when the Cold War was ramping up, and the Space Race was about to lift off, Hamilton introduced their first line of automatic watches using Swiss made movements. The design language of these watches was a distinct departure from the tank style watches of the 1940's and early 1950's. Like automobiles at the time, these new watches pushed the envelope and borrowed queues from the aerospace industry, very much reflecting pop culture of the time. What a stunning watch! These are very rare, and ones in this condition are real gems.
While I love he American made Hamilton movements, the later Swiss versions really did take them to a whole new altitude, so to speak. The shock-resistant settings, the beat error adjustments and the overall build quality were technologically more advanced than the earlier movements from the 1940s. That said, the Hamilton 770 movement was an advance that led nicely to the trend leading to these Swiss masterpieces.

Hi Kathye - I'm a big fan of your crystals and adhesive! I've mostly used the GS PHD 24 (27.9mm) for this model, but I think I've also used one size down as well.

I bought an Omega Constellation Date-Just Chronometer in 1969, has been Omega serviced several times. Do you do servicing of Omega? If so how do we communicate on that?r

I pretty much stick to Hamilton's at this point. I've serviced a few Omega's in the past and it can be difficult to find vintage parts, at least genuine ones.
If you've had good experiences with the Omega factory services, I'd say to continue with them.
