hi everyone! welcome to our new home :') we finally said goodbye to our apartment of nearly 5 years and we will miss it dearly but we're SO happy with our new space. Here's a little apartment tour and a look at the slight chaos that was moving day. Sending love always!

Do two nights window facing bed, two nights window sideways bed. Do it early before new furniture finds you. Your new place looks great!

As an interior designer I vote put the bed where you wanted it, having it visible from the door is subconsciously going to make you feel unsafe and uneasy in that space, it's always better to put it in a way that isn't directly viewable from the door.
I agree with your placement of the bed. Sorry Kurt 😭

I was gonna say the same thing. Watched enough dear modern videos to know having your head in line with a door is very bad energy flow.
I don't think either is good feng shui. You're supposed to have clear view of the door from the bed to feel safe while you sleep
@@denissemondragon But the closets on the far wall make it difficult to place the bed in a command position, so the next best is Cari's suggestion for the bed. Kurt's position is the worst, because it's not only the most vulnerable place to sleep, all the foot traffic flow gets stopped as soon as you enter the room (making it more difficult to navigate to the closet) and the energy from the doorway bombards you while you sleep so you can't sleep well.
Also, on another note, the way your husband wants the bed oriented would make the most sense for the usability of the room. It would give easier access to the closet storage since you could go right to it from the doorway. If the bed is on the wall you want, then you would have to go around your bed to get to the closets and would have to leave more room on the side for bending and getting into the closets.
Plus I think there are sockets they might have a harder time using that way.
I’m voting for the bed orientation that you wanted, facing window. Having it right in front of the door will make the room feel cramped.

I literally LOL when Kurt said "I've see horrors" and when you said "Mom don't watch". We have never used a moving service even when we moved out of state, what the heck is wrong with us. Love the new place, I wish you much happiness there until the move to Corgi Island.🌺🌼

I agree with Kurt on the bed location. If you put it where you want, then there’s a strange rectangle of space between the bed and closets.

I remember your small basement apartment. I’m so excited for you. 😊 If you face the bed toward the windows, you won’t be able to see it from the kitchen/living area. If you can’t see it, it’s not a big deal if it’s not made and someone shows up for a visit.
The new apartment looks beautiful. So much space. My thought on the bed placement is the same as Kurt although I do see your point of view too. I think Kurt’s orientation will give you more usable space.

LOVE love the new place! Maybe move the couch a smidge towards the kitchen so you can put a little side table and lamp between the couch and the wall. One of Kurt's paintings would look great on that wall too!! So happy for you guys.

P.S. many movers here in the States do often contract with other services now, like packing, cleaning, etc. to make the move easier. Just like where you are, the services are add-ons. Glad companies realized people may need help with that kind of stuff.

i think the bed location feels best because it opens up the room more. as for the windows, i have seen on korean vlogs / insta a magnetic window washing set!! you should have a look. also how about having the desk in the middle of the room instead of facing the wall? can't believe you've finally moved!! the little objects around the house def made the space recognisable that it was yours!

You should use the extra space in the living room for a small dining table that could also be used as a desk space. You could have a bookshelf on the wall, then a small table out from that for more book storage too. For the kitchen, I would raise the small table thing by putting it on some kind of platform, so that it is flush with the countertop. Then you would have a really long counter for prepping or serving. Just some ideas! It is a lovely apartment!
Movers can pack for you in the U.S. too. We’ve always had movers pack for us. Once for a cross country move, and after kids, for every move thereafter. It costs more for them to pack because they charge you for all the boxes, but it was a service we needed. We’ve moved a lot. They come to your house to get an estimate of your stuff and take inventory so they can calculate how many boxes and what type of boxes to bring. They leave you with a stack of boxes that are piled high and we have to give away boxes slowly as we unpack. A different experience for sure! Congrats on your move! Your new place reminds me of when we first moved to NYC around your age.
There are some companies that use those plastic bins like she shows in this video. The company comes back to pick them up after you've unpacked.
I love your new place and all the beautiful sunlight from your windows. It's such a homey, happy vibe. The last time we moved, it was part of my husband's corporate relocation package that they paid for movers to come to our home and pack for us. It was amazing but so expensive! I can't imagine paying for that level of service ourselves, but as long as the company pays, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I'm currently in the middle of transitioning between two apartments and you can have movers pack your stuff in America. I suppose I would do it if I had a house full of belongings but for a small apartment I'm not sure it makes a lot of sense unless you feel completely overwhelmed.

8:23 personally i like Kurt's idea to have the bed closer to the window! it sounds nice to wake up, turn your head to the side, and see those wonderful views before you :) and it makes the room seem more cozy overall

My University alma mater announced a music tour for next year & alumni like myself are invited! They are going to Japan and Korea & you bet I quickly put in my deposit for the trip. I’m excited to be going to both countries for the first time a year from now & exploring these incredible Asian countries for my 1st time!! The last time I moved, I got the removers to pack as well. It was worth every penny, took them a fraction of the time that it would have taken me & was far less stressful.

honestly, for the kitchen table I would place two long wooden blocks under the legs and raise it to be counter-level and make it part of the kitchen. and then maybe buy two high chairs. of course, it depends on what you prefer to prioritize - if kitchen space or dinning space.
You really found a perfect place for the two of you!!! I like the folding doors, a little weird but sturdy looking and somehow the dark wood look suits you guys!!! It is weird how the wardrobes are so identical to the ones in your previous apartment. I hope you get to stay in this one for a while. It is so well suited to you guys❤

so happy for you both! The apartment looks lovely and that window cleaning was very satisfying :) Will you do a few more updates for your decorating the new place? I'd love to see what you do with all your books. For me personally I struggle with finding a home for them in my small house (I live in a small rowhome in the U.S.). I eventually settled on turning our sunroom into a half library / half office.
