It's stuff like that while, I'm happy to be proven wrong, makes me annoyed...because the noise is a critique found in all sorts of reviews of the car and It felt like they were making it up. It's the same with the speed...the way reviewers were talking, I was worried it would be a turtle...but the car is faster off-the-line then my old 02' WRX! It's crazy how fast it is! Maybe 148 doesn't inspire much, but realistically, driving this car...I don't see how you would need more.
Absolutely. I personally like my cars to make some noise but this car is very quiet. The exhaust is very quiet at idle and casual driving. When you give it some gas it sounds good but I dont even think its that loud.
@fagerbag I think that having the headrest canted towards the back of your head aids in rear-end collisions as it gives active head restraints less travel which makes them catch the drivers head more efficiently. As far as comfort I'm not too sure, but if you think about it, how often do you actually drive with the back of your head resting on it? If you do I suppose it wouldn't be too big a deal because of how padded they are; I'm sure theres some give there for the sake of potential neck pain.
@Michelangelo123123 The CVT drives really nice actually! I need a manual when I get mine but I test drove a CVT and it was not loud, very enjoyable to drive, better than Nissan's I would say
@irose1999 how to did you find your information on direct injection. I looked everywhere and couldn't find a legit source. thanks for the response by the way!
I agree man. Why are people so nitpicky about noise? Who cares? The Impreza is a great car. But like you said about the speed, I dont know how fast this car is but when I drove it it didnt feel that fast. It felt capable, but not too great like I'd expect from an Impreza.
The reason Subaru went with the CVT is because it saves alot on gas, it is the best known transmission that saves alot on gas, and does not need to ever hunt for gears, which also saves on gas, and makes the ride very smooth because it will never jerk the vehicle during your commute. The only huge downside of CVT's is there is NOTHING sporty about them, and of course it has an awful high pitch noise if you are to heavy on the gas. But other then then those 2 HUGE problems, the CVT wins!!!!!!!!!!
I love When he sais "who gives a flying fuck about how fast this car is on the track, its all about the reality of it" God it burns me when autocar etc etc test these cars on the track !!
2.5 back to 2.0 like a true japanese impreza. and i think they used the wrong animation when they were showing the engine boxer in the car at 3:38. the pistons werent horizontal lol
Here's the thing: I'm not a reviewer who's driven dozens of cars and can become nitpicky; I'm an average guy, but I like to think that counts for something. Take the speed for instance: to me, this is a fast car; is it truly? I don't know: I don't go to any tracks, or have any real intention too, so maybe It really isn't fast; but to me, who is a commuter like anybody else, it's fast. So again, I think my words mean something because, real-world wise, I think people don't need more then this.
Brian Cooley your reviews used to be THE BEST out of all on youtube...but....I feel they have no become shorter and slopped together. The last 3 you have done on the Chrysler 300 SRT-8, versa etc were short, whipped together and the end just fell off with no hint towards the end....come on dude...try a lil harder...you are the best!
I don't get the deal with people complaining about the noise -- the car is ridiculously mute to me; I've never been in a car that's as quiet as this one.
Looks are a subjective thing that means nothing, and going back to the CVT noise...really....I don't see now how it's a tangible complaint in the first place. How nitpicky can you be to not get a car because of the noise? The NOISE? My advice to anybody getting any car is, honestly, keep everything in perspective. Really, the new Subaru is much MUCH better then reviewers are making it out to be and it's because expectations are too bloated. Lots of space, comfy, fast, fuel-miser...it's perfect.
there is nothign "sporty" about a 148 horse power. Seriously, Sub. needs to up their game, this car looks boring outside and in, under powered, and frankly lame.
Subaru is having a identity crisis...they just keep changing styles that never look like a subaru. This one looks great fron the front, old Kia from the back. The interior is CHEAP black plastic. Yuck...and NO ONE LIKES CVT GEARBOXES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love his enthusiasm and style
Cooley makes me lol with his "tell it like it is" style. I wish all reviewers were like him.
that exhaust/engine growl does sound nice though...
I originally liked the rear tailights on the old imprezza hatch better, but the new one has grown on me, now.
LOL what do they do to the other 2 speakers? leave them crappy i guess! I love this guy!
Brian Cooley's the man! Enjoy your reviews...no matter what car it is. ; )

@imaginaiton4me it locks the band in sertent places to simulat like it's shifting gears
its fine very smooth

The Subaru Justy had a CVT transmission.
@18switchfoot yes it is direct injected
does the new boxer engine a direct injected engine or is it the same as the last 2.5 except smaller ??
Sport and CVT? That's not right?
the description says premium, it's actually a limited though.
Nice sub.
YES!!!!

Review the 2013 legacy!
y would a cvt need an m mode?
Best thing is, in my country you can also get it in 2WD. It’s probably over 200 pounds lighter than the boat anchor you guys get.
A dude turned his rwd and it took him half a day 🤷🏿♂️
lol i love this guys cuz he tells it like it is,
U should do the subaru legacy now brian!
the limited comes with hd radio he said this is the limited im thinking its the premium

good looking and great MPG, if only subaru didnt ruin it with that CVT. A 6AT would have seriously put this car on my list

YES 3:50 !!!!! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SOUND!!!?!?!?!??!?!?!??!?!
A shame about the CVT NOISE !....it's a deal breaker for me.
I think it's one of those cars that only looks good in black.
cvt is 1.5 sec slower 0-60
@eduardoig17 paddle shift
finally under 300 :)
Looks like it took a step backward
The new WRX and STI are not going to be based on this generation's Impreza.
what is this suppose to be, a subaru that wants to look like a focus?!
I liked the previous one, it had character... :(
