- Subaru's small car is well-rounded, with a roomy interior and compliant ride. Fuel economy is impressive given the standard all-wheel-drive. It's available both as a sedan or hatchback. It's Consumer Reports 2012 Top Pick small car. You can watch all of our Top Pick videos on our website:bit.ly/LsJ64m
I have the Sport Limited and with only 700 miles on the odo, commute is 12 miles round trip in suburban stop and go traffic. Avg 27 mpg. On highway I am getting around 34. I only expect it to go up as the car is so new. No complaints even with the current gas consumption.
Got Legacy with manual. Trans was hard to shift for first 6 month, got really smooth after. Love it
I'd just bought the sport limited hatchback, silver with black leather interior - the car is awesome. Its a lot of fun to drive. The car has more room than my Nissan frontier crew cab. I think the 2.0 litter has more power than my old 2.5 litter sedan car. My kids think it's the coolest car that they've been in, lol
Got the exact same car -- indeed, this car blew my expectations and is lots better then critics made it sound...it's not only very quiet, but it's loads faster then my old 2002 WRX.
Thinking about switching from a 12 Mazda 3 to a 13 Impreza. What do you guys think?
Subaru's CVT also has paddle shifters, so if you want to avoid high revs ,shift it to M (manual) mode; it has 6 "speeds".
I rented one from hertz, I liked it so much (&was lucky enough to keep it every month) I had to renew the rental (x3). It is not the fastest (or slowest) but ride quality is solid and AWD makes the car feel stuck to the road in the wet, I later learnt why this car was so good, boxer engine, Symmetrical AWD & CVT(one gear) transmission packed into one car really makes it stand out from the rest. Now trying to buy one as a second car, who would have thought their would be a shortage of this car.
I waited three months for my Crosstrek Premium 6-speed, delivered 8 April, 2023. Great ride, high gas mileage, handles sweet, lots of room for two Norwegian Elkhound kennel crates, what's not to like?
my aunt bought the 2.0i premium sedan two days ago used for $8500 (it was a salvage title but the car was in very good condition)
I just got my Impreza sport 3 weeks ago Its a fun car to drive
I love the final shot.
I personally much prefer the sedan (2012+ impreza)
Change your driving habits and you should easily be able to beat EPA estimates. I know, it might be a little difficult accepting that you may be at fault for your poor mileage, but it is usually the case.
that engine noise is NICE tho, my biggest and only complaint is I wish meter between the spedometer and tachometer was lit up. I actually don't like the white face guages either actually.
i have a 2012 impreza sport model, i like the car so much but there are some cons in this car as well, like he mentioned in the video; the noises, slower then i expected and gas is not that efficient as they claimed. but in term of the price compare to other competitors like civic, corolla and golf. it is much better, much more fun to drive. Overall, it is decent car and inexpensive.
I ordered a Sport Limited, can't wait :D
@Tom4Aksion I am 5ft 11 and impreza seats go back farther than I can comfortably reach and that's saying something since my old 2000 camryhad the seat all the way back
I don't think its going to be a sporty to drive as the Mazda. You'll love it in the rain and snow though !!! I bought a 2012 Forester last year. Haven't had any regrets so far. Good solid reliable transportation in any weather. You really should drive the Impreza first.... Good Day
The problem with this car is that they reduced the size of the gas tank, cancelling the beneifit (range) of the improved mileage. I was interested because of the improved mileage that would get me through a week without refueling if using the tank size of the old car. But when I saw the size of the tank fell, it fell off of my shopping list.
I test drove one of these the other day and it felt too heavy for 110kw, although it was quick enough for a little car- which it is not, it's a medium car. I didn't want to race out and buy one, unlike the Corrolla I drove a few years back was a better small car.
Subaru is AMAZING!!!
Standard AWD, better safety, better value, excellent ride, reliability that's almost impeccable, and it has a sport model if wanted, the WRX STi.
Smart; Buy an AWD drive car and expecting high mileage, not happening; and now you don't want another Subbie despite the fact they have more values than gas mileage. These things practically last forever and have great residual value. Also, I'd love to see a Prius get through 4 or more inches of snow.

between those 2 options...right...my fear Last test drive, went up the steep hill no problem.....On the way down though I couldn't slow the car down, despit e my winter rally experience & 4wd manual ... that false confidence when accelerating but can't stop was scary
@FCBacaR10 Ya for real it's a realy good value for what you get compared to civic and it feels very solid unlike corollas which I would never recommend
Love cvt.
it looks better in black but if your buying a car in the us its better to buy a jetta you get more bang for your buck
I'd by the XV in Diesel if it was on offer.
I never said perfect 5 star safety, I said "better safety."
Looks kinda like the a mix of the Prius and the new civic..
No car in its class scores a perfect 5 across the board.
0:12 looks like hes reversing
the tester is pretty boring
This vehicle is in no way, shape or form faster than your old WRX. Your WRX had 70 more horsepower and loads more torque.
If you honestly think it is, you have no clue of what you are talking about.
Wanna coast? Put it into neutral...
DO NOT get this car if you want good mpg! go to NASIOC and look up 2012 impreza mpg thread or fuelly.com and see for yourself....most people are only getting in the mid-high 20s, not even close to the high 30s. we bought our impreza limited in feb. we now have 5,200 miles, all highway, and only getting mid 20s...dealer says it needs at least 10,000 miles break in period to see those numbers. dont take my word, look it up yourself on NASIOC or fuelly.com. ..this my first and last subaru
@cardude1992 Hell yeah Pokemon! :)
1:15 PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL!! Seriously, not too tough
@rickyo56 You are a fool if you think corolla is better its way behind. I know I own one and have driven this car several times.
Cr should be ashamed for recommending this JUNK! Check their own reliability history, after 3 or 4 years, the car becomes a nightmare. Red circles everywhere!
Then learn stick!
@donfranki Biggest joke ever
i would buy this car if it was not for that ugly dash
??? :-/ Elantra better than Impreza? Ha ha ha.
FORD A VW JUNK MAZDA IS OK SUBARU IS BETTER IN THE WET TO
They only picked the car so toyota didn't win every group. Corolla is a better car then this.
:-( Impreza for girl or better for old women... Pity.
2014 mazda 6 is much better than this ugly impr0za
