Let's try this again. Hey guys. Without any Doubt or objection, It's very safe to say that Rachel and Karen Allen from Alan family firewood are Without a doubt the hardest working and Most capable women On all of the RUclips channels. You girls are rock stars! Chip
I have an axis on the way , so seeing your alls adventures with the axis helps me avoid some pitfalls. Shows me what works and what needs some tweaking. So thank you for that. Also your axis looks a lot better with Rachel standing in front of it than mine will with me in front
Looks like ya getting the hang of that axis . When im cutting into rounds and i come up to a real knotty piece i just cut the knotty piece out an throw it in the scrap pile doing that will save ya a bunch of time when ya splitting . One or two knotts is fine in a big round just split around them . I think K/L firewood an us were the only 2 verticals that did the 1/3 cord challenge an would be fun to see what you 2 can do on that axis . The verticals are alot more work but the quality of the splits for bundle grade wood is top notch . Great video you guys .
Thanks Phil, I think we’ll give it a go to see what we can do. Not expecting to catch Buster though! I sometimes will cut a real knotty section out but was sort of curious to see what we could do with it. Not much is the answer lol.
I got three things from this video, by the way was great, thank you. 1, really nice splitter, 2, Rachel wants the yard cleaned up,and she wants a camp fire ☺️! God bless you both! ❤️
I agree, not one splitter is the best!! Whether it be vertical or horizontal!! Ive been asked to cut some pecan shorter for smoking!! Good job Rachel!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thanks David, so many great options to choose from in the splitter world now. With the competition, we the consumer are definitely the winners. I hear Pecan can be tough to split?
Great job on the splitting and great video!! Not gonna lie the jealousy is real , Axis, 12-22, and the muscle wood all at the ready to use! Looking forward to great videos with all of these ! Well done! Heath be careful Rachel has looks to kill and you got one already!!
Thanks Mark, definitely an impressive line up of splitters to be able to run. Now we just need more time to run them! Mark, I seem to get those looks a lot!
Heath, thank you for showing the hour meter! I spent a lot of time and money replacing the tach on my John Deere only to have it fail miserably with the needle bouncing crazy. I know what to do next time! Rachel, please be careful! Ignore any biting comments as that Axis could hurt worse. Loving ya’ll’s videos!
Thank you, I try to share helpful tips and tricks when I can. I figure I’m always learning and I know others are too. Rachel definitely doesn’t like when I tell her she did something wrong but like you I’d hate to see her or anyone get hurt! We all make mistakes from time to time.
Nice Axis! Hi Heath and Rachel! Thank you so much for the tourniquet advice! I am going to figure out a central location to store my own tourniquet …just in case, ya know. You two are teaching us so much good stuff! -Dirt Farmer Jack
Hi Heath - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I find it more effective to place the knots closest to the knife instead of the table, particularly if the knots are at the end face of the log.
Great video Heath and Rachel. First Heath, we have the Solo Bonfire and really like it. Second Rachel, I really enjoy watching splitting on the Axis. I like the precision cuts and the large table and extras the typical horizontal splitters can't provide. Rachel you handle the Axis like a pro👍🙌.
Thanks Obie, I never really thought the smokeless pits were worth it but recently I’ve had a few experiences that really show hidden values of them. I’ll share in an upcoming video. Rachel is a surgeon on the Axis and the large working surface and taller working height are great on the Axis!
Nice Axis folks. It sure does make a perfect split for bundles.Stay safe and on Rachel with bad safety practices. Not being around equipment ,she needs reminders
Thanks Robert, it’s been fun trying different makes, models, styles. Hopefully we’ll be able to explore a few more brands and share them as time goes on. I’m always looking!
The Axis is fun to run, not as fast as the horizontal machines with multi split wedges but does pretty good especially if working alone. Definitely shines for bundle grade wood.
Great video Heath and Rachel . The first thing I did was put an hour meter on my Countyline . That AXIS makes some of the nicest looking bundle wood ever !!!! 👍🏻🪵
Great video. Nice looking wood to sell. Rachel is just as strong. Picks up the rounds or the rounds all split with no troubles. I noticed once, she was real close to getting her finger jammed with the ram coming down. She had her left hand around to the back of the round and fingers were looked like the my could of been jammed there. May not be as bad or close as I think. Hard to say. Maybe relook on the video and see for your selfs. Any way, have a great day, I’m still splitting wood, it’s cooled down by about 8C day time highs since last week. Humidity is gone. It might come back. 👍🏻
Thanks Noel, she is strong and proud of her strength! I love that she can help me out with a lot of things many couldn’t. We’ll check for that pinch point, always learning, and watching our videos helps us see things we’d never noticed it it weren’t recorded. Hopefully the humidity stays away!
NICE AXIS Am definitely Jealous.... Lol. I Watch your videos almost every night.... Now you even got the boys selling wood..... GOOOO MEGAN...... Hahaha....... Catch you all later....... Thanks for the videos........
Pro tip. White/natural zip ties aren't UV stabilised and they can fail in direct sunlight within a month or so. Good to see that you've lowered the return height on the Axis and good to hear that the tractor is back on deck.
I'm with you Heath, works in progress always get worse before it gets better. Besides, a messy woodyard is a working woodyard, at least that's what I tell my wife.
Heath, you continue to make me buy stuff 😂😂, new hour meter going on the 9-16 soon Nice Axis 💪 the vertical splitters make it easier on your back for sure.
Nice video Heath and Rachel! I picked up my Axis a few weeks ago and live it! Question for you. In the back of the machine on the lower portion of the stroke is the back wedge plate wearing into the welds on the base of the beam? I am going to take off the backe wedge plate and machine a 45 deg so it doesn't grind metal on metal.
Nick, thank you! I was getting a little bit of wear there as well, I put a little extra grease in the corners and it seems to have wore in of that makes sense. Our muffler has an extension on it and it is pointed down, may mess with it more in the future to see what we can do. They are a fun splitter to run though.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors yes they are. I had a wolfe ridge 35c and went to the Axis. They each have there own purpose but I am liking the Axis better. I can make good sellable wood out of stuff I couldn't before.
Fun video, guys! Starting to wish I had a vertical splitter like that. My splitter will pivot up into vertical position, but the rounds sit on a plate/foot on the ground. At 72, that is a lot of bending over during a splitting session which results in a very sore back at the end of the day. I had my doubts about getting even one bundle grade piece because those knots were started on the tree when it was very small, so they go all the way to the center of that piece. You may have mentioned it somewhere in the past, but what particular species of poplar do you have wherever it is that you live?
Ron, the working height of the Axis is great! Definitely saves the back, especially with the built in log loft / work table. I had my doubts too but thought maybe I could carve one or two out. The poplar we have is Quaking Aspen I believe or white poplar.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors Thanks for a quick response. I didn't explain, but I cut firewood for my outdoor wood furnace which takes lengths up to 25" or shorter because my splitter will only take 22". So, I cut my wood at that length, but when I have oak rounds that are huge, I have to split them vertically and just wrestle them into position. Occasionally, i have a huge piece too long for the splitter so I lay it down and split from the side. Very hard on an old fellow like me. I only split them enough to get them through the door of the fire box, so I have weighed some pieces before putting them in the firebox at 70-75 pounds.
Heath,... would you ever consider the Eastonmade Axis as your sole splitter if you had to only choose one? I'm in the market for a 37D with the STK 24 conveyor, in preparation of running an OWB, but also selling mainly bundle wood on the side. I have recently been considering the Axis, here lately. The two things that I really like about it is the lack of trash that it produces,...and the ability to manipulate your split sizes. The 37D with a box wedge produces nice splits, but with more trash. One thing that I noticed is that the physical demand is less, because you're not having to handle the wood once it's split. I know there are many other pros and cons to each machine. Just wanted to ask, because this is where I'm at.
Amanda, I actually plan on doing a video on this soon. But to answer your question it all depends. If you only plan on selling bundle wood and making enough boiler wood for yourself and have access to wood that is not real knotty I’d absolutely consider the Axis and consider it very heavily. Now if you deal with a lot of knotty twisted wood, or plan on selling wood in bulk in addition to filling your boiler and selling bundle I’d go with the 37D and conveyor and add the pizza wedge. As far as the waste from the box and multi split wedges go I’d feed that to the boiler. Both excellent choices! If you have any other questions please let me know. Also the Axis will take a much smaller working area than the 37d and conveyor.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors yeah,…that’s the plan. It’s bundles only, along with loose stacks in a roadside fire stand or two. I honestly have no desire to sell bulk firewood. There are guys in the area that do. I’ve only seen one or two who sell bundles,…and they’re odd shaped of different lengths in plastic grocery bags. I’ve already found a source for logs to be delivered on a triaxle. I figured my system would be to buck up a ton of logs,…and then split and stack in an IBC tote or two at a time. That would keep me somewhat busy without being obsessed 😁.
I change oil every 25 hours max and it pays off in the long run, plus everything has a hour meter put on it, I’m a mechanic so I know how to take care of equipment Never use cheap grease and grease it often

There is a better use and more value for those knotty ones instead of trying to make bundle wood out of them. Google Swedish candle or Swedish Fire Torch. They are pretty simple to make and sell for a good price. Sell them along side your bundle or bagged wood for quick clean fires. Poplar works good for them also. Good job splitting Rachel.
I THINK YOU just invented Firewood Porn. Great camera action! Rachel's a Star! How about a firewood dispenser at local camp grounds? I thought the Boy Scouts had a lock on firewood? Good things take time. Psalm 19
Nice axis, I am to the point where I have about 3 years worth of oak stockpiled that I can now be choosy about what wood I bring home. I don’t waste my time with the ugly wood anymore it is too much work.
I get something like that, I give it a try, but usually it's junk. I'm not a commercial guy. it burns the same. If you can hack off it small enough parts to fit.🥶
Dan, we are still learning it. Hoping that a sharper wedge will help cut through more of the knots with fewer kick outs! Definitely safer than the Power King though!

Hey HWM. You and I have the greatest splitters on God's green Earth..........our wives. ;- )) Shalom/gw PS Thanks for the heads up on the hour meter.
For sure! No machine will replace Rachel!
Do y’all sell to homes that heat with firewood.
Yes we do along with roadside stand campfire wood and bags/bundles.
WOW keep Rachel in front of the camera !
We try.
I THINK YOU just invented Firewood Porn. Great camera action! Rachel's a Star! How about a firewood dispenser at local camp grounds? I thought the Boy Scouts had a lock on firewood? Good things take time. Psalm 19
She is a rockstar for sure. We do pretty well with our roadside stands, what we need is more time!
Nice Axis Kiddos
Thank you and good luck!
Super fortissima💪💪💪💪💪👌👌👌
Thank you!
Nice axis, I am to the point where I have about 3 years worth of oak stockpiled that I can now be choosy about what wood I bring home. I don’t waste my time with the ugly wood anymore it is too much work.
Thanks Terry and good luck! I wish I had more oak!
I think scammers are trying to get me to text them by saying they have gifts for me and to reply to text number
Yes they are, we have reported and deleted them!
I get something like that, I give it a try, but usually it's junk. I'm not a commercial guy. it burns the same. If you can hack off it small enough parts to fit.🥶
Yeah, worth a shot and we burn the uglies! Almost free btus.
“It’ll never be as long as you own it.” Man that hurt.
Thanks for watching
I really like the Eastonmade splitters but not a fan of the upright. See way to many kick outs and looks like a finger getting.
Dan, we are still learning it. Hoping that a sharper wedge will help cut through more of the knots with fewer kick outs! Definitely safer than the Power King though!
Marketing twins, I’m meat marketing couple😂
Doing our best!!
