She indeed could do what no one else could, but just remember the losses to Bartoli in Wimbledon 2007 or Serena and Sharapova in 2008. To Clijsters after they both came back. She couldn’t keep up with the pace especially on the forehand side. With her small body she needed a big swing, a smaller one limited power and pace. I think she left coz she saw where she was going with all this - and she couldn’t bear to be a second rate player.
Henin's play is always a thing of beauty. Maria's screeching ought to have disqualified her. SOOOOO annoying! Why was it necessary? Henin gets extra marks for not letting it bother her.
Teacher? What do u mean? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 H2H is 7-3 for Henin 3 of 7 wins against Maria had gone in 3 sets (Here, YEC 2007 Final & RG 2010) Maria beat her in Us Open F, AO QF and Miami as well. It was great rivalry, obv Henin had more variety in her game which troubled Sharapova so much. Justine was never " Maria's teacher " , only Serena
I would argue that Maria in 2012-2014 would've been a serious challenge to Henin on clay courts. She was peaking as a clay court specialist in that period of her career and by then Henin would've been a lot older. I think they would've been more evenly matched on clay in the second half of Maria's career.
U only need to move sharapova from side to side or bring her to the net in order to cause her trouble and defeat her. U cant slough it out with her at the baseline and allow her to dictate the points
I wasn't as easy to do that to Maria later in her career as she developed into more of a power counter puncher. See how great she was on clay in the latter half of her prime.
Henin had one of the most beautiful one handed backhands!!
Very Talented Justine ...
I am always missing Justine Henin. She was extremely talented player. If she had not retired so early, she could win 4-5 more grandslam
Talent wise sure but her body wouldn’t have let her. She squeezed everything she could out of her full potential.
What happens when you do a quick glance... I thought it read, She could win a few more grandsons. I couldn't figure it out had to read it twice😅

Hello, could you please post matches between justine and lindsay in 2003,2004,2006? I think these three are all great matches.
Thank you so much ! If you could also post the quarter final match against Lindsay Davenport it would be great !!

Wow Sharapova.😮❤

@@djordjenikolic9059i meant... Yec 2007 "Henin was The Teacher" and Sharapova was The Student" 🤷🏻
These 2 produced some great matches. Henin was far better on clay. Sharapova was slightly better on grass. They were 50/50 on hardcourts.
A shame we never got to see a match between these two on grass

Thankfully they got rid of the green court.
Maria just doesn't have the net game nor the killer instinct 😅😅😅
1:03:15 one of the best left handed shots from Maria
