  • In this video we will go over how to install the Ecobee power extender kit (PEK) at a splice instead of the control board. We installed the Ecobee premium thermostat few weeks back. This is a post installation debrief to assistant anyone with a similar setup. The same steps should work for other Ecobee thermostats as well.
The PEK extender kit is required when you have four wires but no c or common wire. A common wire power a smart thermostat.
NOTE: Always turn off the HVAC power and / or breaker before opening the HVAC panel and installing a thermostat. If you are not comfortable, please hire a Pro to install the thermostat - you will get 3 years of warranty rather than the 1 year warranty by having a Pro install.
