- Alex’s Caves is a mod that adds 5 new cave biomes to the Overworld. Unlike most normal biomes, these cave biomes are exceedingly rare. They all contain a variety of unique blocks, items, mobs and mechanics that makes them considerable subterranean destinations.
Each biome added may have its own ambient particles, fog, brightness, light color and more. Because of this, it is recommended to experience this mod without shaders, since many shaders can alter the appearance of several of the biomes. The mod also has built-in compatibility with Just Enough Items and Alex’s Mobs.

I’ve said it before but I will say it here too:
This mod is everything I wish Caves and Cliffs was. Each biome is unique and offers a different adventure in each biome. And I love that.
Alex should be a mojang developer instead of them honestly

I’ve always said it perplexes me that modders people who literally make this stuff for fun, add more content and more IMPRESSIVE content in a month than what mojang the owner of the game with millions and millions of dollars at there disposal and resources has put out in years.
@@jradjj2988I agree however it’s important to remember a few things. For starters, modders do complete lots of cool stuff, but when they make mods a lot of it is focused on balance whereas mojang a lot of times is trying to make the game as smooth and balanced as possible. Should there be more in updates from Mojang? Probably yes, but we should remember there’s more than we can see happening. Plus there are 2 versions of Minecraft, both of which could have completely different bugs and issues

for those who are wondering, the small gray creatures and the squid with the two long tentacles in the abyssal chasm are from the alex's mobs mod.

@@Pop-fc5xm For one; it took Alex and his team a full year to make this, for two; Alex and his team *really* bit off more than they could chew with this mod, and lastly; Mojang has to recreate every part of an update in every single edition of the game from scratch (except Education).
@@morebrigges Them taking a whole year is not a reason against this. Also mojang only has two additions and (I assume) seperate teams for both. Minecraft is also the most successful game in history, they can make large updates if their design process wasn't so strict.
The Abyssal chasm has a Sabnautica vibe.
It even has it´s own Levaiathan, and alot of other scary things.
It remindes me a lot of the grand reef.
The jelly fish mobs also look like crabsqiuds.
(Maybe it also kinda remindes me of thel blood kelp zone)

The person/people who created the “Alex” mods is/are legitimately genius.
I can’t even imagine the kind of coding and modeling work that must have gone into these.
Also, there are enough creative, unique ideas in these mods to fill a series of fantasy novels.
They also made ice and fire
They can actually be found with the locate command, but sometimes they spawn out of range of the command, hence why sometimes they arent found
The primordial caves singlehandedly convinced me to keep up with this mod.

I love how not only is there so much, but all of it has a use. Every single mob either does something, or drops something useful, and they all interact with each other. An amazing mod
great mod, I always wanted something like this in minecraft. After all, the underground world of caves has always been somehow boring and empty, even after the “caves and cliffs” there was nothing special to see there. Unique caves with unique content and loot are awesome.
It looks like a whole other game in my thinking its just so fricking cool

this is a common misconseption, the caves can be located with the locate command for example /locate alexscaves:magnetic_cave . people tend to think that you cannot do it becouse the first commands that show up are /locate #alexscaves:(something) which does not sow the actual bimes but rather special conditions

Alex’s mobs and this mod are perfect for balancing each other and have a minecraft charm to them matching the art style of the main game
Quick correction, you can /locate the biomes, running the command '/locate biome alexscaves:magnetic_caves' ect.

The Forlorn Hollows seem to have taken heavy inspiration from the Fallout franchise. The molerats of fallout function very similarly to the corrodents, the under-zealots look just like mole miners and the forsaken are similar to the scorchbeasts both in appearance and attacks. I'm definitely downloading this awesome mod :D
Forlorn Hallows are literally so terrifying in survival, hope you ended up downloading the mod. It’s great.

also i hope they update it and add more stuff in the future possibly, the devs are increadibly creative with each biome and cave and I’d love to see more additions to each of the 5 biomes and caves like new mobs and items
The creator of the mod already said he's gonna be adding new things to the caves, mainly the dino one.
There's also 13 more caves that will be added.

Literally what caves and cliffs should have been. The primordial cave and lush cave are actually quite similar in environment, but lack the wildlife.
its easy to find lush caves next to primordial ones.

Fun fact: if you’re using the Nature’s Compass mod and try to find any of these using it, the compass will instantly break
You can use /locate biome but many times its out of bounds since these caves are rare
There are 3 caves each per world

The locate command didn't appear for me when recording was there a patch that came out recently?
@@EccentricEmeralddont know if it was a recent patch, but you should just be able to find them with alexscaves:(name_biome), make sure not to enter # before the 'alexscaves', because then it wont lead you to the actual biomes.

btw, you can use the /locate biome command if you first type in alexscaves: then all the caves show up there
Something that he did get wrong was you absolutely can use the /locate biome Alex XXX command. However sometimes they might actually be to far to find a certain one

It is possible to locate the biomes with commands. “/locate biome Alex”. This should show up a list of the five biomes
Minecraft could be able to make updates like this mod if Microsoft didn't put so many restrictions on Mojang. This mod is pretty good though.

Small correction: the locate command can be used to find the biomes, not sure why you thought otherwise.
The abyssal chasm really reminds me of mariana trench documentaries. As a thalassophobic person I really really hate deep sea stuff but can't help getting amused by it. The dev(s) really made a great job on the deep sea, it catches the (terrifying) vibe of subnautica. Love this mod
Primodial caves and magnetic cave is my favorite cave in this mod
Alex's Caves- Is a mod made by a way smaller and less budget team than Mojang. Gives alot of features in a single mod.
Mojang- Owned by one the largest tech companies. Adds Amethyst and Copper for an update.
Mods are way easier to make it than the actual updates in the game

All the biome CAN be located with commands, its just different from other commands

The forsaken is kinda cute looking. Makes me want to tame it 💀
I mean since L Enders Cataclysm, and Twilight Forest exist, it's pretty impressive/shocking to hear that this is someone's favorite mod. However all 3 seem to share the same biggest issue, which is the limited amount of times it can be enjoyed. If you beat a boss, or big special monster, that's that, it's gone, your friends on the same server don't get to experience it. I tame T-Rex, and now it's gone. I beat Golem and now it's gone, I beat the Ice Queen and yup you guessed it, it's gone.
Yea sure maybe you find a second instance where you can encounter 1 more, but these amazing mods aren't very multiplayer friendly.

Just saying, they can be found using /locate you just need to type in /locate a and it comes up with them, its because they dont start with their respective biome names but instead alexscaves

I'm playing it right now. And the first place it lead me to is the Forlorn Hollows. Man, it's difficult but fun ^_^ But if I compare this place to the other caves, I'm not sure if this is the hard or I am just a noob

/locate does actually work. It's just that. The biomes are so rare they often fall outside it's search radius. Annoyingly this happens with the maps too
No the maps need nbt data so if you get them from the creative inventory it wont work. They can also just take ages to find a biome.

I was so excited for this until found out only 1.20.1 was hoping for at least 1.18.2 but i know progress.
I was able to locate the caves with the /locate biome command

I tried this mod and its great but for some reason i just cant find the abyssal chasms because it keeps saying that there there aren’t any near me even though I traveled 7000 blocks for primordial caves and itdidn’t say anything
locate biome command works thats what i used to find them
Is that the latest update? It didn't let me use /locate when I was recording anyway. I had to use the maps

god i wanna be able to run versions above 1.17
to correct you a little, you still can /locate the caves with cheats on!! just type in "/locate biome" and then type only an "a" afterwards and it'll show up all the caves and you can pick whichever you'd want to locate first. Often times the caves might be too far though and the locate command just is unable to find them (although this can be easily fixed by just travelling a far enough to distance to be a closer vicinity of one) but it doesn't happen 90% of the time from personal experience

Cannot be locate with the locate command? How did I do it though? Did i glitch the mod or something?
I feel like the rarity needs to be tweaked. I threw version 1.0.4 into ATM9 and I honestly can't tell if they're INSANELY rare or if its a problem with the mod. Every time I try to use the map it keeps telling me I'm not close enough.

Dino land is my favorite, but forlorn is close
toxic and magnetic are to out of vanilla for me to like them, but the others are awesome.
I definitely love this mod but it is at second place to my first favorite not because of style but because of the nostalgia I had with it this mod being Fossils and Archaeology, side note a small feature I love about this mod is the Amber Curiosity item which if you use on certain mobs… I will keep that for you to figure out
Let's be honest. Everyone who played Fossil and Archeology revival. Was most excited for the Dinosaur cave. But I hope new update for Fossil and Archeology revival will come out at least a year later
