Yeap or 06 or 07 or 04 any of the last from 04 were awesome and built better too. Love my 06 still pulls beside a 450 no problem infact they all complain about its roost lol
My Favorite RM’s I still have my 97 RM 125 and I’m currently building a 98 RM 250 from the bottom up. I love the Showa Conventional Forks o the 96/98❤🫡🫡🫡
I have a 97 resto-mod. It's been a great bike! Factory connection sorted the suspension and now this bike is like a scalpel. It's got very mild port work and a fresh plated cylinder with a wiseco piston, minor head work,FMF fatty/power core, and v-force 3 reeds, put a flywheel weight in it for occasional woods riding. I have absolutely no complaints. Love everything about the way it rides/handles and power is plentiful.
Ricky RYan was riding a 1997 250 RM. One day at Hollister he Overjumped the Elevator Shaft and saild about 150 feet landing on a hay bale. He shrugged it off and rode away.
Thank you Tony . I had 89 Rm250 89-91. 92 Kx250 a few years old and then 93 Cr250R- loved them all, wanted a 96 Rm250 new but did fine with my 93 Cr that was excellent. Just got a 96 Rm250 with Race Tech suspension and pro circuit exhaust. Not as fast as our 2001 Rm250 but fantastic still. Hope to race the 96 soon .
This is absolutely golden information. Thank you for making these videos! You can't get facts like these on our beloved old school 2 strokes, modern day, that it not been for your efforts.
Good stuff , I was born in 91 , i had 1996 rm 80 and a blaster I'n the 90's. I wish I was old enough to drive the big bikes , the 90s bikes are hands down the best looking bikes . I wish they would bring the old crs and rm back , pretty soon I'm going to be looking everywhere for 90s bikes I can restore
Great bike. I bought one brand new for $5K out the door. Gave you two new tires a gear bag and a few other random parts. The bike handled incredibly. Actually still have it.
I owned a 91 RM250 and LOVED it.. previous bike was an 88 RM 250 and the 91 was so much better.. never ran any newer ones as life took over.. Always loved the looks of the 96/97s though.
The sad thing is, Mcgraths flat tire is really were he lost the points to end the championship..if it wasnt for the flat tire he would of won it!! so to point the finger on the bike wasnt right of him, I think! as usual another awesome video!! thanks for all your research and awesome videos~
I loved the fork on my '96 RM . It and my '06 yam SSS fork are the two best forks I ever ridden .... With a tip of my visor going to the '96 showa conventionals 👍
Bought the 96 brand new , after sorting out the jetting issues and spark plug , my 96 RM250 which is basically the 97 model was absolutely killer in performance , handling , looks , reliability. My riding buddies had newer different brands , my 96 was so much better.
My 96 was awesome. Raced a 125 also. Both had motor done by Eric Gore(lacked the top end I was used to on my stock CR’s and my 95 Noleen Yamaha) Great bike other than the clutch. I broke a lot of clutch plates for whatever reason. Front forks were incredible. The rough downhills at Millville were so fun charging hard
Ricky Ryan, the only privateer to win a SX race, rode a 97..... One day at Hollister he over jumped the Elevator Shaft and landed a good 150' at the turn....landed on a hay bale. And RR was always up front when racing Voland, Rodney Smith, G Stapelton, Rusty Holland etc etc
I own a 97 RM 250 and win races on it against every other brand. Quality is excellent and it shifts like a dream. I even had to pull a Honda back to the truck with it. 😂
Mc Grath had only 20 days to ride the bike before the sx, and he can't fit with the forks, that's why he change it with usd, and still he got the 2nd place at the final standings, a really good bike💪🤟🤟 the forks continues their life at drz's 400👏🤟
This was a fantastic bike for the local rider, except for the clutch and component quality. My buddy had one when i had my 97cr250 and his bike was better except for the engine. My engine was better. We both had aftermarket pipes and reeds.
Idk if there were alot of complaints but I believe the diva in McGrath wanted excuses if he lost. Albertyn kicked but on every factory Suzuki and at the time Stephen everts. Yeah I'm a die hard RM guy and I believe if they had a James Stewart type earlier in the game (88 to 04) they could have won more than just locally and at the amateur pro level.
Maybe in that time they were good , but there engines are a pain the ass nowadays…. Engines are a little crap … not the quality of the other brands . Also gearbox are not so good from the rm
This is still one of the best looking bikes ever. Unfortunately, the Suzuki was an absolute piece of junk. As apiring pros we'd get two free bikes every year and put 2000$ per month in parts in these things. That was a ton of money back then. When Mcgrath lost his championship aboard the RM, it was nobodies fault but Suzuki alone. They simply didn't have the support for their riders that Honda did. If only HRC would have continued working with the steel frame perhaps they'd be where KTM is today.
I still think these bikes look good, ahead of its time for sure.
Best looking bikes out there always
Good video, You got to make a video like this on the 2005 rm 250
I believe He has one

I bought a 97 125 in 02 while in high school off a friend with low hrs, will never part with it or my trx250r's..
@@Yamaha38XCRacer awesome 🤙🏻
Fun fast dependable bikes.
Best stock forks I had in the 90’s
Except for the purple shroud, the '96 RM250 was a beautiful machine. I love when Suzuki puts their name on the seat, which they don't often do.
I cannot wait to watch this later. Your series on the KX250 is what made me want to build one from the mid 90s. Thank you for making these.

Great content !! 1997 to me was the best year for dirt bike and atv!!
Currently building a 1989 250
Excellent walkthrough the machine Tony!!! Keep up the good work brother!
Thank you!
That was great I have a 97 250 to restore , I’m curious about the 98 rm 250 as well
Nice video. I would love to see a video about the 2008 model, the last RM250. Can you do it?

Patiently waiting for the 99-02 kx 125 review!
Full floater amazing suspension. Great air on those RM's
These are excellent bikes!
The rm had a hard hitting power band, I flipped an 80 and 125 over many times just from the power band hitting and not leaning forward
You had to learn to use the clutch lol
The sad thing is, Mcgraths flat tire is really were he lost the points to end the championship..if it wasnt for the flat tire he would of won it!! so to point the finger on the bike wasnt right of him, I think! as usual another awesome video!! thanks for all your research and awesome videos~
Agree 100%. And Lammy running into him.
The Ole right side ups .....didn't Mac use his personal honda forks installed on these ?

I have a 97 RM 250, solid dependable bike that I still win mx races on.
For a bike with conventional forks it sure was a stunning looking machine. 👌
I had a 96 RM 125 it was dope
I want one of these so bad

Only suzuki I liked was their RMX 250 neat bike

I wish you had the option to buy a shirt or hoodie premium or regular on everything, Cool stuff anyway I bought 2 RC Suzuki hoodies
I thought I had both versions available on all the designs if you see one that is missing that you want me to add let me know
@@TheMotocrossVault I will thanks I’ll be getting my son something his birthdays coming up

1997 when Yamaha went all blue all of the time!
I have a 1998 rm250 and I’d think a 97 is close enough to mine 😂
2000 was a way better bike
What is the best model year of the RM250?
2005
I had an 03 that I loved. Great bike
06
@@TheMotocrossVault Would you prefer it over the YZ250?

Not to mention the Hondas were better bikes by a long shot never ever owned a Suzuki!
I have a couple rm 250,s 1997 , there quality is less than the other brands .
These bikes were so poorly put together compared to the other bikes of the time Suzuki was always like that though.
