I provided some suggestions in the Sibiu area earlier on your Bucharest video. Try the villages nearby (Cisnădie and Cisnădioara for Germanic churches and fortresses, Cristian for a fortified Saxon church and Gura Râului for beautiful streets, Săliște for a beautiful mini town with a small market, and for something more exotic the high altitude villages of Poiana Sibiului and Jina). If you wake up early you can do all of that in one day (if you rush). Sibiu is also the starting point for the high altitude roads of Transfăgărășan or Transalpina, each being a full day trip however. They are probably not open now due to the weather though. For something more unusual within an hour's drive, try Alba Iulia (my favorite small town, in a star shaped fortress built by the Habsburgs with a charming walkable center and everything from Roman ruins to a medieval Catholic cathedral and a modern Orthodox complex); Salina Turda (theme park in a salt mine) is on the way and you can even visit Hunedoara castle the same day; or head the other way to Cârța to see the ruins of a French church from before the Saxon arrival, and you can combine Porumbacu de Sus village with its fairy-tale houses and possibly even the town of Făgăraș with its fortress. Google everything to gauge your interests, but the margins of Sibiu (Mărginea Sibiului) has enough things to keep you busy for a while, and some charming scenery and villages.
Wow thanks for all the tips, we really appreciate it! Unfortunately the Transfaragan is closed right now so we will have to stick to some smaller destinations 👍🏼
Transalpina is also quite impressive, and it ends in the pottery town of Horezu (very cute!) but I think it's also likely closed. I hope the drive up to Jina is open this time of the year, the high altitude villages are interesting and were not collectivized by the communists because they were too remote (the peasants were allowed to keep their land and livestock). Naturally, they flourished economically since they were not forced to give up everything and to participate in the socialist economy, and you can tell the difference when you see the houses.

Yep. Maybe not even Saxons, although people generally think of them as if they were. But they certainly didn't include Angles. The original Anglo-Saxons were a blend of Angles and Saxons. The Angles were from the border area between Germany and Denmark, and it seems unlikely that people from that region ever reached Romania to any significant extent. The original Saxons were the immediate southern neighbours of the Angles, living just north of the River Elbe (and Hamburg). The original area of the Saxons together with the southern half of the area of the Angles makes up Germany's northern-most state, Schleswig-Holstein. Angles and Saxons colonised parts of Britain and merged into a single culture there. This is of no relevance to German speakers on the continent. The Saxons later spread southward towards what is now the German state of Lower Saxony, and even further south and east to the modern German states of Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony. Only at that point, many centuries after Anglo-Saxons formed in Britain, German colonies formed in Romania (in Transylvania). While it is plausible that some of them originated in Saxon areas of Germany, there is an alternative explanation for why they were referred to as Saxons, so we have no reason to believe that they were almost exclusively Saxons. And there is a good reason to think most of them were not, in fact, Saxons (let alone Angles): Their dialect, though _called_ "Transylvanian Saxon", is actually not related to any Saxon dialect but instead to Moselle Franconian dialects. So this points to an origin in the extreme West of Germany near Luxembourg.
The most beautiful cities in Romania are Oradea, Cluj-Napoca, Brasov in my opinion. Alba Iulia, Sighisoara, Timisoara are also beautiful. You could also visit Salina Turda, it’s really impressive.

Birtan or Birthelm is also near Sibiu , better yet Madiaş also a lot of German/Sachsen influences. You can try the pickles in Romania are much more tastier than in Germany.
Everything, even the cabbage, what the locals do, not from supermarkets. Try to find a family that still prepare their own pork for holidays and when they do the dinner from the fresh meat they usually serve pickled cabbage with it, from a wooden barrel if it’s traditional, at least in Transylvania.
@@zingwibrothers Jam is the original recipe and Nutella is the modern one so I suggest jam, it's the best combo with sour cream and jam combined over the deep friend donut
Note that restaurants don't usually serve real papanași. They serve a much easier to make version which is basically American style doughnuts (with cheese dough, so better) which are deep fried and topped with sour cream and jam (I suggest the jam version, not the Nutella one, which is too sweet. Whereas the jam is a bit sour and goes better with the dessert). However, these are not real papanași. The real ones are made from semolina, not dough, and they are boiled, not fried. They taste nothing alike, and are much better, but most restaurants don't care about tradition and sell the commercial version of the dishes. This is true of many dishes you will try unfortunately, but papanași is the most extreme example of altering a recipe.

You found langos outside of Germany? Spoiler alert! Langos is a Hungarian word, so why are you so surprised to find it in a region with Hungarian influences. It is very common in Transylvania, you can find it even in the smallest towns. On the other hand, I like the fact that finally you finally admit that our"sister" countries form Western EU regard us as second-hand European citizens. I am grateful that you showed them the opposite and thank you for that. Just show them that we are civilised, we are not savages , and we like being part of the EU. Danke!
"They even have Langos here". bro langos is an eastern European food. It was invented in Hungary and introduced to Germany, from Eastern Europe, not the other way around.
@@tamasollar4889 Transylvania was never part of Hungary. It was an independent state inhabited by Romanians (native to Transylvania), with Hungarians and Germans forming a minority in the region. Transylvania rightly belongs to Romania, and moreover, langos may have its roots in Hungary (although this is controversial) but it is not Hungarian any more than French fries are French.

Also Hermanstadt gave our president Klaus Iohannis who IS german and the mayor of the city is also german Astrid Fodor just like the mayor of Temeschwar Dominic Fritz
About the flags... we don't usually have them up everywhere at all times, just for about 2 months, from the middle or end of November until the latest in February, or whenever they decide to take down the public holiday decorations too. And the reason for that is the National day on Dec 1st.(The Great Union), but also the other national celebration on Jan 24 (aka The "Small" Union or The Principalities Union).

Romanian sausages taste like no other, hopefully you got a good one for that incredible price. I'm old enough to remember paying 10 cents for one, and I'm not that old.
The 1st of December is the national day of Romania, that's why you saw so many flags. You made a historical mistake, the Anglo Saxons lived in the 5th century and settled in England. The settlers in Transylvania were Germans or Sachsen and came in the 12th century to this region. They founded 7 German cities, like Herrmanstadt, Kronstadt, Klausenburg. Transylvania became a part of the Austrian empire till the end of the the first WW when this empire disintegrated. The architecture in these cities are proof of that. In Mediasch you can see Margaret's Church and tower from the 12 th century. A German church. The food is really good in Transylvania and the climate as well. Whatever season you choose, it will be a pleasant experience for you. Bucharest was called Little Paris and there was a time during the reign of one of the kings when French was spoken by the rich. Today there are no shootings or stabbings on the streets like in the west. It is a misconception to call a country uncivilised because it was under a communist regime. That was the ideology of the 20th century but until then, Romania had it's own history and culture.

Nice old Hungarian city! :)
Sibiu is really nice and clean!
Our favorite city in the Balkan region 👍🏼

Romania is great!
Defiantly a country worth visiting!
Excellent video
Your welcome! 🙏🏼
Thank you for showing my hometown. I am Romanian, born and bred in Sibiu. You even showed one of my German schools at minute 1:06. Danke schön!
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoy

They were not Anglo Saxons, they were Saxons.
Thanks for sharing! We definitely want to check out more of the Country!
Iasi to or Sinaia or Craiova ^^
He just mentioned half of Hungary 🤭
Salutate românaşilor cu coloanǎ 👋🏻
So all the cities from the Hungarian Kingdom (1000-1920)... Can you mention finally some really romanian city, not just these stoled ones?
My favourite romanian city is Craiova....
@@zingwibrothers This is not the country, this is Transylvania (part of Hungary from 1000-1920). If you want to see Romania check the romanian cities: Bucharest, Craiova, Constanta, Iasi....
1 December îs the natinal day în România!
That makes sense ! 😅🇷🇴
@@zingwibrothers That's why you saw so many flags, later they will be removed,of course.
Besuchsempfelung: Sighisoara, Salina Turda, Peles Castle !
For food try eggplant salad, carp roe salad, tripe soup, beef soup, bean and pork soup. For desert try Savarina, Amandina, Carpati.
Well, in USA you see their flags on almost every building and not only on the National Day… 😛 Great video guys, I really enjoyed it!
Haha true! Glad you enjoyed !
You visited the city in the period whe we have the National Day 1st of December, that's why everywhere you saw the National Flag. But you have right, we are awaiting very proud nation!
România uber alles‼️😁
Aigh, you're welcome in Chișinău (R. Moldova) too!
But I highly recommend Oradea, especially if you want to stay longer in România.
Thanks for sharing! How long do you think should you stay in Moldova as a tourist ?
@@zingwibrothers I guess it depends on your interests; there are a few beautiful places in nature (but can't compare to Romania). But in winter it's a bit sketchy to come here, kind of depressing, but in March everything starts to get beautiful again. :)

Romania is actually a very safe country, I think you've heard probably about the corruption, not criminality.
but maybe we do not have a good reputation because of some romanians that work across the board

Are you heading twords Brasov during this Romania trip also?
Not exactly Brasov but we maybe plan to go to a similar area around
Free WiFi is an EU project (WiFi4EU). But yes, the internet is very good in Romania, which is why many programmers come here to work.
Yeah it’s incredible, and everywhere is free WiFi
the flags ware everywhere, because it was the national day of the country
3 weeks befoe
Romania is beautiful!
Defiantly!
Birtan or Birthelm is also near Sibiu , better yet Madiaş also a lot of German/Sachsen influences. You can try the pickles in Romania are much more tastier than in Germany.
Haha what is the best pickeled vegetable in Romania?
Everything, even the cabbage, what the locals do, not from supermarkets. Try to find a family that still prepare their own pork for holidays and when they do the dinner from the fresh meat they usually serve pickled cabbage with it, from a wooden barrel if it’s traditional, at least in Transylvania.
You bought the hats at a good price guys.
Papanasi as dessert after food
That looks amazing, we saw it with Nutella and jam which is better?
@@zingwibrothers blueberries jam and sour cream is the best!!!
We love & we are proud of our country, yes, we love to display our red, yellow & blue flag.
try Brasov as next destination^^ 150km from Sibiu✌
Yes we plan to go in summer again, then Brasov is definitely on the list!
@@zingwibrothers eeeh summer...go now!! it;s Christmas time!!😆
The flags are up because 1 December is our national day 🙂
Hi nice video. My mum was from Sibiu, which is actually a german city, its original name is Hetmannstadt
But they were not anglo saxons, but rather from lower saxony.
Probably you would also enjoy Brasov and Cluj Napoca, and another Transylvanian towns such as Timisoara, Oradea, Deva, Sighisoara, Alba Iulia, etc
Thanks for Sharing! We unfortunately skipped Braşov and went directly to Sibiu, but we will definitely visit Cluj Napoca and some towns in the region!
you were in SIBIU in our National DAY , so is normal to see ROMANIAN flag
the food was more cheap few years ago, but neverendless war in ukraina has gone a huge impact on romanian life level. So, fellow germans, stop this war faster.

Good food recommendations - sarmale, tigaie pikante, tokiture cu memeligutse, papanash, cholan cu fasole.

Tolles Video, danke Jungs. Kleiner Tipp: Nächstes Mal einfach mal auf Deutsch bestellen. Fast jeder dort versteht oder spricht deutsch. 🙂
Have been watching your videos for a while. All excellently done with infectious smiles, charm and humour. Shall appreciate if you can share details of accommodation available in Sibiu. If it is hostel accommodation, all the better. We are two senior citizens from Bombay (India) planning to visit Romania in mid-April 2025. And also best route of reaching Sibiu from Bucharest. 1st of december is the national day in Romania, so everywhere in the country you'll see the flags hanging in the cities!

ORADEA guys! You have to visit Oradea, is on the border with Hungary so just on your way home 🏠 🎊
Danke!
You’re welcome! Thanks for sharing we didn’t know that!
There are a lot of flags on the streets because The December 1st is the celebration of Romania's National Day. ❤Romania❤
"They even have Langos here". bro langos is an eastern European food. It was invented in Hungary and introduced to Germany, from Eastern Europe, not the other way around.
Good to know, thanks for sharing!
Lángos is Hungarian food, and that is in Transylvani because Transylvania was Hungarian from tje Xth century untill the XX. century....

Which football team do you support in Germany ? I am a big fan of Bayern München.
We are from Stuttgart so VFB👍🏼
Guys if you are german let me educate you as romanian. Sibiu is called in german Hermanstadt, and Transilvania in german is Siebenbürgen. Also Hermanstadt gave our president Klaus Iohannis who IS german and the mayor of the city is also german Astrid Fodor just like the mayor of Temeschwar Dominic Fritz
Cool thanks for sharing!!
The 1-st of December is our National Day,then comes Christmas, then the New Year,so the flags stay till january when all this crazieness ends.haha

That was the ideology of the 20th century but until then, Romania had it's own history and culture.
we are waiting When will you come to India Lots of love from India
