@roundlake96 take the train from Bucharest up to Sinaia and see Peleș castle! It's much more worth it than Bran (Dracula's castle), and from there you can take the train again to Brașov which is a lovely city. I don't know about where you could swim though 🤔, somewhere in the mountains would probably do, hopefully someone else can help you and I hope you have fun!
@ Ah, thank you so much for these tips, friend! I'm a huge history nerd, especially when it comes to castles and churches, so this sounds right up my alley! :D
Unfortunately, an enormous swath of historic Bucharest was leveled by the Ceausescus. Over 200 cobblestoned streets and tens of thousands of epic villas vanished 1980-1989. Bucharest is a shadow of what it once was--and could be.
"Shadow" is a little bit too much. There are a lot of old buildings left in a dismay state of repair. Better fix those first. And the communist blocks have pretty decent apartments.
You can tell they’re young because that kid straight up said he wants to go to London or New York to be part of the film industry as if it’s as easy as opening a bag of crisps
Yeah, but when I was young I thought the same about everything. Just go do it. Sometimes it worked out, sometimes it didn't. Wouldn't trade it for anything.
This is not representative for the average Bucurestean at all. Most people live in depressing and old apartament buildings whose value is far below the house she’s living in. The average neighbourhood around here is also much shittier. Besides, people drive relatively old cars nowhere near the Range Rover shown in the video, if they have a car at all. Next time, please show more respect for the locals and present a more representative, authentic and less skewed view of the reality that most people live in.
@@clarasoare of course they get sick of it, but why show something that it's not representative? Of course, life in Romania gets better, so poverty is not the right word to use to describe it.
@@dweuromaxx this is so biased, thank you for showing the top 1% and not the average 99. How representative is this? Those kids heavy a higher social background. In terms of gross minimum wage in economy, Romania has the third lowest minimum wage in EU27. Romania exhibits notable differences in salary levels between urban centers and rural areas. Major cities like Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, and Timisoara offer higher salaries due to the concentration of economic activity and job opportunities. In urban centers, the average monthly salary can range from 8,000 to 10,000 RON, providing residents with a relatively comfortable standard of living. Conversely, rural areas often experience lower average salaries, typically ranging from 3,000 to 6,500 RON per month. The brain drain in Romania is very large (even they say it, who want to leave). Its population has fallen from 23.2 million in 1990 to 19 million today. According to Eurostat figures, the overall number of resident permits issued to non-EU nationals for employment reasons reached a record high of 31,079 in 2022, up from only 1542 in 2013. In the whole of the EU, only Croatia and Malta saw biggest increases in the period. Non-EU workers moved to Romania from countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Philippines. Once in Schengen, this workforce will have absolutely no restriction of travelling abroad and getting a job [which is] better paid, be it in Hungary, Germany or France. So this image presented here is not representative at all of Romania, but a feel good moment
Very Disappointing! It did not show anything about Bucharest only the revolution square because as always when the News always give thi equation: Romani=bloody revolution and the execution of Ceausescu. And Gelato as a typical Romania dessert? Seriously? It did not show Caru Ci bere the lipscani area Haerastu park neither the Parli Palace only a very fast panoramic view Really awkward
Well, the Balkan Peninsula is in Europe. So is part of Russia for example. Near East may mean different things depending where you are on the globe. If you mean culturally, well technically speaking, all the Western culture has its roots in a Balkan country. You may have heard of it, it's called Greece. It may help you if you start reading stuff, ideally stuff that have facts and not whatever it is you are reading that it teaches you such nonsense that the Balkans are not Europe.
Romanians learned from the Soviet people to steal and it seems they loved it. The Soviet union Red Army left Romania around 1959 and Romania never had Soviet military bases on it's territory. Romanian military under foreign command (mainly Soviet Ukraine) was your ally Stalin organization and finished with him. And from where are they ruled now?
@eedragonr You do not need to occupy a country to control its politics and economics. Right now they mostly rule themselves, but things have changed dramatically this year because of what has happened in the US. Their politicians and business leaders probably understand this, but does the average Romanian? Probably not.

🟢 Hello from Bucharest, Romania - a huge underrated city in Europe:) Romania is the second biggest economy in Central-Eastern Europe after Poland.
Unfortunately, an enormous swath of historic Bucharest was leveled by the Ceausescus. Over 200 cobblestoned streets and tens of thousands of epic villas vanished 1980-1989. Bucharest is a shadow of what it once was--and could be.
Still plenty of historic stuff to see in Bucharest, though.

Great city, though I prefered Brasov when I moved to Romania last year.
Brasov is much better than Bucharest, in my opinion. I lived in both cities and Brasov is my favourite, by far.
I am impressed of the quality of the subtitles ❤
Now show us how the average young person in Bucharest lives, as this is upper middle class. Most Romanians would dream of having a house like that...
