- Finally, after 2 months I have some new footage! Here we have the brand new Class 730 for West Midlands Railway at Liverpool on driver training duties. These units will not only run for WMR, but London Northwestern Railway between Liverpool and London Euston.
Probably the nicest aventras.
I agree
It’s nice to see these trains will have a spacious 2+2 arrangement. Much better then the class 323 and 350/2s they will replace. And they look like the greater anglia seats which may mean they will be comfortable
I wasn’t really sure what to make of the seats. I think I prefer the 350’s still
I saw one pass through Galton bridge !
Looks much better than I expected! SCR doesn’t do it justice lol.
Definitely not lol
@@Wirralspotter yeah lol
SCR needs to make the mesh model of this thing now, it looks so much better than I expected!!!
Good to see you can walk through the carriages with out doors in the way
I like the look of them
I agree 👍
Nice Video and they really look the part, will be great to see them in BNS.
Thank you! I think they are one of the best looking new trains
Nice gangways. Ah the aventras. The 720s seem to be the best of the bunch so far, we shall see how good these ones are.
I hope they’ll be good. I think they’re the best looking ones
@@Wirralspotter I agree, they look like electrostars and the livery looks super nice on them. I suppose we will have to see if they deliver, but I think they will.
Nicest Aventra so far!
I can't wait to ride then when they are in service
Me neither! Not sure when it is but hopefully it’ll long
I wouldn’t mind but they are replacing perfectly fine 323s even though they’ve just spent thousands of pounds refurbishing them
The Oragne Livery at the Car ends, matches those of the doors, the visually impaired will get confused and possibly fall between the ends of the carriages, a poor livery, a redesign of livery may be required for disability regs.
Nice, I like how you took pictures of the Trains
Yeah. I am thinking of adding any photos I take into my videos
I pass Tyseley in Birmingham daily and there are at least a dozen sets of these there now
They'll be 196s not 730s unless they've put up wires overnight
@@dpjones1 I realised my mistake not long ago both sets looking to be in service by autumn they say
Seems strange that Greater Anglia didn’t go for gangways on their aventras given that they’re normally going to be operated in pairs.
Yeah that would be a great idea.
They can't - GA suburban services are driver only operated and have been since NSE days, so they're asked nicely to have wide windscreens by the unions.
It's nice that wmr have a selection of new trains
Definitely!
Modern!!
Cool! I can't wait to see these whenever I'm around
Thanks!
@@Wirralspotter no problem mate
InstaBlaster...
All Of you guys asking when it will be in service its around July-september time
It's now November 2022 and they still aren't in service. Just hope they don't replace the 8-car 350s on the Liverpool - Birmingham or the Crewe - London services with a single 5-car 730.
Supposed to be starting soon I head. Possibly before the end of the year
That should be good. I just hope the reality of these new trains isn't a disappointment like some others have been with the usual rock hard seats, seats so close you need new knees when you get off the train. Many looked forward to the IET 800 series until they actually travelled on them. Hopefully also the 777s may be in service soon on the Kirkby branch.
Smart. I am so jealous of people in the midlands and the south who get proper new trains, unlike us in the north who got some cheap Spanish built crap.
I love it can't wait to go on it
Nice work..
Thanks
I think they'll be an improvement over the 323, im looking forward to riding them
Yeah me too.
I will miss the 323s when they go
@@arnoldspottingvideos5269 Yeah they’re decent units
@@Wirralspotter I think the 323s are moving to Northern railway
@@arnoldspottingvideos5269 17 WMT 323 sets are confirmed to be moving to Northern once the WMT 323s are replaced by class 730/0s.
Though there are rumours that all 26 WMT 323 sets will cascade to Northern, this has however not been confirmed.
Why are the LNWR and WMR ordering these trains? Their train fleet is still quite new, like you got the turbostars, desiros which are quite new and the 323s are not too old yet. There seems to be a trend where TOCs replace loads of trains (including modern units) for no reason.
For the 350s only the 350/2 will be replaced, which are the 3+2 seating stock originally designed for short hop commuter services like the 323, though i disagree with replacing them really. No sense. But the 323s i can see why. Almost 30 year old trains and WMR only operate like 26 sets. 730s will allow for like double the capacity with 48 sets 3 car units for the chase line and the cross city line.
i like how it doesnt have WMR logos on untill they've decided they want them putting on
Yeah I like that too. Same with Merseyrail’s 777’s
This train is in WMT livery and will eventually move back to the West Midlands and have West Midlands Train on the side with the WM badge, LNWR trains are in a green silver grey livery
Looks something like 250 seats per 3-car unit? kind of hard to count through the windows
Well there definitely the cross city line new trains as their 3 coaches and their being bunch of them in the tysley depot and the new planned feature to let people use up all the train instead of 2 separate trains
In case you don’t know what the cross city line is it is the line that goes from Redditch/Bromsgrove to litchfield
Oh dear, I’m getting plastic mommy look!
😂
Nice!
Thanks
The Class 730 Aventra looks similar to the Class 350 Desiro. Because of the Gangway corridor.

Yeah they do. Pretty much more modern Desiros
@@Wirralspotter Indeed.
I subbed to you mate
Thank you very much 😁
The aventras are so so quiet omg 😭😭
They really are
Ugh yet more aventras. These are decent though. Still dont understand their logic behind replacing the 350/2s....
Tbh I don’t like the 350/2’s, so I’m glad they’re going, and am looking forward to these taking their place
@@Wirralspotter But they aren't even that old yet so I dont understand why. The 319s and the 323s even I can somewhat understand.
I have a theory: In manufacturers trying to make the trains look cool and futuristic, they make an ugly beast out of them. Don't believe me? Look at the class 196.
I suppose in some cases yes but the 730 looks very good I think
The trains look nice but the livery is awful.
I disagree to be honest I like WMR’s livery
