Bought a '98 Civic coupe from a customer. Weak head gasket, but clean. Did the head gasket, had the head re-done, replaced all the consumable parts (starter, alternator, hoses, filters, idler pulleys, tensioners, fuel pump), put in a head unit, did the brakes at all corners, tires, serviced the gearbox, had the AC serviced. Made $3500 on it, sold before I even finished it and it needed nothing. It is still going, I sold that car 6 years ago
I bought a 2006 Accord perfect shape 1000 bucks . Blown head gasket. Didn't want to fool with it . Bought a low mileage engine . Went ahead and replaced clutch, throw out bearing and flywheel . Got a perfect car for under 2000 . 30 MPG, I'M HAPPY .
Buy a car for $400 and, even if you spent $3-4,000 getting it to run and drive decently, you are still far ahead of the game! Any new car would de appreciate more than that when you drove it off the lot!
I picked up a 94 accord for 500 six years ago rebuilt the front end and put in a few new gaskets been my daily since it has 277,340 miles on it and i love it
Nice purchase! I had one about 10 years ago as a company/pool car. Basic 1.4 poverty speck one at that. drove the absolute nuts off of it as did most of my workmates. it finally died at close to 300k on the clock and it was corrosion that finally saw it off. you really cant kill a Honda.
That's a much better deal than what I got! I found an Arctic Cat 400 4x4 4-wheeler that looked decent and only paid $400 for but ended up rebuilding the entire engine, taking all plastics off to clean layers of dirt off the chassis, transmission modification, LCD screen repair, etc only thing that has not been through is the front and rear diff housings (except changing the fluid) all in I probably got a little under $2000 total in it however, I completely rebuilt the thing and it is literally a brand new 4-wheeler. What I have learned is that the cheapest things on Facebook Marketplace are sometimes the most expensive things!
Man I like that blue one and it's interior more. Auto sucks but comfortable on longer drives. Guess Im looking at the reselling aspect as that's pretty much what I do with cars. Seems like the black car is going to work for what you need, love it when a guy can score a good deal and it turns out to be easy fixes because it's usually a big fix on these cheap cars.
Good thing u bought the manual 5 speed the years 2000-2003/2004 with the automatic transmission failed prematurely around 100-130k miles! Costing more then the cars value by that point
Nice video Ike. Hope you get the air working again, the fender replaced, and everything painted up nice. Definitely prefer the stick over the automagical.
Any car that runs and drives is worth $400 all day long. It being a Honda is just the cherry on top because we all know how good Hondas of that vintage are.
I worked for Honda a few years ago and grabbed a blue 5 speed of the same car for 500 right off the lot. Was the first engine I blew up and rebuilt myself and I honestly loved that thing so much. Quick, great on gas, and a blast to drive. Your Gunna enjoy that thing and I can't wait to see the progress. Cheers brother
Do you paint your own cars? Glad to hear about getting more parts for the 1957 Chevrolet! Love all of your videos, can't wait to see you in the next one!
Isaac It's not a bad looking Honda. The bumper fits like a glove and I bet the fender will match up perfectly. A little rattle can action will make it look good!
Working on european/asian cars on belts etc: remove tire and inner wheel liner (spatbordbeschermer). Defrost/condens: open windows slightly. Whe are used to clean the window with a plastic scratcher to take the ice of. Other means/ways: put a cover (cartboard/plastic) over your window. We learn not to run engines idle for a long time. Most of our cars already have a start/stop system. Stops the engine when waiting for a traffic light and starts up when you pull up. Try to find a haynes workshop manual, explains how to wrench on these cars. Once you get used to the way ,,the other part of the world,,😂😉 put cars toghetter you l be fine. Gives all hidden bolts and pushpins etc.
i work on a lot of these cars and i took a old socket cut a slit in it to fit the wing nuts works great . must of them year models has a blow head gasket i buy the cheap and make good money on resale. keep up the good work ike love the videos
nice rig that'll get you 40 mpg highway i bet. the blue one didnt look bad either. what was wrong with that one if you dont mind me asking. me personally the auto trans is a turnoff lol
I have a Buick LeSabre 2003 limited I just put 3,500 into it . New ignition module and coils,New rack and pinion, coil over conversion on the rear and New struts. Got about 5,000 total in it . And 140,000 Miles on it.
The usual....keep clean oil in it, no orange oil filters. Don't let it run hot or you will be doing a head gasket or worse. For daily driving stay off the drag strip. Unless you build them for that purpose. Don't flog a stock Honda, they will do it but you're asking for trouble. I know all the Honda people are going to argue..... A steal of a deal. Better than a Chevette.....LOL! Cheers Terry
Excellent Video Issac :) think did great deal black Honda Civic car also blue one for parts fix up too! I say bit spary bombs of primer then paint with midnight black paint too and one clear coat touch up like new again ! Plus try 50 % of Hot water and 50% vinegar mix together washer up headlights plastic clear lens do couple times and helps out! Nice got 2 vechiles sold and plus nice amount cash both also got more parts for 1957 car too horray !
Good deal great score on the Honda. Hell cost 100 bucks a day for a rental vehicle. Take on some trips n it has paid for it self. Always enjoy how your seasoned mechanical abilities always shine through. Great video why don’t these idiots put up and sponsor you
I have a last year CRX a 91 if you ever find a EG or EG or 👉 A Sought After (EF) buy it.ive been into civics for 🤔 about 15 years maybe a couple more.gave a like as always ✌️
Isaac thanks Sir for clearing up the Abandoned car situation. Everytime you turn around' Somebody on RUclips Lying About some abandoned car they working on. Ahhh it be A Few' like one out of every 1000 are really abandoned.🙄
If you end up getting a new grill for it, the ones on amazon dont fit properly. I have the 4 door version of that car and apparently it is very common for the b16a2 motor to have a head gasket problem where it puts bubbles into the radiator forcing coolant into the overflow and overheating. I drove it like that for months by putting coolant in it before driving and burping the system but with my long commute I couldnt go over 3000 RPM or it would overheat before getting to work.
2000-2004 automatic were tragic issues but the manuals were pretty solid bullet prof! My 2002 with trans drain/fill (never flushed) every 30k with Honda ATF still failed at 130k miles and Hondas law suit extended it to 125k from their 100k miles and wouldn’t replace my trans even tho I was 5k miles past their limit! Wanted 5k USD for a reman so I sold it as is!
It is worth it. Hondas require work as general maintenance, hell, the valve adjustment is only 3000 miles. Left alone it'll run like crap forever, give it juice and parts and it's an amazing machine again.
Theres a V V Tsolenoid on the back side of the head on the passenger side. The gasket has a screen. Cut out the screen and change the oil. The vvt will work better and it will get closer to 40mpg. If that screen clogs up it wont operate correctly and will hinder the v v t
I wonder if the AC compressor pulley is better on the parts car? Might be worth a look? Also, dont forget the clutch. You said it wasnt that great earlier in the video.
I've always wanted to take a front wheel drive running gear and build a rail buggy with that running gear. Since you build stuff like that anyway that might be an idea for you.
What happen to the GMC Envoy? When will you be working on your 57 again? Also do you have anything else that you would like to sell that doesn't need much work? Have a great day sir and looking forward to the next video
Do you know these (cigarette)lighters with the blue flame? You can use one of those to melt the surface of the glass of the headlight and it will look brand new again! You could do this a littlebit faster by using a little bit bigger flame, but if you bring in too much heat too fast the glass will crack! Better take your time and use a small flame! Might take you an hour, maybe even more. But I don't know what such a headlight costs in the US and what you get paid per hour in your daily job, but with 1 hour it could look brand new again, without taking it of the car and without going somewhere to buy another one. (And start in a corner, not in the middle, to check if this actually works with your headlight.)
Can't go wrong with a Honda, so long as it's not a ragged-out ricer, and a fun fact about Hondas is a lot of surviving 80s and 90s Rovers over here are often the ones with Honda powertrains (just ignore all the rustholes!!), cos the Rover K-series engines just love to blow headgaskets and overheat, resulting in a big ol' rusty lemon... :P
Instead of changing the complete A/C compressor, could you get away with just replacing the clutch? Your A/C compressor clutch includes the pulley and bearing, and is electromagnetically actuated to engage the compressor. When the A/C is not engaged, it simply acts as an idler pulley.
Funny this video came up my 2011 chevy cruze is making some noise similar and i know the compressor had been bad but pretty sure the bearing has started making noise recently
Bought a '98 Civic coupe from a customer. Weak head gasket, but clean. Had a 7th gen too but be sure to keep an eye on those lower balljoints cuz itll make you're car KACHOW like cars
Bro for 400 bucks a AC bearing was the issue with routine your good for 150 200 thousand more miles guaranteed. Good Score Isaac 👍
Those Toyota echos last forever! My Yaris was great! Til I got rear ended!😢 $30 would fill that 10 gal tank and get me 450-480 miles to a tank!
Buy a car for $400 and, even if you spent $3-4,000 getting it to run and drive decently, you are still far ahead of the game! Any new car would de appreciate more than that when you drove it off the lot!
YES!
Great deal and a great little car!
i just bought a 2004 honda civic ex coupe 5 speed for $2500 and rebuilt the trans myself. You got a good deal man.
Hope it is a good car for you. These little Civics run just about forever with reasonable maintenance.
those generation civics are my favorite.
I picked up a 94 accord for 500 six years ago rebuilt the front end and put in a few new gaskets been my daily since it has 277,340 miles on it and i love it
Heck yeah. Got you a great little vehicle. Great video
Super little machine buddy, well done

I like the Civic 🎉
thanks for sharing and taking us along.
I rented a new Civic not long ago and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm going to try to rent it again. I got it through Turo.
Way to go score on the 400 dollar Honda. tip trick spray some clear on the head light lens it will make it look brand new
I think you did good. Maybe your parts car has the A/C compresser you need to fix this one. Just a suggestion. Thanks for the video. See you later.
Man I like that blue one and it's interior more. Auto sucks but comfortable on longer drives. Guess Im looking at the reselling aspect as that's pretty much what I do with cars. I've owned 5 civics in my time. Easy to work on. Great gas mileage. Nice one, brother!🫵👍✌️
The yellow vet in the background is the best 👍👍👍💯
I like that you end every video with the clip of your father.
Good thing u bought the manual 5 speed the years 2000-2003/2004 with the automatic transmission failed prematurely around 100-130k miles! Costing more then the cars value by that point
And love the Chevy in the background nice 👌
I just bought a 2006 civic for 500 bucks. Runs and drives need some love, but it’s been a good car so far.
Another good purchase sir ..I like the blue bumper with the rest of it black, gives it character ...
Not to get me wrong. You got a hell of a deal. I was just venting on my girl's clean ability😮
I worked for Honda a few years ago and grabbed a blue 5 speed of the same car for 500 right off the lot. Was the first engine I blew up and rebuilt myself and I honestly loved that thing so much. They will steal these In philadelphia. An it's a stick!!!❤ great find!!!
Now days a stick is a theft deterrent 😂
Do you paint your own cars? Glad to hear about getting more parts for the 1957 Chevrolet! Love all of your videos, can't wait to see you in the next one!
Not a bad deal, should give you a few more years of service and save you a few dollars on gas in the process.
24:11 That square body is gorgeous!
Nice find! 👍
First comment! Hopefully worth that in scrap alone! Love your videos man!

Great commuter car /dally driver
Nice little Honda
Thank goodness that sweet Chevette is still waiting for your magic.
Friday!!! Best day of the week!! Have a good weekend ike!
Good score Ike! I don't mind the 2 part videos. Does the donor have a good A/C pump?
nice rig that'll get you 40 mpg highway i bet. the blue one didnt look bad either. what was wrong with that one if you dont mind me asking. me personally the auto trans is a turnoff lol
Im not sure what was wrong with the blue one
These 7th gens are good cars.
I like these a lot.
Cousin had one of these in silver, last seen in '07.
isaac ,fyi ,i started using stainless steel cable ties for a lot of things ,looks like a good car ,happy trails .
I have a Buick LeSabre 2003 limited I just put 3,500 into it . New ignition module and coils,New rack and pinion, coil over conversion on the rear and New struts. Got about 5,000 total in it . And 140,000 Miles on it.

You got a great deal for that Civic. AC compressor is what, $150? Looking forward to seeing one of your 57's get finished!
If you end up getting a new grill for it, the ones on amazon dont fit properly.

I had an 04 Civic Manual from new. Loved that car. Sad I sold it. It just worked.
i would LS swap it but thats just me. keep up the good work dude, P.S. is john battery powerd or do you have to wind him up?
2000-2004 automatic were tragic issues but the manuals were pretty solid bullet prof! This Old Man from Washington NC thinks you are amazing in your finds 😮. Another great video Ike❤️. Always looking forward to the next one. 🛵🧔💝
Use some Mother's & a soft brush on a drill or a buffer on the headlights to take any yellowing off
I wonder if the AC compressor pulley is better on the parts car? Might be worth a look? Also, dont forget the clutch. You said it wasnt that great earlier in the video.
I actually enjoy these new is it worth it videos
Once you get all the parts you need off your parts car to make this one look nice again you never know if they ever was right😊
I've always wanted to take a front wheel drive running gear and build a rail buggy with that running gear. Since you build stuff like that anyway that might be an idea for you.
13:00 minutes.=Front lower control arm bushing is torn. Great buy Isaac. It'll save you allot of gas this winter, and you'll have good tunes ;)
What a great deal. Be sure to pay it though black isn't very To match
seen a honda car other day here in south carolina an a bumper sticker said my honda identifys as a toyota
Replace the fender, polish the headlights, and do some paint. That will be a great part 2 video
Turbo , enter cooler bigger injectors all kinds of bolt ons be a cool street daily
Watch the head gasket on that and stay up to date on oil changes. Those d17 engines will explode and blow gaskets left and right.
22:15 Keep in mind that is an interference fit motor you’re gonna have to change the timing belt very soon if it hasn’t been done already
Can show the painting process as very interesting in learning something
What happen to the GMC Envoy? When will you be working on your 57 again? Also do you have anything else that you would like to sell that doesn't need much work? Have a great day sir and looking forward to the next video
Still have the envoy. Ill be working on the 57 soon
Check engine lights prob an easy 02 sensor the one up on the manifold is known to go bad.
(Upper 02 sensor)
If you take some off mesquito spray with a lint free cloth and wipe the linens down till it becomes clear !
And the 57 update as well come on Isaac speed it up 🤣
You need to get another small house or condo closer to John so you don't have to drive so much. You can go to the regular house on the weekends..
Hell you got more than $400 in parts so if its not worth fixing strip it down and sell the parts online. Since it runs you got a steal on that car.
Do you know these (cigarette)lighters with the blue flame?

Great score.Do a junk yrd wlk around wld be cool 😎
just picked up one also for cheap. known as the em2 7th gen. needed headgasket as the typical d17s do.
get some rustolum turbo black.. and paint the bumper\fender\hood .. cheap and easy.. sand down the head lights and clear them.
That gen Civic goes forever. Love em, good buy. But don't gaslight us like you haven't already looked at the thing before you bought it.
Seriously I took a quick glance and bought it
About time for a Honda car project… #staymad
MAKE A ANNOUNCEMENT WHEN YOU GO TO SELL IT. LOL
I was going to say you'll have an A/C compressor on the parts car! It'll be fine! 😜
What about the hood
Can't go wrong with a Honda, so long as it's not a ragged-out ricer, and a fun fact about Hondas is a lot of surviving 80s and 90s Rovers over here are often the ones with Honda powertrains (just ignore all the rustholes!!), cos the Rover K-series engines just love to blow headgaskets and overheat, resulting in a big ol' rusty lemon... :P

That toyota echo was also a car that could be great for your commute every day. Cheap eco car
Funny this video came up my 2011 chevy cruze is making some noise similar and i know the compressor had been bad but pretty sure the bearing has started making noise recently
it will be fine
7:01 throwout bearing possibly is bad
Hell yeah brother nice 🎉
Shoulda grabbed the a compressor from the parts car too?
