back then kids didn't say "inclusion" they didn't care about this many this or that, they thought of everyone as friends (in the 70s) it was the adults that messed up the lives of kids .
I remember _much_ of Zoom with great distinction and affection. Indeed, just last week I stumbled upon the episode in which Nina sang her song "It Began in March, it Ended in May." I hadn't seen it since I was a child and I still recalled it with clarity. Also, nearly anytime I hear the word "Zoom" I hear it in my mind as "Za-boom," à la Nina :-).
I'm younger than the 70s version. I grew up with the 90s reboot. But I was always annoyed they never showed the old zoom. I always wanted to see it. I've watched some of the old zoom available online. And it's very different for sure. But still a fascinating watch.
I'm in my late 50's now and I definitely watched Zoom as a kid. I remember any kid in school who wore a striped rugby shirt would get teased for wearing a Zoom shirt....lol. l loved this show, especially the theme song which is now stuck in my head thank you very much. "We're gonna zoom-a, zoom-a, zoom-a, zoom".
Me, too! We were the perfect age for this show, those of us who turned 6 or 7 in 1972, because the youngest of the cast was 7 years old, so we literally grew up with the cast year to year. Approximately 7 years of age is the beginning of abstract thought for the human brain, which means we start to have thoughtful opinions, and really start to think about things and want to talk about things. This show was absolute magic for us! ❤
I attended private Catholic school so we were school uniforms all the time, expect for free days. I harassed my parents to get a rugby shirt and the 1st time I wore it, it sent a ripple effect through my schools and most of the kid's parents then bought them the same shirt from Woolworth's. - 05/31/2024.
Something made me think of ZOOM yesterday. Don’t know what. Don’t know how. Don’t know why. Whatever led me down this path has led me to finding this video and I am very happy about that. Plenty of good memories watching this old program and a reminder of one of my earliest TV crushes, Tracy. Thanks for sharing this.
This brings back the best memories. I lived in Montreal and we got the signal from a station in Plattsburgh. I was 9 my little sister was 7, to be honest, we started watching after we argued and fought, made up, then together agreed, “Well, it either this (ZOOM) or the news, we quickly became devoted fans! It always made my little sister sad when a cast member she grew fond of left the show, then she got used to the new member. I love those memories of my sweet little sister. She was unfortunately taken from my family Dec 18th, 1985 in a car accident, she was 22 years old. I would give anything just to watch 1 episode with her again. It’s funny, I didn’t know my own Postal code but I had/have, the Zip code for ZOOM, tattooed on my brain, in fact, the whole singing address! just write, ZOOM, at Boston, mass,.0 21 34. Thank for this, Doc
@johnhenderson131 Hi John. I’m so very sorry for the unimaginable loss of your beloved sister. 🙏🏽 I’m so glad that you are even now, comforted, not just by your wonderful, loving, memories of/with her, but how watching Zoom with her,…. laughing,…. having fun, also helped you both, to “reconnect,” after a tiff!! I imagine, that even the tiff, is a wonderful memory!! 😉 In ‘72, My best friend, ( mostly watched with her ), and I were both, 10, my brothers were 7 & 8!! The “funny” (sweet) thing I have in common with you, is that my younger brother, (the middle) who was 7 in ‘72, and I , used to fight A Lot, 🤭 but many TV shows, that we both loved, “ helped us,” to reconnect, including” ZOOM!” There are 3 of us. I’m the eldest, (sister), then J., middle brother, and then, Dan youngest! We are all from Massachusetts, (NH border) and our cable received 2 Boston PBS stations, PBS-WGBH, Ch. 2. and PBS Ch. 19 - WPBX, sometimes, we also got southern New Hampshire Ch. 11 PBS station! So we got to watch the same episode of Zoom, a couple of times a day!! 🤗 Take Care, 🙏🏽 God Bless & know that when you have special memories, of your beloved sister, she’s right there with you, in spirit!! 👼🏼
@@s.t.martin7939 Thank you, I appreciate your kindness. It was natural sibling rivalry, it was okay for me to make my little sister’s life a big brother version of a living hell, but only me! I never let other children mess with my little sister! You and I watched the same PBS station, I guess. I lived near Plattsburgh. Strangely, I lost my brother at around the same time (17). Good to meet you.
Ahhhhhh, who remembers this great show from back in the 1970s after school each afternoon? I loved this show. My cousin even wrote to the show to see if she and my sister and I could be on it. The producers wrote her back and told her that we had to live in the Boston area where the show was filmed (haha). And one evening back then, there was a flamboyant lady who gave a concert of theatrical songs at the First Baptist Church in my little hometown here in Florida, when I was in middle school. She told us during the concert that her husband had written the ZOOM theme song. She also sang a song later on in the concert that had a cuss word in it. I got a little worried at that point, because I thought God was going to send down lightning to set the church on fire, because she had done that. Couldn't she have just said "darn" instead? And she called herself a professional. . . LOL
Happy 50th, golden anniversary to PBS Original Series: ZOOM, which ran from 1972-1978, and happy soon to be 25th (silver) anniversary of the reboot series, which ran from 1999-2006.
I must find the segment where one of the kids on the show crafted some "shoes" out of styrofoam and venetian blinds to allow him to walk across a lake or pond! The most memorable episode for me ever!!!
Yes! I remember that one too! That one and when that kid made a very elaborate tree house with electricity in it. They showed him waking up in it and making eggs for breakfast. Those had to be in the 2nd or 3 season because those were the only 2 I watched. Back when Bernadette was a part of the cast.
I watched Zoom when I was a kid. There were only 4 TV channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, and PBS). I watched Zoom on PBS, but had to fight with my father because he wanted to watch the news 😂 Great memories!!!
This is really neat! While I didn’t grow up with the show (it’s older than my parents as a matter of fact), it’s super awesome to see even now. ZOOM was a great celebration of freedom, friendship, and happiness back in the ‘70s - and it sure was lovely to see kids just being kids, forming lifelong friendships and having a ball! The ZOOMers all had an awful lot of talent, too, and a shared fun-loving attitude - that’s what made the show absolutely amazing and the cast fantastic! I think my favorite cast is from season 4 (1974-75) but all of them are so talented and awesome ❤️
😊I never missed a show in ‘72 until my father secretly sold our house and we didn’t have a tv (nor an outlet to plug one into) anymore. But I remember too clearly sitting in our den/tv room/my father’s office and asking him to *please* , *please* write the ZOOM address down. Even provided pen and paper. Someone had sent in directions on how to make a little raft made of sticks and willow branches to float in and fish from. I wanted to write in and ask for the plans but my father blew up at me and I missed it. But I remember everything of that evening. Even the short film they’d made of building one and putting it in the water. I was 6 in January 1972 and it’s really something to watch episodes this evening and recall how grown-up the ZOOM kids seemed to me then !
Was going on 16 when I first saw Zoom too old to watch Zoom but I enjoyed it and would still enjoy it if it was still on ! WAtched it from 1972 till 1977 then again 1999 to 2005 ! Might be too old to watch it ILl always love Zoom ! I come back from 1972 the start of Zoom !
I was a little guy in the late 70's and I don't remember seeing this show here in Phoenix, AZ. I loved Sesame Street, The Electric Company, and 321 Contact. A coworker said this show was shown here on our PBS station. I'm sorry I missed it.
Wow I watched from Pittsfield MA ((The Berkshires) ! I loved you all. I always wondered how the kids got chosen to be on the show & thought y’all were so lucky to have so much fun together!!! I often wondered over the years what happened to y’all after the show ended. Warmed my heart seeing this! Thank you for being such an important part of my childhood memories!!!! Sending y’all a hug from North Carolina!!! 🌻
In the 1st episode, the Zoom "Play of the Week", "Riddles" was sent in by ZOOMer-to-be, Donna Moore, then living in Newton! Also, one of the 1st season ZOOMers, Tommy White, reminds me of the late Davy Jones of the Monkees!

If you are, a late “baby boomer” and also from Massachusetts, chances are you loved this show!! It was, to most kids, our age especially, “way cooler” than Sesame Street, and def ”Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood,” 😄 My best friend and I, both turned 10 years old in 1972, (going into the fifth grade), and we used to love this show!! One other reason why, is that all of the kids that were on the show, were from Massachusetts, and so were we!! We wanted so much to get on that show, by 13 years old, my friend knew all of the names of the kids that were on the show!! She’d probably still remember their names, I couldn’t tell you one 😂🤣 We used to speak to each other as fast as we could, in “Ubby-Dubby, language, so other people, especially our parents, 😉😂 didn’t know what we were talking about!! 🤣😂 Off to watch the show!! A little nostalgia here, a little reminder there, the innocence, and the memories, bring a smile to my face!! 😊 Looking forward to telling my, now 62-year young, best friend!! 52 years,… Flew by!! Enjoy 😊
Loved watching this and seeing the original cast. I'm 57 now and remember watching ZOOM when I was 7 living in Zion, Illinois. Would love to see all the casts form the early 70's. I have one ZOOM card. It was from a later season, It has Danny on it and it is a description of how to make a model boat out of matchsticks. I still remember the words to the closing song. "Joe doesn't know what he's talking about" and future season 'David doesn't know" Hope I can find the other reunion show and archived episodes.
I was about 9 when the show premiered. I didn't watch the first season when these people were the cast. I do remember Jay, Nancy, Kenny and Tracy. They went on to be a part of the 2nd season cast, when I started watching it..I watched the series until Bernadette wasnt on it anymore. I had a crush on her 😍
OMG. I recall Bernadette. She was Asian, glasses and long hair and she did the arm illusion move that was really popular during that time. I am 62 yrs old. I wanted to be a member of that show so bad. 05/30/2024
I said to myself, "Ain't no way I'm watching the whole hour and 17 minutes"...That didn't age well. What a trip down memory lane. I still have a crush on Nance.
I never grew up on the show, but this show (along with the original electric company, the new mickey mouse club, and Eurovision) is my coping method. My favorite seasons are season 4 and season 5.
NINA...I was born in 70 and saw your episodes in repeat in mid and late 70s... I just loved you like a special big sister and I have extremely pleasent memories of all y'all doing the show as a group of adopted siblings. If you can respond and just say a word or two.. It would be quite a thrill. I sure hope you know JESUS is the Resurection and Only Eternal Life...
I knew Nina was much older than the others. I didn't know Nancy was that young, but then I was six when the show began. I thought the 10 kids (Tommy, Red, Norman, David, Harvey, Andrae, Tishy, Carmen, Tracy and Kate) were the first Zooners.
I'm 57 now and I remember watching Zoom I watched in it on a PBS station OTEA from Oklahoma City and I lived down in the southern part of the state and it came on twice a day in the morning and in the evening the episode of the morning was repeated that evening and it also came on Saturday mornings as well and each season they changed cast members and would introduce their replacements at the end of each season and just when I got used to the cast they would leave and bring in a new kid I was in grade school at the time and I liked Nina and Tracy when they left it made me wanna stop watching but they had some pretty girls in the later seasons but Nina and Tracy and the first season casts were the best and it's hard to believe that watching these old shows of Zoom on RUclips that I was in grade school and now I'm 57 and I guess the first season cast are around the same age as me and I'd love to see Nina and Tracy who I had crushes on.
I really hope the reboot ZOOMers do a live chat for the 50th anniversary. I feel like they and Kate Taylor don’t get enough credit like Chris Sarson and the original ZOOMers do.
I was 8 years old in 1972 zoom was. My favorite show. growing upt Tv. Was all I had to look. Forward to back then mina. Tommy. Kenny. Jay. We'rey best friend's back then
All these kids in the 70s seem more balanced and happier than the kids in 2022. Especially Nina had an incredible appearance and charisma for a 14 year old girl, holy moly. 😳

I saw it once on a rainy afternoon ... didn't get it even though I was the target audience. I thought it was childish and pointless, as well as poorly shot. It didn't look like the movies nor filmed TV shows of the time, but had an Electric Company look and feel. It was not Star Trek nor Matchgame, and really did not interest me. I gave it a chance one overcast and rainy afternoon ... but I did not latch onto it. Such is life for this Star Trek snob. Maybe I should have given it a few more chances ... I don't know, but it really did not appeal to me.
Hello from original audience member to the original cast members. 1/2 century went so quick!
I remember how thrilled I was when I got my Nancy and Kenny cards in the mail. Thanks for being inclusive....Representation matters to kids!!😘
back then kids didn't say "inclusion" they didn't care about this many this or that, they thought of everyone as friends (in the 70s) it was the adults that messed up the lives of kids .
Nina was in my homeroom class in highschool, wonderful personality, great to see her again.
Did she wear her striped shirt to school?

What great memories of this show, that I watched as a 70s kid! So good to see the original cast living their lives all these years later.
I used to love this show as a kid. I'm 62 years old now.
me too. Gonna be 63 in January

I never get bored watching this over and over
I was so in love with Nancy ❤️❤️❤️
I used to loved the old zoomer's 1st season. I was 7 years old at the time and I am now 58 years old.
And I NEVER forgot that address. Never! RIGHT?
Me, too! We were the perfect age for the release of that show. The youngest cast member was 7 years old, just like us!
Awesome celebration. Everybody looks great. The only bummer was that it wasn't a complete reunion with Jon's absence. Hope he's doing well

Who remembers the Zoom guest who built a 7 story treehouse in a Redwood tree?
NINA...I was born in 70 and saw your episodes in repeat in mid and late 70s...
I just loved you like a special big sister and I have extremely pleasent memories of all y'all doing the show as a group of adopted siblings.
If you can respond and just say a word or two..
It would be quite a thrill.
I sure hope you know JESUS is the Resurection and Only Eternal Life...
Zoomers from zoom on zoom
Zoomception! (And i found out about zoom this year, I’m like 11)
-FL
I still call a rugby shirt with red and blue stripes a “Zoom” shirt.
I used to watch zoom still always had days of the zoom I wrote yet not sure if they ever arrived....
I grew up in California and didn't know what "Boston Mass" meant. I thought they were all Catholic.
Kenny is rather interesting the way he expresses himself. Made his own shirt?
Jon: *busy doing plays and stuff*
I never saw Zoom when it originally aired in 1972 or 1999. I was born in 2011!
-FL (I’m a guy)
I knew Nina was much older than the others. I didn't know Nancy was that young, but then I was six when the show began.
I thought the 10 kids (Tommy, Red, Norman, David, Harvey, Andrae, Tishy, Carmen, Tracy and Kate) were the first Zooners.
She was the second oldest. She was 12, Tommy was 13. 😊
Kenny made it yay 😁 and Leon too.
Wow!
Hey!...Tommy I always believed was to for the show, with his deep voice...lol
Great to see y'all!
Just something funny about zoom on zoom
I'm 57 now and I remember watching Zoom I watched in it on a PBS
station OTEA from Oklahoma City and I lived down in the southern part
of the state and it came on twice a day in the morning and in the evening
the episode of the morning was repeated that evening and it also came on
Saturday mornings as well and each season they changed cast members
and would introduce their replacements at the end of each season and
just when I got used to the cast they would leave and bring in a new kid
I was in grade school at the time and I liked Nina and Tracy when they left
it made me wanna stop watching but they had some pretty girls in the later
seasons but Nina and Tracy and the first season casts were the best and
it's hard to believe that watching these old shows of Zoom on RUclips that
I was in grade school and now I'm 57 and I guess the first season cast are around the same age as me and I'd love to see Nina and Tracy who I had
crushes on.
i loved Nancy as a kid lol
I wanted to grow up to be Nina! ❤
Loved this show I had a big crush on Nancy
I had a crush on Tracy and I had a crush on Maura.
I had a crush on Nancy...still do!
I really hope the reboot ZOOMers do a live chat for the 50th anniversary. I feel like they and Kate Taylor don’t get enough credit like Chris Sarson and the original ZOOMers do.
Just now found this video (August 2022). Have any other of the reunion panels been posted to RUclips?
There was one other one with cast members from season 2 and 3. ruclips.net/video/Gu9T1UmRjmQ/видео.html
I wanna know how Kenny doesn't age.
I had a crush on Tracy ..ZOOM!!..
I was 8 years old in 1972 zoom was. My favorite show. growing upt
Tv. Was all I had to look. Forward to back then mina. Tommy. Kenny. Jay. We'rey best friend's back then
I've always liked Nancy from season1
Nancy looks the same!
She looks the same
To bad Jon couldn't join in for some reason.
All these kids in the 70s seem more balanced and happier than the kids in 2022. Especially Nina had an incredible appearance and charisma for a 14 year old girl, holy moly. 😳
I can't find the archives he mentioned or the second reunion show with the other casts. Can anyone help?
Ha! I had a little crush on Joe.
Whatever happened to the bucket of lard?
What is Carmen Hernandez up to these days?
Kenny sounds cocked
The play of the week was hilariously bad! In a good way.
So, Nina Lillie was blind

💭 I think ageism can work both ways.
What the heck was wrong with Kenny? He doesn't sound healthy.
Nothing. He just has a deep voice.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I watched zoom every week , when in the 70's I was around 10. I had a crush on one of the zoom girls , haha.
