Watched Zoom every day in the 70's. I watch episodes on RUclips now and always get a chuckle out of all the young Boston/ Massachusetts accents. Thanks for the memories, folks. Keith from Ashland, Massachusetts
I was 8(1972)at the time and it was one of the few PBS shows I watched, i sent in for cards(wished i saved them)it was very entertaining and I was lucky to be around to see it
Enjoying this content so much… thanks to all involved - watching ZOOM in the early 70s was a great childhood memory and all the Zoomers seem more like old friends or family than just people on TV
I loved all the wgbh shows as a child in the 70's and early 80's. I'm so grateful to have grown up South of Boston with all the benefits we had as kids from local Public television. I would stay home from school and watch Channel 2 & 36 & 44 depending on what kids shows were on and I feel like I got more from doing that than what I got in school. Lot of life lessons in humanity and being yourself as well as helping others. Thanks to all the Zoomers, that address is forever burned in my memory, lol, 02134
ZOOM was probably my most favorite show from ages 7 to about 13. I simply loved it and never missed an episode. I always wished for a ZOOM reunion with the early cast members. THIS IS IT and it's been right here on RUclips for 2yrs and I didn't know it. I still do Bernadette's arm thing and I always looked forward to ZOOM goodies and any time the cast sang or did a dramatic piece. I remember how sad Maura looked on her last show knowing she and others wouldn't be returning for the next season. I was sad too but I was always super excited for the new seasons. I also remember wishing I could be on ZOOM sooooo bad. My mom use to say; "You can't be on that show. ZOOM is for smart kids". 😅😅😅
I was in 2nd grade when your cast was on and watched every show. I remember Ann's film of getting her braces. I remember Leon won the game where you had to eat lemons without making a sour face. I think it's cute how Jay and Bernadette join hands at the end of the opening. I also liked your cast mate David who seemed so happy and full of energy. I remember that Ubbi Dubbi fugue where you were singing on phones throughout the show. And the telephone operator was stressing out. Maybe Nancy played the operator in the skit?
This was an important show for me. I was born in 1966 so I was in the sweet spot. At school all the girls played Miss Merry Mack. I had also remember the Bernadette arm trick at school too. It was a popular show in my little town in New Jersey.
All of you are awesome and I still can see you as that kid on the show. Jay.......A pencil A Pen!!!!!! hahahaha Loved that. Bernadette my sister learned your arm thing back then and can still do it. We called it the butterfly.....also because Zoom was clever enough to put the sound with the move!!!! Kind of a fairy/butterflyish sound!!!!! SO COOL!!!!!!
Lots of love to WNET Channel 13. Zoom aired at 6pm and my mother would let me eat dinner while watching Zoom! The show was diverse way before it became a trend. One night, my father said “They must be from Boston cause that kid (Tommy) sure sounds like it!” My mother responded “If those were New Yawk kids, they would have to be bleeped out!” Love to see the grown up Zoomers do a one shot episode redoing the same skits and songs!
I liked you guys when we were kids, and I still like you all maybe more now. ( I know I have good taste lol) Thank you for this reunion so happy to see you all again. xoxo.
They show a rehearsal on one of these and the Guy on the piano was so kind to all of you and Brought Bernadette and luis's other languages into the songs but did it so normal and so thoughtful and all the kids LOVED IT on the show.
@@thomaswhite3733 Tommy man.....Please thank all the ZOOM gang from this 50 something... you all made our childhoods great in the 70's......The outside times were not perfect in the country but you all made our in homes WONDERFUL and FUN!!!!! I remember my sister got a Zoom Card and we learned ubi Dubi!!!!!! The doodles and the skits SO GREAT!!!!! When you watch do you get that feeling inside EXACTLY of what you felt then doing the show at that time. Because when I think about my sister getting the Ubi DUbi card in the mail and being excited about it and then watchog zoom I literally can feel that same COmfort feeling I had back then. Just Great and I love Bernadette and some others still work with or at GBH!!!!! Best of Times!!!! Love you all. Thanks for the memories. My friends and I inspired by zoom built a hovercraft. We shot footage on super 8 of us riding on it till we crashed it in a lake. Never got the super 8 back.
I absolutely love Ann's story about how she got her audition! That sounds like something I might have tried. Ann was my first childhood crush, and she reigned supreme until Tishy came along. When Tishy appeared with that feathered hair Ann had been gone for a year or two, I was almost 7, and it was time for me to move on. I began combing my hair like Tishy's, my mom could NOT understand this, but within a year or three half the boys in America had that hairstyle. The 70s was a weird and unique time.
I watched at age 8 from season one and on. I watched the reboot when my sons were tweens and was pleased it captured the original feeling. I am curious about the Zoom guests who sent in home movies of hobbies, talents, etc. I remember a girl dressed as an angel “flying” over an Italian Boston street festival. Kids who built a complicated treefort. Kids who roughed it in the woods, caught fish and cooked them sandwhiched between mud over a bonfire. And soooo many more. Kids were independent, clever and inspiring. I wonder if any former Zoom Guests would respond because their lives shaped mine too. Thank you!
Wow Tom, and all my "old friends "! What a beautiful program and you all look fantastic! Every time I hear an old tune and hit from 71-74, and those hits and quality were voluminous, Zoom was in the landscape of my memories,... I was fortunate to be 10 when 72began, with no wish ever to have been any other age. Thanks! I can honestly say especially now, when I see these episodes, I still learn.. Create, love, care, express, humble, in the time where we all need to get back. Question, how many episodes did each cast or group do? Also, how did each member to be replaced, take it?
Bernadette did demonstrate her “arm thing” on the show, and it totally demystified it, so it was never as mysterious, but still quite cool. But it was actually never quite the same after you knew exactly what she did! :D lol!
I was 9 when Zoom came out. I was addicted. I remember each of the Zoomers here as if they are old friends, I grew up in NYC, and my friends and I were bugging our parents to move to Boston so we could try out for Zoom.
Zoom was a phenomenal show. Enjoyed it all. I was actually about 3 years old when originally aired, but as seasons progressed along with reruns to follow, got more understanding of the show as it was entertaining and educational altogether. I liked pretty much everyone on Zoom. I know someone here asked about Neal and glad he's doing very well. Couple people popped up in mind, Rose. Luiz and Danny. How are they doing?

Tommy, thanks for posting this panel! Two questions: 1) Are there any other anniversary panel videos planned? I've seen the first one and the Zoom into Action vids. 2) Why did the show stop straddling casts to bring in what I call the Gang of Ten in season four?
Hi Stephen, Good Questions! (1)We enjoyed doing these anniversary panels but do not have any more booked at this time. (2) I believe Season Four had a new producer and a fresh start with the "Gang Of Ten" and no holdovers from the last cast.
Bernadette always talks about wanting to be AMerican to her dad as a kid...But Bernadette you were my crush. I think you helped yourself appearing very AMERICAN with ONE...
