I am getting less than $100k per year and living with family including 2 kids and paying $1600 for rent. I’m able to save $1k to $1.5k every month even after living a very comfortable life. I update gadgets often, eat in restaurants whenever I want and take 2 long and 4 short trips approx. every year.
I was getting 60k INR a month in India and wasn’t even able to save a rupee.
Financial ability in US is far far better than India. Not even comparable.
One thing we will never achieve in US is the family, functions, festivals and relations in India.
If we are poor in India, relatives and friends in India humiliated and suppressed us due to poverty (my case), US is heaven.

@@tirunagarmadurai I don’t do budget. Few things to note are, I don’t have separate phone bill. Phone line is free with xfinity. Most of my trips are covered by cash back from credit cards. Schooling is completely free from pre-k in my place.
But based on my previous tracking, below are some of the points.
I used to buy unnecessary things or over buy things from Costco and Walmart. Now I don’t go to Costco or Walmart. Sometimes I do drive up orders in Walmart.
Also I used to buy lot of things from Amazon. Now I almost stopped unless necessary.
Main culprits are buying unnecessary things in the name of groceries and shopping in Walmart, target etc.
If you couldn’t get it, I would suggest to use a spend tracking app for three months to find where money is going. Correct it, delete the app and enjoy.

In order to get citizenship for kids, most of the people wanted to continue in US. Kids need not undergo the huge slavery competition, bad lifestyle (10AM to 10PM Job+ transit time 2hrs) , less salary etc. we are hoping that their life will be cake walk. But reality is Our Indians working in the Client side are spoiling the work culture in US as well and are creating a Slavery environment

One other interesting reason for this could be that there was no recession after 2008. As years went by and recent high salary jobs and people buying house becoz of peer pressure, folks are in a settled mindset. When the next recession hits, there could be lot of people forced to return back, irrespective of the reasons discussed by you. Our folks should get into some kind of a business or real estate investments to overcome this situation. But this video will be heart warming for a lot of folks, including me, to find solace that there are people in similar situation. Good work bro.

We should take a decision quickly once we land in USA and have to make plans accordingly. If we plan to migrate to India then we should earn as much as we can and have to start investing in India or if we plan to settle in USA we have to choose a right location and have to buy home accordingly.Only drawbacks in setting in USA we won't be able to take care of parents and if we face any big health issues for us we should have a proper backup plan

Main reason for moving back is for my immediate family & grandparents to connect with my kids and i always have a feeling of am not belong here and as you mentioned documents , visa always reassures that as alien.

The biggest trap I see is people once into US, gets accustomed to 9 to 5 job and most dont upgrade their skillset as in India. Over time, working in same technology and 9 to 5 gives a comfort zone which is not possible in India. Right now, there are big packages given in India and if one earns good salary in India with reasonable savings, its better to stay in India as things are getting better
As we grow older, healthcare needs to be affordable and important which is a complete farce in US. India is much better in this area. Also, we do not know how will these kids growing up in US will be in future with respect to traditional and moral values.

"Things are getting better"? Only Muslim hatred is increasing and hindus are getting more and more radicalized. Unemployment is at an all-time high of close to 25% as per CMIE which is not even the actual figures, inflation is through the roof, 23% of the population is below poverty line which itself is too low to show low numbers and this is the official data. Unofficial data puts this at 60%. 2,400 MNCs have left India in the past 10 years. Without facts and numbers, kindly don't spew whatsapp news that the sanghis peddle and the so called 'upper castes' lap it up.

The teachers who take classes at the temple are not fully knowledgeable here in the US about our traditions. Our tradition of visiting our Kula deivam will be lost by the future generation. First and foremost they won't even be able to speak our mother tongue properly. Our kids will be more westernized and also risk of marrying a foreigner. I don't know if I am ready for it!!

Here, we have free public parks and playground with good swings and slides and play area which we can't compare to Chennai. Commuting from one place to another is easier with less pollution and doesn't make us tired. Taking kids to school and other extra circular activities can be done conveniently without traveling through pollution by mothers if they know to drive car. Also, ladies can drive car with ease here and be independent and go to work.
Also, my husband is in manufacturing company and salary he gets here can't match with salary in India.

The whole thing of “not much savings in USA” is not true. Let me tell you ... even in India if only 1 person is working or is the bread winner of the family then in India also life is difficult, savings is not there. In India “now” a 8-10 years experience is getting 40lakhs per annum. But I know students with masters degree without proper experience getting 120k plus in US. I do not know if this kind of salaries are matched in India.
Here even a priest can change his job into IT but in India prior experience, degree matters a lot.
I know friends of mine who have done only BCom in India but after marriage with H4-EAD getting into IT.
Also work timings in most US companies in US is between 9-5 but in India general work hours are 12 plus hours.
Environment, no pollution, education for children, best universities, work culture , meeting other nationals and race, society in US is a bit free and doesn’t interfere or judge much... these are few pluses. I know visa and immigration is a big problem. But pluses are also there.

With this the savings is more compared to USA. In the case of work culture, sometimes finishing within the timeline the need for hard work with some extra time may be needed. The youngsters including me are also enjoying a bachelor's life a lot in India 😁.

Advantages in US: Comfort, kids education and money..Biggest disadvantage living in US: Separate from parents, Loneliness after some point of time, will loose friends, kids may miss love from grand parents.
We need to draw a line strictly after certain years.. Becos we should live parents when they're good and we should not take care them only when they become sick like nurse

Great points.. living away from home town is a choice we make for various reasons such as financial growth, career progression, global exposure, life style, comfort etc..United States is land of opportunity for many. The question here is are we staying intact with the purpose when we signed up for? We get distracted , compare others with us, peer and social pressure.. also it doesn’t matter single earning or double earning. More income comes with more expenses but agree that with dual income comes with some savings as well!
