    • TESTS FOR PERMANENT ड...
    Ever since the Delhi government and Maruti Suzuki collaborated to set up Automated Driving Test Centres in Delhi, it has brought in sense of fair play and eliminated the role of a tout, besides putting an end to the rein of corruption which was witnessed so rampantly in the days gone by at licensing centres. Roy P Tharyan, Editor, Motown India, takes you through the tests for those keen to get a permanent driving license in Delhi for a four-wheeler and/or two-wheeler.

    We just realised one critical issue: when u apply for 2wheeler learner's license and subsequently pay up for final test, please ensure you either opt for geared 2wheeler, or ungeared 2 wheeler. If for example u apply for geared 2wheeler, and u take your gearless 2wheeler for the test, the inspector can refuse you your test. You have to reapply again. This is the feedback we got from those who went for the test. This does not apply to 4 wheelers, we presume!

      The world is moving towards 'lane-discipline' system while India is only upgrading it's chaotic traffic with automation. This may be a proud moment for Indians, but no driving authority in any developed country exchanges their DLs with the substandard Indian DLs because of this backwardness. Indians have to do additional testing and pay additional fee to exchange to foreign DLs, something which many countries with better road systems don't pay.

      Motown India No lane discipline has been given importance which is one of the reasons we end up using horn so consistently with no purpose. And lane discipline not only helps to reduce road traffic accidents, but will ensure smoother movement of traffic.

    • @manishsahoo6903
      @manishsahoo6903 2 года назад +14

      The time is absolutely reasonable and fair according to me. You can't have a whole 15 minutes just to parallel park while the entire traffic is blocked and everyone's yelling at you to GTFO. The limits are there just to filter out anyone unprepared for the road officially and anyways it's India, nobody's stopping you from driving without possesion of any Driving licence.

  • @vickichumuk
    @vickichumuk 5 лет назад +71

    This is good. In comparison to most countries around the world, the biggest drawback of our tests is that we dont test in real life scenarios. Meaning.. traffic, signals, reverse bay park, parallel park, driving as a normal driver as opposed to slow, driving at highway speeds (above 80 km/h), hazard perception. In the UK the test is for 40 whole minutes including knowledge test on your car mechanics. There is a separate 50 question multiple choice as well as 14 question hazard perception theory test a few months before the practical. Essentially you truly need to know driving to get a license

      True mate. I am in the UK and while I was an experienced avid driver back in Noida, I had to take 12 driving lessons to pass in watford with 4 minors. Driving in the UK is so different than India. You have to be keen observer, fast anticipation, 6 point mirror checks, signals, road signs, roundabout junctions, emergency stops, 9 maneuvers and so on. Also as you said practical tests are done on real testing routes amid the regular traffic.

    I failed in the LMV Test 3 times even after driving for 2 years, keeping your mind calm is the most essential thing in this.
    Mistakes I did in my attempts:-
    1. Seat Belt
    2. Drove two times left while making 8
    3. Stopped after parking the vehicle waiting for the signal to go green
    Note: I never made mistake in the driving/parking/reverse and never ever touched any line in all these three attempts,My mistakes were negligence and not following the rules properly which happened because I was very tensed everytime.
    My Licensing authority was wazirpur Delhi
    And in the fourth attempt the only thing I did was keeping my mind calm and being confident that I can easily do it

      Yash Raj no surprise this is hardly a test, I struggle to understand how you can be allowed on the road when your test doesn’t include being on it once. I live in the uk and you have to drive on the road with traffic park at a car park drive at 60mph and so on and there are so many safety rules and way you can be marked down, driving to slow spending to much time at roundabout not using indicators no rolling at all. The test is ment to be to make sure your safe on the road not to see if you can do a figure of 8

    • @Yashraj-gc1gj
      @Yashraj-gc1gj 5 лет назад +12

      Joshua Warrington hi joshua i completely agree with you. But earlier in our country there were no such tests you just had to bribe the person who took your test and he passed you. That has caused alot of accidents on the road that is why things have become automated now. I know it is not the best track but im happy that my country is progressing.

    Nowhere in the test, the candidate's knowledge on road signs, entry and exit from a junction or roundabouts, when to yield, etc are tested. A person who pass this test means her or she has good control and judgement of the vehicle, but doesn't mean they know road etiquettes. To put it in perspective, an auto/taxi driver who breaks all the rules on road can easily pass this test. If more components are not added, this test wouldn't result in better drivers on road.
