This is pure gold! keep doing content like this! Plz🔥
Thanks wavy such a crucial part of the music
THIS IS GOLD!
Dude seems so humble i remember meek first finding him to see where he is and still is learning tricks is dope
Great video. Keep ‘em coming
I really love this wavy
You're the waviest Wayne for this info! 🌊
Yhh this is hard! Love watching others do what they do. Shouts to wavy! 👏🏼💯
Blessings fam 🙏 🙌🏾
This was very informative. 💯
Excellent content foreal
I always want to listen to the song. Right after recording it in the studio. So i can listen to it on the way home, and see what adjustments need to be made etc.
Boy if you dont get up from behind that computer and place that mic right for that young man i know sumthing 😂😂😂😂😂
🤣that was messing with me real bad
one of the best tutorials i've seen
Turn me up cruz
🥶
Love this man!! Tryna get better at engineering myself! Thanks!!
I watched Cruz working and I'm saying to myself... That's me in the future, very near future.... Slowly but surely getting there
Wow... I like this!
Sir wayne, thank you for this!!
I can’t wait till the engineer community posts more live recording sessions like this.,
it’s truly nothing like a tutorial video. You should consider doing a series for the channel.
Thank you again! Have a spooky October 🤙
Thanks for that suggestion. We are working to keep this consistent.
Bro this is such a W vid
Maaaaaaaan he could have found a better artist to do this video with.... This was a hard listen.... Homie was traaaaaaash smh
Facts! I couldn’t even finish the video
Fw me😤
So a “cut track” is basically just for delay compensation! Great to finally put a name to it. I always called it a dry vocal recording track.
Uhhhh please expand it went over my head
@@ssserotonin1373just a recording track separate from the mix bus, but still has the same processing
Instead of recording while sending through a bus that has his processing like eq, compression, autotune, he's using it right on the track he's recording.
@@rikodesinkowhy ?
@@Octxvius He's got a great computer so dont know why he's doing it but it saves CPU. If you know the sound you want 100% you setup an AUX with input as your mic and output as a new audio track. You put plugins on the AUX, get the sounds you want, and then print to the audio track. Now you can make that AUX inactive with the plugins because that sound is recorded to audio track. Versus keeping all those plugins running on a dry audio track. Make sense?
Hey man! Cool idea for your channel.
❤❤
Yea he gave all the good stuff.
I still say the engineer is the real artist. Star Quality all day long.
The engineer all day baby!
THIS IS EXACTLY HOW I RECORD MY CLIENTS AND THE SUPRISING PART IS THAT AM USING FL STUDIO THEY EVEN DROP THEIR DEMOS 🤣🤣🤣
VSX kru 💪🏽
I'm solo, performing, recording, mixing, etc. I never really know if my voice is sounding correct because it's my voice. I suspect I lot of records I deleted may have been bangers if I had someone else mixing or just more heads in the session.
Where’s the artist info at !!!??? Bro is dope I want to hear some of his music
💯💯💯 ctr drop to cut track is the ultimate hack
yeah I definitely use Cut tracks. I didn't even know there was a term for that. I just got the Apollo x6, have no idea how to use it yet so we'll see how that changes my work flow in the upcoming months. I still like the idea of cut tracks regardless though. For sure latency compensation with cut tracks
Particularly what is a cut track
What does it compensate
Is this referring two 2 track recording
well, I used to call my "Cut track" simply "Headphone 1" and that's simply where you record everything on. In my case Its actually technically a Headphone mix.
After recording a take, you gotta drop down to your regular track "Verse 1, 2 / Hook" tracks, in which those all have EQ, Compression, Autotune all separately and then all your lead vocal tracks get sent out to a Lead vocal BUS where they are processed even more.
The idea is to RECORD on a track with very little processing so you don't get system overloads or latency.
The Cut track has very little processing on it. All I have on my Cut Track/Headphone Mix is "Stock EQ, CLA 3A and a logic stock 1/4th + 1/2 left/right Delay.
It is JUST to simply allow the artist to FEEL in the mix during recording.
AFTER recording the take, you gotta drop down to the actual processed track. The tracks I drop down are MUCH louder, with EQ Compression saturation etc @@pjlee4540
Lol punch me in after 1/2 a bar
😂 Rite
naw thats crazy cruz trackin in the VSX cans!
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Y'all should record allnthese😢
Hate it when they come unprepared or to improvise.. but.. that's how they do now days.
Exactly! This is why most rappers can’t perform without a backing track these days. It’s lame. Just take the time to actually write the damn verse.
@@DelmarJones Everyone has a different creative process bro, that's why they pay the studio time they need...
@@frgramz027 guess I struck a nerve huh?
@@DelmarJonesthose rappers stuck your nerve tho
@@Triillmiixx Learn to properly form a sentence before you decide to jump on my dik.
anyone else wondering why the mic is so low?
Definitely weird to me. Only thing I can rationalize is maybe he purposely records off axis to capture or avoid some sort of articulations? Maybe plosives. Or maybe he gets some kyna desired proximity effect out of it lol idk. Weird to me
Artist are assholes and think they know more than an experience engineer about mic placement. In my studio when they ask to lower it i say NO
@@Bagheera_Smoov Cruz address's the mic placement this on the recent HelpMeDevvon > "My Audio Nerds Podcast" at 48.08
@@ZAY________ ayeeee dope shit! I’m boutta check that out now bro🤞🏽🤞🏽
Well first of all is the beat selection 😌
then I just record with my preset without reverb or delay
(Add that later) make sure my delivery is solid before i even start the song (this helps for mixing and reduce the chance to punch in after half a bar) so ill scat around using the highest pitch for the song within that key of the song to expand my vocals that helps me hit all notes within that key so i wont be struggling to say certain words.
After ill make the hook
See what sounds are catchy for the song and then ill start writing from that hook
Loving the comments! 😂 Grammy noms, platinum records and I couldn’t even help my man with proper mic placement
He read this and responded to this on a podcast.
Hey what’s up bro how are you much love
Here because he is now my professor 😅😅
Bro did u shoot this in 10fps?
What’s with the satellite connection from outer space?
Punch me in??? Yeah I can record punch in rappers they always get mad when I make them preform the verse . But always love the results
lol guys like this need more vocal coaching. all those punch ins crazy
To me this approach is killing young and unexperienced guys... They never get to hear how the raw signal sounds, and they never get to learn how to properly creatively mic the artist or an instrument... Most of the guys do exactly this, cut the lows up to 500hz, kill all the balls in the signal, throw some arbitrary level of compressions and turn the vocals up too much, and when it comes to mixing stage, boom, demoitis, everything has to stay too thin and shrill because that's how it was being listened for hundreds or thousands of times prior mixing... This is the exact reason why most of the music nowadays sounds wack and thin, with the exception from the very top of the line artists which also get the screw their sound from time to time...
Very true
Facts.
THANKS !
Spot on
and that makes your vocal clean+crispy but souless
Umm going crazy 😂😂
Hi I have a Apollo and I try to record my vocals thru the neve but wav file no near how those look
I’m trying figure out how to get a proper recording setting for it bc it’s either to low where I can’t here or my wav files to small
Did Cruz give out a discount code??
64 sample bit rate records your thoughts before you actually lay it out🤣😭😭. My PC and recording interface cannot handle that
Punch me in 😤👊🏽
Mic discipline is important
What is that vocal stack ?
Hold up but where the song at that dude recorded at 3mins on
first of all why his mic all the way down there lmao
I use virtual Dj to find my key and bpm
Autokey is good as well plus if you have autotune it will follow the key switches and automatically send it to AT
Fax about Auto-Key! Plus I just found out about that Auto-Key shows you how much to detune in the top right. Massive game changer! Smooths out the vocals so much!
@@Rubberninja11how you do that ?
Facts me too
What's up with your fps
Thank you. Do you do mastering? I have about 50 songs. Check the page out when u have some time.
So easy
Who’s the artist?
Bro in the studio with gunna
Who is the artist rapping ??
can you do a video on a cut track wavy
The frames are off on this video
Brilliant! That performer has an amazing voice! But that mumbling technique throws me off!
Wtf music is just been in the rigth situation this Info so basic 😢 I been recording like from day one
yo i had protools but its too confusing for beginners, luna is so much more easier and straight forward
gotta put that time in if you want to learn
I use luna Teo and a beginner, so in luna we can set the same thing up and monitor in console and pre mix as we go they will sound excellent out the gate the copy and paste plugin chain with matching setting two start the in the box mix
What I'm tryna understand in protools is the cut track ,
Plus is they running there mix chain through a bus two monitor, is that's one reason they using aux bus
I wonder how many verbs he uses
My man's talking about polishing a turd and yet he recorded this video at only 15 fps. 😂
How do you turn on the quick punch mode??
Go to the options menu

@waynewav dope thanks bro for always responding and coming through with help. I appreciate you!
What vocal chain did he use on the Apollo before going in ???
Cruz actually has his recording template for sale on his website.
@@A_Class216okay
Who cares sounds awful
He use outboard gear neve and a compressor ,so I'm thinking he monitor on a aux bus ,I'm not sure I didn't even see a apollo ,if he had a apollo he could have set the chain up in console and did the same thing in a better easier way and then just copy and paste, I remember one producer telling him about console and I have a apollo x so yea
Also his mike technique is no bad as a recording engineer you need to school the artist on that
Mike technique is a lost art, nobody doing that anymore, nobody listens to the raw signal any more, unexperienced guys think they can make up everything with plugins, and honestly internet doesn't help them learning that... Nobody listens and judge a raw recording nowhere in the production stage, everybody listens ballless shrill thin recordings with the lows completely cut off... Real recording and mixing engineers quit from trying to educate people, they don't want confrontation, they just want their money on the table and that's it... That's why mixing engineer most of the time nowadays ask for straight up processed tracks, so they can just polish what was done in the recording/production stage and move on, it's sad. Listen to mr Fabian Marasciullo at Pensado's place 356 from 5 years ago, it is worse now.
Mic technique had me sell a tlm103 for a beta sm58a.... that with a twin x and a unison 1084 with no compressor... how its meant to be baby (matched my vocal) (new people: everyones voice has different frequencies and matches mics different, but dang do I love dynamic handhelds in studio recording professionally....... personally. @@konjstip6156
Wonder what interface he uses
APOLLO
@@gassmaskwoodrow he not using console so thought it was something else. The latency gotta be crazy good cuz ol boy was singing on point with a 1024 buffer. My shit gotta be at least 128
@@jacksp8de curious on how you got yours setup if you use apollo
What program is he using?
Protools
he gotta still be learning how to engineer...
Nice fps bro
cut track does nothing for latency thats baloney. Send your Record track or "cut track" into the vocal bus. So no plugins on the cut track and just send the cut "out" into the vocal bus. Set buffer to 64 or 128 and youre good. If using autotune pro turn on low latency in autotune plugin settings
Question bro
I create a aux bus mono after I record the take
So what's the benefit of recording a track and routing two bus in real time ,if I'm asking this right ,if not forgive me
Why do folks say "expose" as if there's something being hidden
Makes more people click. lol. Humans are attracted to things like this. Sorry if it misled you. But the video is worth watching.
@@waynewav Ahhhh ok. Understood.
whats the software hes using?

So he's like two inches from the mic? Sounds like cats in mating season under the house
This is so basic, we be doing a whole spiritual major event in the studio opening major portals etc, ain’t no game this is absolute basic, no cutting one take from start to end fasting on Korean tea holding crystals etc
Nobody gonna asked about the song? What’s the song called?
Wat hardware or software he used?
64 sample rate is so hard on my cpu 😂
I use 64 all the time with 64 GB RAM And it did work great. Now I have upgraded to 128 GB Ram. I love it more
Thats Whatsup Dawg, good for you! I would’ve done that a while ago if not for MacBooks lack of ability to be customized.
Welp grab you a 2700x 32 gb ram b450 motherboard and any gpu that's cheap and you can run 64 samples easy. And it's cheap
This is why I use reaper. Cut/effect tracks?! Committing!?? Printing????!!! Helll nawwww reaper users don’t have to deal with those problems. You save SOOOOO Much time in reaper
